New game plus. Replaying with leveled up enemies and the fattest of loots.

Also STILL getting my ass handed to me on the djinni circle of light quest on veteran. Died probably 10+ times on it so far. Those archers just destroy me, I'm way too glassy I guess. Even tried raising my poison resist as much as I could given they seem to be doing poison damage, but it didn't help much. Kinda weird since I was advancing at a steady clip until this point.

What class may I ask? I was doing it with a bro, me as engy him as outlander and those rangers always gave me issues but with enough health steal (regent set for 20%) I could just keep whacking things and live through enough that I got to the end. Mind you we outlevelled pretty mucha ll the content up to that point. Did it a little later with my derpzerker and he died often but got through (base vita, dual claw build that relies on health steal to stay alive with some shadow burst when thngs get dicey) and managed to get through it after a few deaths. Its a bitch but that is a nice place for farming ember shards and fame when you start to outlevel it, some okayish golds too.

At the end of the first section if you idle for a bit a lever will appear that opens up a secret area. 2 more chests and a statue (Eye of Gallo) that will wind back to the teleporter.

Cannon/minions engineer.

What's sad is I've outleveled that quest and it still kicks my ass. IIRC the highest end for that quest is 35 and I'm something like 37 or 38.

Bit of a tip that might seem obvious but that I overlooked is that those fish you get that buff attack speed and another that boosts crit and damage... they effect your summons, too. IE your gun bot and automaton. Was midway though the final boss fight and it was slow going then I realized I had them, used it and his health went do a noticeable chunk when the summons came out.

Right now I'm playing the overpowered Glaive-lander build -- you basically just put 5 points in Glaive Throw, then buff stuff like Master of Elements, Dodge Master, Share the Wealth, etc. So far through early Act 2 it absolutely destroy things. Just put 90% of your stat points into focus.

Not sure about Cannon builds, is it heavily reliant on charge for damage? If so you could try charging up on the training dummy then porting down. My engy is 2hander thuggernaut, jumps in with onslaught, stomps for stun then just starts smacking the first stunned mook for coup de grace, repeat until charge filled then either ember hammer for groups of Flame for clusters moving in or just stomp/leap and white damage. Did the arena at level 38 iirc, repeated it quite a few times to play catch up to my mates level, and for some loot and gems to try and transmute into IAS and vendor trash to enchants. If you are taking plenty of hits, try to get 3pce Regent set for 20% health steal and a touch of IAS for cannon spam. I did try a cannon build in the beta, with fewer skills (seeing as they are tied to player level, why have restrictions?) it seemed a little lacklustre, but I plan on building one again, once im done with derpgineer and herpzerker, got a few uniques lying about now. If you would like a hand we can try to set up a time, but im phenominally unreliable and on GMT +10

Heavens no. I basically don't use charge at all. The build (As I'm playing it anyway) basically is just have healbot running, avoid baddies, hold down RMB to use blast cannon, occasionally hit tab and then RMB to drop some skeleton archers, occasionally drop a gun bot and that's it. Putting points in all those, heavy lifting (Or whatever the attack speed and stun heavy weapon skill is) and coup de grace. Then of course once I can I'll be getting the heavy robot and the slowing robot.

I did finally finish it this evening though. I guess I was in the right state of mind by drinking a beer and playing at 4AM, had a close call but was able to pull through. I did notice those goddamn spike traps were way too loose on what constituted "Active" though. I'd wait until the blades popped down and start to run, but their active state apparently lasts longer than the animation and I'd take damage from them anyway.
After getting through the damn circle of light dungeon I pressed on and killed the djinn and didn't have any issues. Just THAT ONE DUNGEON gave me the shits so far. Guess I rely on my mobility and dodging a hell of a lot.

Oooooh don't spoil the "oh-oh" moment for everyone. All of us were "almighty gods" up to that quest, but from there the difficulty starts ramping up.

PS: I died 3 times. It was then when I decided to start leveling forcefield.

So, I bought the game today and made an engineer (obviously), but it's been a MASSIVE cakewalk on normal, should I switch to expert or wait for this "oh-oh" momment?

Play on veteran, but it could be still a little too easy. Or play on Elite but face the MASSIVE hp and damage bloats

I find the Veteran difficulty to have the just right amounts of challenge, so I recommend that.

Dude, even my gf found Normal too easy, definitely go for Veteran at least. Then you can collect some cool loot for other chars and try Elite eventually.

So, I'm playing a Zerker on Veteran in CoOp, about Lvl30 now and mainly skilling the first tree. Eviscerate as main attack, Howl for Debuff, Battle Rage for Buff and Wolfstrike for getting those Teleporting/annoying enemies.
Also skilling Blood Hunger/Executioner and Rampage as Passives, but I still kinda die quite a lot, am I doing it rite? xD

The Luminous Arena quest is the first place where I actually paid the resurrection cost rather than starting back in town. It was worth it because if you pay you get to resume from where you died rather than starting from the beginning again.

For those who finished the game already:

I unlocked the cartographer and the lady. What does the lady do? Rerroll world? Respect? Can I change the difficulty? Will the cartographer still be open in NG+?

Yes, she justs resets the world to NG+ (not much of a spoiler, I don't think). As to whether or not you can still use the maps I believe you can but not 100% sure since I didn't bother checking. I think my friend mentioned you could.

As they mentioned anything below Veteran is just ludicrously easy and even Veteran is pretty tame until you get to the latter parts of Act 2.

Fuck, are you meant to play Elite mode straight off the bat? It's doable, but having to potion every 3-4 hits gets old quickly. It's not overly hard, but just annoying really.

The cartopgrapher opens up a portal to "Mapworld" and it can be accessed from other portals on NG+ including the portal in the first town.

The problem with Elite is the big hp bloat and dmg spike. Enemies take hours to kill and you die in a millisecond. It is doable on first run but I think Veteran is much more suited for a first run. It can be hard but it is not as frustrating as Elite can get.

Well the good thing is while Blizzard forces you to play through the easier levels Runic give you the option to start off wherever you want. My first full playthrough was on elite and, yes, it did get tedious at times (took around 30 hours). However, there are still some relative balance issues and some classes/specs are just a lot more powerful than others. My cannon/construction engineer started to hit the wall near the end of Act 2 in terms of damage and stuff just took a while to kill. So far my Glaive Outlander is chewing things up and I should be tackling the latter half of Act 2 today for comparison sake.

I would definitely recommend starting with Veteran since although it can be deceptively easy at first it will ramp up later. You also risk getting burnt out playing Elite right off the bat. Keep in mind there are no benefits to playing on the harder levels other than the challenge itself. In fact I think less loot actually drops on Elite -- you'll definitely make less gold as you'll be spending more of it on potions to keep you alive.

For outlanders, the skill that adds 50% poison dmg doesn't seem to work for ranged weapons but happily works for pets/summons so great 1 point wonder there.

It works in conjunction with Glaive Throw! Just started Act 3 with grossly unbalanced focus build Outlander literally wrecking things on Elite. I've died four times total. Three times was me just not being careful because I knew I wasn't playing Hardcore. Once was just a total derpy moment where I forget there was a pattern to the blade trap 'gauntlet' in Luminous Arena, panicked and got owned by it. Don't think I've come close to dying on any boss fight. I have to imagine this will get nerfed in the next patch.

What are you talking about? Which skill exactly are you referring to?

Master of Elements, I assume. Maybe he was talking about something else.

Poison Burst
Rank 1/15
You coat your weapons with a venomous agent. If an enemy is killed, there is a chance it will explode in a 6 meter cloud of poison, damaging enemies that come into contact with it.
Always Active
Inflicts 50% of Weapon DPS as Poison
12% chance on kill to Explode

TBH this game is pretty damn fun from the little I've played of it so far. It certainly feels more akin to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 did, anyway. I think I'm going to stick on Elite because my ego won't let me play a lower difficulty. :smug:

It's not that bad, just kind of a battle of the wills against the HP/damage bloat. Fun shit though. I'm sure the charm will wear off like it did with D3 for me but it's fun while it lasts so far.

Does +% to poison damage gear work with venomous hail? It being based on weapon damage and not focus and all.
