Fate was fun, TL1 was fun, but I don't know about you, but I get tired of same old, same old after a while which is what this is... It's ONLY claims to fame are adding the masses moronic cry for MP and overland pseudo maps, beyond that it's well, erm, FATE yet again...TBH this game is pretty damn fun from the little I've played of it so far. It certainly feels more akin to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3 did, anyway. I think I'm going to stick on Elite because my ego won't let me play a lower difficulty.
It's not that bad, just kind of a battle of the wills against the HP/damage bloat. Fun shit though. I'm sure the charm will wear off like it did with D3 for me but it's fun while it lasts so far.
And so ends the story of my level 45 Engineer. A random War Troll on Veteran difficulty in Act 3 one shot killed me even though I had full health and almost full set of uniques with loads of armor, health and resists. Goes to show how useless Vitality is though. In the end it didn't make a difference at all. Even Bulwark wouldn't have saved my ass. But that's the way the cookie crumbles, I guess. I was getting a little bored with the Engie anyway. Was doing a Cannon + Bots run. It only started to take off at level 42, and even then not that much. Pretty boring class to be honest. Will probably not play that character ever again.
But on the other hand I have a shitton of stuff in my shared stash for other HC characters now. I mean literally my stash is filled with nothing else but uniques that I can feed to my other characters. Wanted to get to the Alchemist so I could farm some awesome unique weapons, but this was not the destiny of David Bowie. Perhaps Perry Farrell is the chosen hero?

Poison Burst
Rank 1/15
You coat your weapons with a venomous agent. If an enemy is killed, there is a chance it will explode in a 6 meter cloud of poison, damaging enemies that come into contact with it.
Always Active
Inflicts 50% of Weapon DPS as Poison
12% chance on kill to Explode
This opens up possibilities for retarded damage output then. I got some +60% to poison damage belt and +20% shoulders i can't use yet.

I have deep respect for HC players, I would punch a hole through my monitor if that shit happened to me.

You just need to have the right mindset for it. For me dying is not the end, but a natural part of the HC cycle. I laughed my ass off when I died. For me, dying in HC is funny as hell.

Hardcore singleplayer? Meh...It's still my preferred method (Vet), but hardcore only really starts to shine when you're playing multiplayer. Elite becomes an absolutely hilarious clusterfuck with a group of people playing hardcore.
It's not like I warned everyone a couple of pages ago. A crit by those guys is oneshot, except if you have 2 charges forcefield. And so ends the story of my level 45 Engineer. Yeah, it is kind of funny how similar Torchlight, especially Torchlight 2 is to Fate. There are a few Fate games and TL2 looks like a more polished version of them. I think the font is even the same.Fate was fun, TL1 was fun, but I don't know about you, but I get tired of same old, same old after a while which is what this is... Who said I play singleplayer? I play TL2 with friends.
Regarding the studio's plans for the future, Runic said that it doesn't really know what it wants to do next, but that it would like to take a break from RPGs for a while.
"It's pretty up in the air," Erich Schaefer said. "We have a lot of cool ideas and nothing pinned down yet. From my perspective, I think we'll probably continue to incorporate RPG elements and randomisation in some new hybrid, character-based game. Maybe with more of a sand-box openness? Maybe with unpredictable emergent or procedural content. I can pretty much guarantee it'll have loot, though!"
