This is what I'm missing:

1325686330602.gif
1325686367886.gif
1325686382287.gif
1325686400707.gif
1325686419203.gif

Quirky gestures that serve no real practical purpose, but tell us more about what the characters are like. So far I've seen three facial expressions on the South Park RPG characters: neutral (most of the time), angry (when attacking) and hurt (when hit or knocked out).

So, it's just like South Park?

Well it's a still shot. Wait for a vid maybe. I'm not optimistic at all. The game's overall presentation seems so static so far.

That people get somewhat excited for this game should tell everything anyone needs to know about the current state of RPGs, heh.

They are probably trying to make it look just like South Park, not some wapanese wild dreams.
And this is why I think the South Park RPG is a monumentally terrible idea to begin with. If Obsidian wants to stay faithful to the license, they'll have no choice but to make a badly animated game. I don't want people dissing 2D as a valid artistic choice for retail games because the first 2D WRPG in ages looks like, well, South Park.

According to Best Buy it's going to be a $60 price point on consoles so maybe $50 on PC. Looks like it'll be a repeat of Dungeon Siege 3. Digital Download title masquerading as a full release and offered at a bloated price. I'll grab it at $5 a few months later just like I did with DS3.

As far as combat goes it probably won't be like Castle Crashers (which is more of an ARPG beat-em-up), rather Costume Quest. But, again, Costume Quest was sold at it's appropriate price and not $50.

In that case, I'll get the Limited Edition for $30 from TheHut.com :smug:

And DS3 is a good, if insignificant and rather forgettable game. It's still solid. Possibly the most solid Obsidian game. No bugs. Good graphics. Good functionality. Straightforward mechanics, if a little bloated. Easily the most balanced Obsidian game.

You missing the final fantasy spell effects? the great backgrounds at the start of DA2?

South Park has way more personality and style than any RPG made in years. Not that it is a great feat to achieve just that.
FFS DU give us a fist of rage button, such lame trolling shouldn't be tolerated.:x

Yeah, but the thing is, it doesn't "look like South Park", it is South Park. They're safe from people thinking "hur hur, looks like shit", because it looks just like it's supposed to.

And yet again, people seem to think that Obsidian = MCA. MCA has already confirmed that he is having zero involvement in the Southpark crpg. Zero. Not even writing a token NPC dialogue set, which is what he usuallly gets roped in to do whenever he isn't officially involved in an Obsidian game. MCA is working on another project (one assumes) and has stated that he has absolutely no involvement in Southpark.

Christ, poor old Josh Sawyer does a magnificcent job with New Vegas, and people STILL attribute that to MCA. Between all the folks attributing NV to Bethesda and Todd, and all the folks attributing it to MCA, Sawyer's got to be left going FUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!!:(

Admittedly, MCA showed his writing chops with the Dead Money DLC, but the main game and most of the design was Sawyer, with some healthy borrowing from the old Van Buren design docs.

$50 sounds way too high.

I don't have any interest in playing it myself, but if it does well, its going to introduce a ton of new people to CRPGs.

Actually that showed that the best parts of FO are MCA's , the Bethesda like dumbfuckery are Sawyer's.
And get real people, is a fucking tie-in, this means that it will be a terrible game, and probably it will sold buckets.:hearnoevil:

learn to read?
that's why i said inevitable mca DLC
but hey, why not make a generalisation out of my lulzpost so you can write another wall of text bemoaning poor josh sawyer (btw i correctly attributed lonesome road to mca in my post, not new vegas)
also, the only decent character sawyer wrote was arcade, and that's mostly because of the enclave quest wich i suspect he didn't write on his own
other characters he wrote are bland at the best or horribly out of place at the worst. the guy's a good system designer but he plain sucks as a writer, mostly cause he can't refrain from injecting his historyfag pretentiousness into. every. god. damn. charcter.

Chief Hanlon and Joshua Graham are great characters. Here's Avellone's contributions to Fallout: "LOL DICKS PENIS TOES PENIS FINGERS RORSCHACH-RIP-OFF DON'T PISS OFF THE BEAR BRO"

Chief Hanlon wins the award of sole Obsidian character to ever make me fall asleep during his 'dialogue', Joshua Graham isn't even a character in HH, he's just an abstract illustration of the parable of the lost son, miles away from the quality of The Hanged Man as originally enviisioned by Avellbro. I suppose the gravely voice of the actor who played him quoting random shit about zion from the mormon bible made you cum or something.
I'll give you a few points for the Roschach rip off bit, that made me lol a bit , but - if anything - Ulysses is the bastard child of Ravel and Kreia, suffering brain damage because of very-late-infancy (he appeared almost a year later than he was supposed to in the game)

*yawn*
Change your shtick, Avellonites manage to criticize MCA much better and without the inane retardation you display.
Your commitment to bullshit rivals Mastermind's.
We already know that you hate MCA and don't lose any occasion for provocative statements, give it a rest.

And the whole South Park thing is a complete joke. Either the money must have been incredible or Trey Parker put a horse head in Feargus Urquhart's bed.

It's about the mass appeal. I'd say they're probably looking at least 1 mil copies sold. Legit. That's my prediction. But I won't be one of the million.
This isn't exaggeration. There's plenty of fanbase. Plenty enough for them to just say 'Oooo. South Park. Rpg? THIS i gotta see for myself!' and just preorder to get a figurine of the gang.

Also there is no worry of lore deviation risk. The fanbase isn't going to mind it one bit. Compared to Star Wars fanbase who didn't like the whole 'Destroy the Force' theme in KOTOR2, South Park is easy as hell to write.
