I do realize this isn't much, but it does bring a smile to my face.

Paul Reiche III supposedly said:
Hi Anthony,

Fred and I have definitely talked about the Kickstarter phenomenon and, while it's super awesome to be riding the Skylanders Express Train to Mega-Hit-town, it's also driving us bonkers to know how successful a Star Control kickstarter project would be, but know that we can't pursue it simultaneously. I am literally holding my hands up in the air, clenching and unclenching my fingers in frustration... and somehow, also typing -- it's a miraculous gesture!

So, maybe we can get a (real) new Star Control.

Man that would be awesome! As SC2 is one of my favorite games evah. But I fear that it would not get a lot of money, as I fear not many people today know about how glorius it was... :(

I think Star Control is better known than Wasteland, at least it was until the WL2 kickstarter.

But wasteland has the "we are the grandfathers of Fallout" factor, and SC2 doesn't have it. I bet huge amount of people donated because of Fallout 3.

And boy are they in for a surprise :smug:

FTL Team sent you a message about FTL: Faster Than Light.

FTL Team says:
Hello backers, great news: We will be launching the beta within the next 48 hours! In the meantime there are two things you can do for us:
- First, please read our Beta Overview post on our website. It details what to be expected from the beta. Check it out at http://www.ftlgame.com/betaoverview.html
- Second, we will be sending your two Steam keys for the beta through our email address: devteam@ftlgame.com Please make sure that you allow emails from this address if you normally block unknown addresses.
The other Kickstarter rewards for your tier will be addressed in the upcoming months since we’re currently focused on the beta.

Hello wonderful backer. The FTL Beta is upon us! However, before you start playing, please read over the info in this email. It’s rather important.

First, as a reminder, the Beta is Windows only (XP, Vista or 7).

Second, the beta requires a free Steam account. If you don’t have Steam installed, please follow the instructions in the following link: http://store.steampowered.com/about/

Third, by installing, copying, downloading or otherwise using the Beta, you shall be deemed to have agreed to be bound by the terms of the following EULA. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install, copy, download or otherwise use the Beta. http://www.ftlgame.com/betaEULA.html

And finally, here are your keys:
:troll:

To install and play the game, after installing and running Steam, open the LIBRARY tab of your Steam window. In the bottom left there is a button marked “Add a Game”. Click on it, then click “Activate a product on Steam..” Follow the prompts and copy your key into the “Product Code” box when asked. Once you finish downloading the game it should be in your library and you’ll be ready to play!

For additional info on the Beta (including creation of videos and bug reporting) please read through our overview at: http://www.ftlgame.com/betaoverview.html

Once you’re finished reading and start playing, if you would like to help us find and fix bugs you can sign up for an account at: http://www.getsatisfaction.com/FTLgame

If you would like to join our discussions about FTL and everything else, head to our forums at: http://www.ftlgame.com/forum

Thanks!

We need a new Police Quest. Maybe it could take place during the G20 or on Tahir square. It's even going to be an action game to reel in those casual fans.

Police Quest 6 : Don't Taze me Bro.

Over there.
Oh, this thread. I posted this over in the MMO forum, but I guess here is as good as any.

**********COPYPASTA************

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/forsakenstudios/embers-of-caerus-investor-prototype?ref=card

I'll summarize. It's another attempt at a "UO spiritual successor" sandbox MMO. What's piqued my interest is that they've said multiple times that it's not all about combat. The combat focus of Darkfall and Mortal Online, besides craptacular development issues, is what kept me away from those titles. While EoC will have it, the producer has stated that the game is being designed to allow those who choose not to make the whole of their gameplay experience to be combat to still have a satisfying experience.

PR speak, obviously, and very, very early so we're talking about a game that may never see the light of day, or may turn out vastly different than described. Still, their pitch hits the right buttons for me, so I'm thinking about tossing a little something their way.

***********************************

It'll probably end up vaporware, and they're not anticipating a release until 2016. Still, it does sound good on paper, so fuck it.

Investor prototype.

Pass.
For this very reason was added to the shit list sometime ago, Kickstarter is already Pay&Pray as it is, no reason to add an ulterior layer of uncertainty.
Besides, many here are against the whole concept of giving money for getting a publisher, without mentioning that pledge tiers are not legally binding, is alway possible that the publisher will not maintain the promises made by the developers. it's already hard enough that the developers themselves will do.

Emotionally Engaging TellTalle are already doing A King's Quest Game.

Granted they don't make classic point and click adventure games anymore.... (nor would any publisher fund them to make one).

Huh? I'm talking about Quest For Glory... as in, that one is still missing too from Kickstarter.

lurk moare

I think FeelTheRads meant an actual new Quest for Glory, or at least a similar game by the original authors.

Warlord Gromug is an ork warboss and socio-economic spectator who has an over-inflated sense of self-entitlement. He uses his meagre following to launch ill-fated attacks against Imperium space, as well as providing an important and fresh insight into modern pop culture. His videos are used as educational tools in classrooms and are screened at conferences and film festivals [citation needed]. He claims to speak internationally and lots of other things that appear to have no basis in truth.
