Haven't played Skyrim since Dragoborn came out. I have a huge list of mods and some of them mention they are compatible with the expansion and some do not. Any advice on this? I assume graphic improvements, mesh improvements etc would work with Dragonborn. Many of the mods I like dont say whether they will work with it or not.

For those who have played it is the expansion good?

Dragonborn for PC is not out yet. That said, I don't think a pre-modded copy of Skyrim is going to have a problem running it, but we don't have a lot of evidence to support that yet.

I suspect it's going to be a lot like Dawnguard in terms of compatibility with existing mods, and with all its stock textures being muddy and looking like shit, but it should be playable.

My bad I thought it was already out but I guess thats the xbox version only. I will wait another 6 months to a year then probably start a new game after picking up newest versions of all the mods I like (About 30 of them) hoping they will all work with dawnguard.

Will probably happen rather fast and most won't have issues anyway.
Unfortunately it might also mean that some of the good mods will require Dragonborn eventually.

That is probably true, but I dont really mind. The amount of time it takes to setup 30+ mods and start a new game its worth a little bit of money to get the DLC. I think it just adds new lands correct? Does it add new features that will be present in the rest of the game? If so I would think that would make it more likely to be required for other mods.

There's also the possibility that mods incorporate DLC features into the larger games on their own, which is often the case with overhaul mods such as SkyRE.

It seems most of my old mods still work just fine. Patch 1.8. 5 - something

Compass mods - fine.
QD old inventory and Ui mod - just fine.
Ken mod - time on loading screen - fine.
Caliente mod - very fine.
W.A.T.E.R. - fine.
Unofficial Skyrim and Dragonborn patches - work.

Baranziah stones quest markers - still doesnt work at all and shows shit as it use to.

All this with my old saves. Havent gone to Solhstaim new content yet.

Whaaat? It is.

- for your information - i am playing with a female character therefore i require something nice and curvy to look at from behind. Instead of some horrible badly textured ugly stick.

From the screenshots I did see Caliente's proportions are kind of too pornstar. I do find UNP without the Blessed Body optional mod to have better (i.e: More aesthetic) ones. Do check it out if you haven't. :)

Body replacers are all popamole. :M

The only body replacer a self-respecting codexer needs is one that would restore proper beast race anatomy. :obviously:

There's a new version of Realistic Lighting with Customization out, it's now called Realistic Lighting Overhaul.
For people that don't like vanilla lighting but don't want to use ENB, RLO is a good alternative.
Look it up, pretty extensive list of changes now.

Yeah ive seen RLO, already downloaded into NMM. Apparently has a beta occlusion patch that provides some increase in performance but i havent enabled it yet. Thought to try W.A.T.E.R. first and the guy says it might cause problems with mods that deal with lightning.

- body replacer a self-respecting codexer n-
That concept is shallow ego wankery.
I could use a mod that makes Khajjit jump a little bit higher but all i have seen so far seem crappy and enable jumping over the houses or some such crap.

Yeah, i might. Calientes looks alright in game. Good enough for my nefarious purposes of not being annoyed by bad vanilla design. And i generally do not find porn erotic at all.
Or, as much erotic as gynecology.
Ive seen a mod that apparently fixes female skeleton model and animation but ... it seems to me that with Caliente you also get a bit more realistic movement too.

There is a small fix for performance issues "Skyrim performance plus" which deals with some small but performance gutting stuff like leafs falling of the trees, pine needles, rainfall and snow by lowering graphical quality and animation frames of those objects.
Should work nicely for the areas that are known to cause biggest slowdowns.

Good thing I am a self-respecting Fashionista far more than I am a self-respecting Codexer then. :P

It was not my intention to claim that you did pick Caliente for the pornstar quality, nor that you did enjoy such things. Do please forgive me if it did seem that way.

Do you remember the name of this mod you do mention? I would like to give it a try. I did manage to make my character move and behave less like a tomboy with a few animation mods but those I did find do take her to the opposite extreme and now she does move and behave like she's in a never ending photoshoot instead. I would like something slightly more natural while still feminine and graceful.

The two most popular are:
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16712
and
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11064

Although I'm not sure it will make that big of a difference when walking.

RLO suffers from the same problem present in its predecessor and other similar lighting mods, in which the nights are nearly pitch black and interiors are way too fucking dark. The modders and fanboys argue that it's the game's fault that you can't see shit, since Bethesda didn't make torches and other "light sources" illuminate the environment. Light spells and torches also don't fix the problem since its light radius is too short, and any mods that attempt to increase the light radius end up making everything overly bright and bloomtastic.

So the reality of the situation is that now, more than an year after the game's release, there's still no decent lighting mod available. You either pick something that makes the game nearly unplayable due to excessive darkness, or one of those ENB mods that over saturate everything and still make shit too dark.

Is there any mod that fixes the terrible player/camera following Sky Reflection on water?

Well, the nice thing about RLwC was that you could customize it.
I adjusted dungeons/interiors and nights so that they weren't pitch black anymore but just dark enough to make sense and look good.
Admittedly it's not possible to get a perfect result, as different interiors would have slightly different levels of darkness unrelated to (apparent) lighting conditions, but it was much better than the extreme darkness in the "vanilla" mod.

Haven't tested the new version yet (and probably won't for some time, I'm not playing Skyrim atm.), so I can't comment on the possibilities to adjust that.

I'm not sure if this will work but hiver already mentioned W.A.T.E.R. (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13268), it revamps a lot of stuff concerning the water but unfortunately I'm not at my main rig and therefore unable to check it out.
I use that mod, unfortunately it doesn't fix this. I can live with it but... Lazy Bethesda.
It's hardly noticable on rivers maybe that's why i can't find many complaints about it on the net.
