It's hilarious that even Dota can create knowitall armchair quarterbacks.

Seems like an odd hero. I'd imagine his ult can be pure bullshit if you manage to sucessively steal a bunch of ults and cast them. Chronosphere followed by Krob ult followed by ravage trollolol.

Though the cooldown isn't that short, even 2 in a row could be insanely broken. Chronosphere + Leshrac ult, or maybe enigma ult + veno ult. Or maybe broodmother ult + sven ult. On a ranged hero. That sounds balanced.

Not to mention just individual abilities that are broken as fuck when moved off their shitty ass heroes, Like sniper's ult on someone with a mana pool and other shit to cast, or omniknight's repel on... anyone who isn't a shitty melee hero with 1 decent spell and a nice ult. Or overpower on a ranged hero that can't get kited by anyone with a force staff.

Gyro mid vs tinker. Buys hatchet. Of course the enemy team is a 4 stack and their tinker brags about how awesome he is.

Seriously, how can anyone play dota in pubs with the serious intent to win? It's just not fucking possible. It's like entering the olympics against a bunch of boybands and having the judges and officials all be 12 year old girls.

It's so good. I love Rubick, all his abilities are useful and dat spell steal, oh man, oh god.

Dark Seer's vacuum makes that even more annoying early game, as you have to have a flying courier or you are stuck there.

Well yeah, but it wasn't me constantly getting stuck. It was someone playing Kunkka. Still a nice way to get people to waste TP scrolls.

It's hilarious that even Dota can create knowitall armchair quarterbacks.

Thing is, armchair quarterbacking while watching the pros do their magic is much more satisfying and fun than endlessly bitching & raging about your stupid teammates (which seems to consist most of the dota experience - after all, even pros on their matchmaking streams mostly bitch & whine about the bloody game), and since the actual point of this crap is entertainment (unlike, say, MTGO, here even on a semi-pro level you still can't make money ), there's little value in it. The effort required is hardly proportional to the returns you get, so fuck you, kc.

So, can anyone explain to me why I needed to edit the console commands in order to deny my own units?

Gettings scores like 13/0/6 and 12/3/11 but I still don't have a clue what anything does or how to navigate that shop :retarded:

You can deny your own units without that command, it just requires an explicit attack order (you can deny towers under 10% health the same way.) As for why... because that's how it worked in WC3 (since right clicking to attack your own units would be a stupid mechanic for an RTS, since you'd accidentally kill shit all the time, so right click on allied unit > move command, not attack command).

Use the grid mode for the shop, so you don't have to switch between tabs and all the base items are available. When you're looking for higher tier stuff, left click on a lower item to see what it builds up into, then right click or shift click that to buy that/put it in quickbuy. You're going to be fairly fucked until you learn the common items though. If you can remember the name of the item you're looking for, or anything it is built from or into, you can type that in and then navigate from it to what you're looking for. LoL defeinitely made it easier on new players with the organization, at the expense of making it more annoying paging through shit to get to the right screen to buy the shit you want when you already know.

I meant more like why there isn't a toggle in the options to auto own units on right click. In WC3 there's virtually no situations where you want to attack your own troops, but there is here. Some progress would be nice.

All I ask for is a customisable shop, like there is for the quick item tab and (possibly) the starter/recommended items :(

Yeah, hopefully they'll get around to that stuff sooner than later. I get the feeling most of their employees are working on adding new heroes and making stuff pretty for the streams, rather than working on improving the game for the people playing it. But they are making slow progress in these areas. The new hero selector that lets you type in a name is actually pretty fucking awesome, as well as the grid version where you can select by role (even if there are a lot of role inaccuracies.)

Just had two of the most OP huskar games. First one involved soloing rosh and walking out with the aegis before the 7 minute mark then going 9 and 0 in a very short period of time, the second involved me TPing to the enemy base with travels while they were 5 manning mid, then proceeding to wipe out 2 melee (top and bot) rax and their whole team while they walked back, except the first guy who tp'd back, pretty much all by myself. An ally showed up for the last kill, missed his spells but managed to eat a stun to the face that could have been dangerous for me. Checking the replay I'd broken past the 1k xp/min mark after that kill.

God, playing games like this makes me rage so much harder when I lose. I mean, if I did this fucking well in a 4v5 I can't logically fucking conclude that more than like 2% of my losses are actually my fucking fault.

This game is making me a very very angry person. More so than normal. It's weird, LoL never made me this angry. Maybe it's because I'm still really bad and I get very upset with myself when I fuck up and take it out on everyone else. Still, 90% of the games I play are apparently classified as "high" level which makes me wonder how bad people are in the lower brackets. Also fuck Natures Profit, no matter whose team he's on I end up wishing for the painful death of whoever is playing him.

Treading water, but at least it's warm
Funny, this game stresses me out way less than HoN, and so far most people have been pretty chill. Could be because I'm still in the beginning tier though. I'm glad to hear there's some kind of alternate shopping mode, the tabbed one is pretty tedious to navigate. Of course, I also am still translating HoN items back to Dota2 items. Pretty much whoring Lina (Pyro) with (names are going to be wrong) steamboots, blink dagger, hellflower while I try and learn the shop and start recognizing other heroes.

So how does the matchmaking work in this game? As far as I can tell the main thing it's keeping track of is just my wins, no MMR or ELO system or whatever. Not sure how that makes me feel. The great thing about HoN before last year's epic collapse was all the stats you could look at and graph on 3rd party stats. On the other hand, people are less likely to freak out because you're ruining their stats.

There's a MMR I think but the system is quite bad at matching people of similar skill, so they hid it.

I just had the worst fucking necro on my team in the universe. Raged at me all game long for not riding his fucking dick and saving him from every dumbfuck overextension he made. I got 8-2 and pick up rosh? I'm throwing the game. Should have saved necro when he tower dove instead, we'd have totally gotten a kill. I tp to successfully save an ally being tower dived, get a kill but lose the aegis because they threw a fucking black hole at me, and it's my fault and I wasted the aegis. I take two fucking towers and a rax top, in exchange for our tier 3 bot (but we keep the rax) this fucking cretin tells me it was a bad trade and I lost us the game. I buyback for a fucking triple kill, including dusting their carry (because my team is far too stupid to buy dust) and it was apparently all saved by necro.

Of course we end up losing in the end because our only initiation is me, and our fucking necro uses his ult on a full hp windrunner instead of the pudge who ulti'd me.

Had a game today, a team held us off 3v5 for like 15 minutes because team was bad. Enemy team was a Windrunner, Dark Seer, and Jugg, and the first two were skilled players. They did really well defending, but it was that my team shit their pants every time I tried to initiate (batrider, had blink and force staff). It's so obnoxious how often that happens, do well and break all their towers early, then they just turtle and my team isn't good or coordinated enough to actually get into their base for like 15 or 20 more minutes despite a massive advantage.

edit- one of my friends, the one who goes by failtard supreme, played sand king and didn't level stun until level 4, he got 2 levels of caustic and one sandstorm first

Tried brew for the first time yesterday. Feels weird playing him- drunken haze is so good I almost feel bad using the ult. Easy to play decently though, all you really need to do is blink in, eat 2k damage, then ult and not die when it ends. Just wasting all those enemy spells makes you useful. All the spells you cast are icing.
