Playing Star Wolves 3. Surprisingly decent tactical space game once you're a few hours in, it's even got tons of C&C. Ridiculous difficulty level until you learn the ins and outs of it though. Don't wanna know how many times I've reloaded.

It's more like Abuse, if a bit more complicated. The (12) levels are more open, there are some physics puzzles, and the movement is more elaborate. Overall it's pretty sweet for a first effort from a two-man team.

Dammit, I just spent the whole night playing Civilization 2 ! It took me quite a few tries to manage to defeat 7 civilizations on Emperor difficulty... and I didn't remember just how long a single game could be, even on a small map. Once your victory is certain, the game can become rather boring, since the IA never admits defeat and forces you to conquer every single enemy city. In the second half of my last game, for some reason, barbarians started spawning on almost every turn ; they weren't a challenge, but they were certainly annoying.

Back when the game was fairly recent, I was so horribly addicted to it that I had to destroy the CD to stop myself spending so many hours playing it.

Finally finished Terror from the fucking Deep for the first time after fuck knows how many tries. Alien Colonies spawning like there's no tomorrow and Tenta-fucking-culats raping my poor aquanauts were almost too much for me, but it's finally over and after finishing this game I can die as a happy man.

Now I'm waiting for Chivalry 2: Sicilian Vespers 4.0 to came and when it will be finally released I wil waste many days and nights on this sucker for sure.

I wasted 3 days playing modded X-Com3 6-7 games a day. Horribly addictive shit, constantly gives the player something to do with no period of rest. I stopped playing it because of its vicious addictive design.

Gunship - I played it using my new FCS lots of fun and satisfaction from 20 minutes of flight. Great game.

Lasers Squad - another satisfying game non-time-wasting game. I discovered that there's a java version with a mission editior. I'll check it out.

UFO:AI - I tried playing it but it seems that the auto-resolve function doesn't seem to be finished.

Would you be so kind to tell what mod\s are you using? I would gladly give this game one more chance if there are some sweet mods for it.

How do you like it so far? Is it bugged, broken in any way? I remember people felt disappointed on release because of bugs or something...

Not appreciating these Il-2 Sturmovik tutorials where I spent half the 15 minutes staring at my dashboard waiting for the next message and another half waiting for them to actually demonstrate it

It's my own changes.

Stuff like UFO1 deadliness, more realistic price proportions (with stuff like machine guns costing about 100$ and aircraft costing 3,000,000$), etc.

Was the graphicswhore game, though.
Yes, and so was Gunship 2000 when that came out (early 90's), but they were also great helicopter sims lite. Actually 2000 wasn't that lite, from what I remember.

I only played it (for certain values of "played" - being young kid, no grasp of language, bad rip and no manual are somewhat limiting when playing a simulator or other fairly complex game) because I was stuck on C64 'till early pentium era - the game came out when I was 2.

It's pretty buggy/broken. The basic flight and damage models are superb but unfortunately the actual content is underdeveloped, and the program as a whole is a buggy, underperforming mess. Still, I'm having a whole lot of fun with it and the game is easily deeper and more complex than its predecessor. There's a much greater focus on engine management, for example, where keeping your engine happy is as much a part of the game as killing the enemy. Gunnery is a much greater challenge as well, although this is primarily a function of the peashooters with which the Hurricane and Spitfire were armed. It's entirely possible to expend all of your ammunition on a bomber to no visible effect unless you aim for the vulnerable points or kill the crew. Overall it's a good game, but just released way too early.

The younguns of today :smug:
 (not that I was that much older, really; then again I played it around 88-89, hence my confusion with release date, and by then I was old enough to figure it out. Then it go out-graphicswhored by 2000 when that came out, in 90 or 91)

I'm honestly not sure whether to recommend either game now. I have extremely fond memories of 2000, but that may be just nostalgia, as I haven't replayed the game since then. It was definitely more simulation and less action game than Comanche Maximum Overkill (which I love and think is great action game, but it's not a flight sim), but I haven't played any other helicopter sims to really compare (apart from a very brief stint with... Apache Longbow I think?). Since I know you don't care much for age of the game I think you should try at least Gunship 2000 if you can find it. Mobygames claims there's a CD version released in 93; otherwise I may still have a ZIP file of the floppy version on one of my external drives.

Fake edit: Underground Gamer have the CD (all 2 megabytes of it  ) if you have an account there. If not and you're interested let me know and I'll go digging in my archives.

Mass Effect 1.

First, it seemed like a good idea (don't know how this urge came about) , but after the unfixed bug of my character floating in the air ruined 4 hrs of progression (forgot, that I have to save the game due to bugs) and then just how dumb is the AI in it, my 2 idiot team members won't take cover like in ME2 , suddenly made me realize how shitty this game is and I stopped playing it. I want my money back, even if I didn't pay for it..I want reparation for my time wasted on this! :x

Same here  .

I bet it's the same version that I have played. Only one mission and crashed at the end?

I actually bought my copy of Gunship two years ago. I bought it sealed. And then I bought a copy of Gunship Academy book.
I also have Project Stealth Fighter and Silent Service (SS was sealed too).

Neither was Gunship. It was easy to play because it had a different control model than later helicopter sims. While in most of helicopter sims, one steers by analog joystick with the helicopter returning to default pitch when the joystick is centered, in Gunship pitch was increased or decreased by pressing keys which makes flying easier as it doesn't require holding joystick in the same position for extended periods of time.

Im wasting my time with Din's Curse Demon war. And LoL. Waiting for Witcher 2, just realised I messed up the dates, I thought it was the 10th not the 17th of May day the game releases.

But Dins Curse is fucking addictive, creating new worlds and heros in a sec. Perfect for 30 minute breaks, its like Diablo playground sandbox, those world modifiers really make the game a riot. Its like its bitchslapping you all the time and you keep coming back for more.

Sounds pretty sweet, but it's a shame it's unfinished, I was looking forward to a good simulation. The best I have right now are jets in ARMA 2...

Didn't the original Gunship have only oen mission anyway? Or was it one theatre of operations with several missions? I only remember Gunship 2000 had 2 (East Europe and Middle East) and its expansion added another two, but I never played it. And I don't remember how many missions there were per campaign.

Awesome :D I'm pretty sure I no longer have Gunship but I should still have my 2000 floppies, probably back at my parents'.

Heh, I don't remember this at all.

I do remember the main menu music though :)
