What game are you wasting time on?

I only played it (for certain values of "played" - being young kid, no grasp of language, bad rip and no manual are somewhat limiting when playing a simulator or other fairly complex game) because I was stuck on C64 'till early pentium era - the game came out when I was 2.
Same here  .
:salute: : x

vaguely remember playing badly ripped version of it on C64.
I bet it's the same version that I have played. Only one mission and crashed at the end?
Might be the same single mission plus just static intro screen with AH64 - got mine on tape with some compilation of various games.

Then partially overwrote it due to counter error when trying to exploit surplus space at the end of the tape.

I wasted 3 days playing modded X-Com3 6-7 games a day. Horribly addictive shit, constantly gives the player something to do with no period of rest. I stopped playing it because of its vicious addictive design.

It's funny how the term "addictive" is often used as a positive/selling point in a game's favor, yet is used negatively when referring to other activities such as drinking, drugs, sex, etc.

Any time I hear the word "addictive" used to describe something, it only acts as a deterrent.

Did this compilation also have Laser Squad?

Didn't the original Gunship have only oen mission anyway? Or was it one theatre of operations with several missions? I only remember Gunship 2000 had 2 (East Europe and Middle East) and its expansion added another two, but I never played it. And I don't remember how many missions there were per campaign.
Gunship has a free form training map and randomly generated maps for randomly generated missions in four campaigns - South East Asia (Vietnam), South America, Middle East and Western Europe. Each with its characteristic types of enemy equipment.

Sceptic said:
Neither was Gunship. It was easy to play because it had a different control model than later helicopter sims. While in most of helicopter sims, one steers by analog joystick with the helicopter returning to default pitch when the joystick is centered, in Gunship pitch was increased or decreased by pressing keys which makes flying easier as it doesn't require holding joystick in the same position for extended periods of time.
Heh, I don't remember this at all.

I do remember the main menu music though :)
Gunship had two modes - realistic and arcade. I play only in realistic mode.

It's because their main customers are gaming addicts and the reviewers are probably high school drop-outs.
They can't understand that for a responsible, working/learning person stuff like getting drawn into spending many hours of playing without real satisfaction is unacceptable.

Because the truth about addictive games is that they aren't satisfying to play. They aren't really good, they are like empty calories.
When a game is really good, one can love it but still play half a hour a day and be satisfied with playing it.
It's not necessary to spend more and more time playing it.

Nope, IIRC.

2400 AD and Dark Heart of Uukrul, obviously. Also toying around with Deathlord and Whale's Voyage.

Trying to play Crysis but the damn textures keep changing quality all the time (I think it's called pop-in?) no matter what graphical settings I try. This is making the game simply unplayable for me.

Armored Brigade. There's a new version.

Exile 2 demo. I have withdrawn from a dungeon, survived a random encounter fight with Goblins and then returned to a town. I went to an inn, put my party to sleep, saved the game and quit the game. It took me about 10 minutes.
Good game design :obviously: .

Was recently playing An Untitled Story, which has been awesome. Found it after watching some LP videos of Tastes like Spelunky and checking the guy's channel. TLS was also very awesome. I haven't won it yet, but I'm not going to obsess over it, since it can be quite unfair compared to vanilla, in that your item slots are a lot more limited, especially if you're trying to reach the City of Meat.

Entering Rant Mode, Please Be Careful

Rage quit Dragon Age 2 at the end of Act 2, I did consider posting a long rant, but decided against, all you need to know is.....It's craptacular

On the flip side I was able to get all the Baldur's Gate games for £15

Completed Muramasa - Demon Blade (started more than a year ago)

Decided to test AvP2 AGAIN - it was broken since forever due to Nvidia incompetence (graphical glitches).
To my surprise, it works fine with newest drivers.

Already finished Marine and Predator campaigns, started:

Finished my third Alpha Protocol playthrough. Had everyone like me, cockteased all the ladies only to backpedal at the last possible moment (doing this with Madison and SIE gives Perks), joined Halbech, betrayed and punched out Leland. Hearing Mike recount the long, long list of his friends felt good.

In other ways, this playthrough was less satisfying than the previous two. It was a Recruit/Hard run, and it really was pretty damn hard at times. Mini-games in particular were fucking brutal near the end, even with Sabotage maxed out. 5 tumblers locks and 10+ nods keypads in 15 seconds? Impossible for me. EMP grenades helped, but I ran out of them in a couple of missions, forcing me to miss some stuff. Didn't complete Marburg's dossier, for example.

Enemies were much more hard-hitting and durable, but Chain Shot, Brilliance and Overclocked flashbangs were as OP as ever. One part in Taipei where the game spawned a shotgun-armed CSP officer two steps ahead of me with no cover in between was damn annoying, and that's it.

Still the best shooter/RPG hybrid since Bloodlines.

Installed Heroes of Might and Magic 2. God the game is glorious. I haven't played it since 98 or 99 when HoMM3 came out. HoMM3 never ever left my hard drive and was present on all of my PCs since it came out. Now I am enjoying the nostalgic memories of HoMM2. It seems so wonderful playing it after 13 years.

Also installed Brigade E5 for the first time. The game is bug ridden piece of shit with the lamest and most boring side missions but it manages to be addictive somehow. Probably due to it's huge amount of guns and modifications for guns.

You should do a proper Alpha Protocol LP next, Kalos-kun. ;)

Is The Dark Spire beatable without a party of dual classes as I fucked up on my character creation with basically all but one of the chars?

I wouldn't recommend it. Going through the sixth floor onwards with a party where only one person can cast arcane spells sounds like an exercise in frustration, whereabouts are you?

Floor 2, I think. I just turned in some crap to the pirates and they sailed away. It was the first thing I did after returning to the game from a break. Absolutely no fucking clue what to do next.

Third Floor now after coming back to it as I take a break from Infinite Space. I just said "Fuck it" and looked up a guide to finish the teleporting jewel quest where there's an asshole of a trap that sends you back to another floor if you don't deactivate it first (deactivation lever found in a totally random spot, naturally). I've worked out the mechanics for dual classing; I just have to spend a few thousand experience points into certain stats and then I'll be okay. I've read that you can fix the elevator at some point and then use that to go up and down the tower; can't wait for that moment because hoofing it back to the third floor can be a bit of a bitch.

Icewind Dale + Expansion for the first time. I always ignored the IWD games because "a dungeon crawler on the IE? Why the fuck would I play that?". But i'm liking it so far.

Party:

Fighter(3)->Mage
Ranger(3)->Cleric
Half-Elf Fighter/Thief
Dwarf Fighter
Paladin
Half-Elf Druid

First time I play an IE game with a pure druid...let's see how she does.
