Klingon Academy, since a new patch has been released to fix compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows.

It is once again a good day to die.

Is the 3rd Birthday anygood?
No.

Not that I don't believe you or anything, but could I have some specifics?
Well, it's a very repetitive third-person shooter with bad controls and camera. The story is pretty nonsensical and, I actually think, a lot more pretentious than the previous games. Disregarding the gameplay, I felt like I was playing FF7: Crisis Core. It's about on the same level.

WiF is pretty good. Of course, it keeps crashing every 1-2 years or so, but autosaves make sure I don't lose too much progress on the whole. I think I'll try the Modern World mod next.

Is The Dark Spire beatable without a party of dual classes as I fucked up on my character creation with basically all but one of the chars?

I wouldn't recommend it. Going through the sixth floor onwards with a party where only one person can cast arcane spells sounds like an exercise in frustration, whereabouts are you?

Floor 2, I think. I just turned in some crap to the pirates and they sailed away. It was the first thing I did after returning to the game from a break. Absolutely no fucking clue what to do next.

Playing a fair amount of Rift at the moment - it kinda feels like wow and Warhammer but not shit. Remember when you first played WoW and it was kinda fun? You know before burning crusade? That is where it is now. It also rewards you for riding around and exploring which I think is a refreshing change.

Playing the odd Bloodbowl match in the Codex league and Bayonetta on the console. Running through as Jeane instead of Bayonetta though which is a little more difficult that I anticipated...

Majesty 2, surprisingly new developers haven`t ruined Majesty franchise.

Interesting. I heard enough bad things about it to avoid even at a $4 price tag. A lot of fans of the original blast it mercilessly. Overall it just seems to be about trial and error in terms of scouting out the monster lairs and getting to them early.

Anyway, I've played Gothic 3 about five or six hours so far and it isn't anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be -- maybe my opinion will change as I get further in, though. I like the liberation/enslavement mechanic and while the reputation thing might be a bit ham-fisted, it isn't that much different from the standard quests you had to do in G1 and G2 in terms of proving yourself to a faction to join them.

(Okay the combat is pretty bad.)

Dead Space 2, which was a big disappointing since the first game pleasantly surprised me. Gone are the atmosphere, the claustrophobia, the sense of exploration, the backtracking and the relative lack of handholding; say hello to a generic, depressingly linear, full-of-handholding third person shooter with no atmosphere, a slew of stupid fucking minigames and a story that makes no sense. Even the some of the guns that were awesome to use (like the Line Gun and the fully upgraded Pulse Rifle) have been nerfed into oblivion. And whereas the first game required button-mashing against exactly one type of enemy (that you would never have to fight if you were careful) the sequel is FULL of stupid pseudo-cutscenes where you're supposed to mash E until your keyboard breaks. And why all the changes? DS sold millions FFS! What a fucking disappointment.

Gone back to Sacred Gold, now on Underworld. It's starting to feel a little stale (Sacred 2 is much better), will try to finish it quickly and get it out of the way.

Toying with the idea of playing Crysis 2 just for the hell of it.

I've set Gothic 3 aside. Of course I just played through 1 and 2 so I'm probably burnt out for now. Figured I'd play through Shadowgrounds since I got it in the recent Humble Bundle. Not bad so far.

I've just finished Knight of The Old Republic 1. Again. Dualblaster gunlinger in her undie, finished!!!! All females in their undie only, finished!!! Daaaaaaah!

The gameplay is still easy even at that restriction, but that's okay. KOTOR1 is like instant ramen, it has its place, it's fun, it's edible in multiple occasions, it's good with various spices.

Started replaying Homeworld Cataclysm, it's still decent fun. If only they'd make a proper sequel to Homeworld; I never liked the second game much, because of changes to the UI and fighters and whatnot.

I am strolling through the icy landscapes of Icewind Dale 1 right now. Kick ass.

Just finished Icewind Dale and expantions. A bit burned out by now, but overall it was a nice D&D dungeon crawling. Hot loot, varied combat, nice lore & locations. After a pause (Space Rangers 2) second part awaits. No way i gonna replay BGs.

Playing through Alpha Protocol now. Back when I first picked it up my saves were corrupted fairly early on and I didn't want to bother with a fresh install at the time. The patch they released in the interim supposedly fixed that problem, which I'm glad for, even if the game still does run mostly like shit.

I'm enjoying it though. Quite a bit. The combat is fairly mediocre, but not so much as to annoy me or make me want to not play, and I wish there were some social skills...but I'm enjoying the sort of frantic feel that the story has. I'm also enjoying the unpredictability of the dialogue system a lot more than I thought.

Also on the plate is the ever growing pile of things to be built in Minecraft. I just finished an Edwardian style manor house and am now in the process of excavating a giant pit mine so I have the resources for the arcology I've been planning. Final size is currently slated at 64x64x64 blocks. I have no idea if I'll even be able to see from one end of the main corridor to the other when it's done.

Mostly Shogun 2 online these days. It's great fun.

Also occasional hot spurts of Bad Company 2 action with my bros. I suck incredibly: I get stuck between trees, constantly miss with my popamole knife and regularly rely on noob tactics like using an rpg against infantry. :M

Finished Shadowgrounds. Relatively short -- around five or six hours at a casual pace. Not bad, decent shooter with a semi-decent B movie type story and voice acting. The last two levels are pretty bad, though, compared to the first nine. I probably wouldn't have bought this even at $2.50 on its own so if you think you have any interest you're better off picking it up on the current Humble Bundle.

I haven`t played that much of it yet due to lack of time but this would be what i have noticed:

More reward flags- good. In original you had explore and attack flags, now you have fear and defend flags too. Thou i`m not sure how fear flag exactly works, will have to test it out. For example if no reward is given for fear flag maybe brave champion just ignores it and gets ass raped by some Dragon.

Lords- good. It`s nice to "save" some chmapions from map to map and the hard limit of only 3 being hireable and their high price makes it more of a luxury stuff than an easy win, i dunno, maybe some champions at certain level are exploitable with this but i haven`t noticed it yet.

Graveyard for ressurecting champions, dunno, on one hand it looks like an amazing thing on the other thing i found out to be rather huge money sink most of the time- if heroes are getting killed by monsters chances are that they`ll get picked off again.

Being unable to remove some buildings from tax/repair route sucks. Some fag peasant decided to build his shack at the edge of your kingdom where lots of evil things tend to roam? Too fucking bad, be ready to see your peasants and tax collectors getting killed there.

Trade posts and temples being limited to certain places. Mixed bag, from one side i like how in original you could place them anywhere(well trading post had to be at certain distance from marketplace but not the point) on the other hand i like that it gives you aditional motivation to expand first to the west because you scouted out a place for trading post and so on.

I think that monsters lost a bit of flavor- ratman and trolls for example doesn`t seam to be attracted to marketplaces anymore but on the other hand their dwellings are more detailed and when you see one you know who is coming from that dark castle while in original it was pretty much random cave with random shit getting out of it.

It seams that there are less champions and low tier champs can be upgraded to higher tier ones. This is rather shitty but it wasn`t great in original either when certain heroes were in essence useless when high tier ones entered the play. Also latest expansions allows to play with monster kingdom, they have similar functions but it`s still rather cool.

Difficulty seams about the same(i have replayed original recently) but i haven`t reached expert levels yet.

What were the negative things you heard?

Currently I'm playing System Shock again and as of now I have to retrieve the Reactor self destruct code. Since I was lazy I didn't bother writing down the red number near the computer nodes in every level.

Playing Demon's Souls again. I'm on New Game++ now with my Temple Knight build. Quite fun, although after this round I don't think my character will have any further to grow.

No idea what to play next.
