I would preferred a more classic fantasy art-settings, i'm totally not into the same boring annoyng all-fucking-wastelands-deserts post-apocalyptic style with only brown colors
Don't worry, there's plenty of purple to go with the brown.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I'm excited. PoE wasn't Obsidian's best game, but it was still a game I enjoyed playing.

I write complex, branching conversations that fulfill any number of objectives. Dialogues track reputation changes, past actions and future cutscenes through global variables and on enter / on exit scripting. This requires working closely with Level Designers to determine the unique needs of each conversation, staying on top of shifting priorities, and keeping consistent with the project's tone and objectives. Primary tools of focus are Obsidian's proprietary dialogue editor and the Unity engine.

Well, I won't mind anything as long as we get true C&C... If the game is truly replayable, it doesn't matter that it's 20-hour long, eh?

I'd like a departure from PoE's C&C, it was there but most quests were so bland and boring it was pointless.

PCWorld seem to be nudging against the embargo a bit: http://www.pcworld.com/article/3044...w-isometric-crpg-where-youre-the-bad-guy.html

We were told however that the game is, despite the shared Pillars heritage, a very different kind of RPG. Obsidian is actively avoiding the typical zero-to-hero arc of most games in the genre. Instead you play as a leader, an already-powerful presence in theTyranny world when the game starts.

And that world? Obsidian described it as a world where the ultimate battle between good and evil already took place—and evil won. Which makes your role as a leader in said world quite a bit more interesting, especially since Obsidian's boasting that Tyranny's gameplay will feature a branching narrative.

C&C at character creation? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-03-15-obsidian-announces-new-rpg-tyranny

Due out at some point in 2016, Tyranny isn't a successor to Pillars of Eternity, but it does run on the same engine.

This time out you create a character who played a key role in the domination of this land. Dubbed the "Fatebinder", you customise not only their look but also their history as you select certain decisions they made in the recent upheaval. These drastically affect the state of the world, and Obsidian promises many branching storylines.

I always wanted Might and Magic VIII like VII but where Archibald won; or Wiz8 where evil party won.
It's not as interesting to play game where evil won if you never saw how world looked before that happened.

The focus on branching narrative and choices & consequences is definetely promising. If the price to pay for having that is a shorter duration it's an acceptable compromise, provided the game actually has at least New Vegas' levels of reactivity.
They should totally show some true gameplay video, though. After all the fuss in the last three days it's disappointing how they came up only with a short teaser trailer, a world map and some basic informations on the setting.

Apparently Paradox owns the trademark on this thing? That's... interesting.

They are paying to develop this, what is surprising about that?

Because it indicates either the original idea came from Paradox or Obs sold them the IP for development cash. Either way, not what I was hoping to see from the Paradox/Obs relationship after PoE.

I wonder when we'll find out that Obsidian put all their effort into Tyranny instead Pillars of Eternity, and they made PoE with the left hand. Better brace for the butthurt when Tyranny turns out to be much better game with with much better writing than Pillars of Boredom.

You mean - smaller word count overall?

Well, having the backup of a neat publisher is always better than what you can get from some Kickstarter, ain't it? Also, after PoE, people will be more reluctant to support such a gimmick in the future.

Besides, it's easy to have fewer words than PoE and its massive and mostly pointless walls of text.

That wouldn't be very surprising.

Pillows was made as a quick cash influx and to garner some much needed positive PR. Most of the designers on pillows had never played an IE game in their lives, and from the ones that did? They either sucked at them (Brennecke) or hated them with a fucking passion (Sawyer).

The whole thing was a cynical cashgrab to keep their company afloat.

I'd like to add my wild speculation to this: it's an ARPG broadly in the vein of diablo, but with more emphasis on quests, dialogue and impact on the world. Combat will be either RT or RTwP tuned to play 100% RT.

Functionally, it lets another subset of obsidian employees skill-up on the PoE-type content creation pipelines, unity engine quirks etc while bringing in a buck. It's the IWD of the PE games.

This also means that when Tyranny is released, PoE 2's prepro should be well underway or almost done, and if the PoE2 team is larger than PoE1, the Tyranny production crew can go over to supporting the ramp-up in PoE2 content creation.

I doubt that this is a diablo clone. Doesn't mesh with the description.

The word "Diablo" has too much pure hack and slash dungeon crawling baggage. Divine Divinity clone?

It's probably gonna be RTwP.

If it turns out an outright Diablo, then again it will be the wrong genre for what they want to accomplish. A Diablo with C&C seems interesting, but hard to do, and harder to do well.

Then again PoE's concept merged awfully with a BG hack-n-slash approach. The only way they found was tuning down combat exp to a minimum, which turned the combat to a chore.

It's the IWD of the PE games.
Actually, it's more like the PS:T of the PE games.

Protagonist with a dark past? Check.
Subversion of prominent cRPG tropes? Check.
Focus on role-playing and questing? Check.
