As long as Josh Sawyer is not tasked with the creation of the ruleset/gameplay mechanics I might buy it.

They have a clear premise. A lot better than PoE. The world looks like PoE but with Adra being replaced by purple crystals... Hopefully just shitty screenshots.

They've hopefully got other people designing character and combat systems.

I'm not gonna count it out but yeah with Unity it's probably gonna be shit regardless.

So, this is the re-purposed "Defiance" game that Feargus talked about some years ago but no publisher wanted to do.

Well, at least it doesn't look like a PoE snooze, so I shall remain optimistic.... for now.

Feargus quote from the press release:

“Four years ago, we hoped the world wanted to be reacquainted with classic, story-rich RPGs. As it turned out, the answer to that was an emphatic ‘yes,’” said Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment. “Since then, there’s been a renaissance in RPGs thanks to games like Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin and others. What’s incredible is that we’ve been able to continue evolving the types of RPGs we make since Obsidian was founded in 2003. With Tyranny, we love the twist we’ve put on the world which started with the premise ‘What if evil already won?’ Coupled with that is our ongoing dedication to giving our players games full of choice and consequence. Games they can play not just once, but many times.”

What did he say here ? I am not following. That is like 500 words of nothing meaningful.

Still 2016 seems crazy early for this release. On other hand it is good that they are using their unity experience with more games. They probably have now tools aside from unity that will allow them faster developement.

Sooo.. this means that PoE2 release will be ~2018 ? Assuming they will do PoE2 kickstarter this year or "help building" game kickstarter like larian in 2017

Well I assumed people were more inclined to show expressively that they don't like PoE but it seems they won't go as far as claiming beamdog does anything good. :M
Though I remember a time a shit ton of people claimed so :smug:

That calls for a new news post with the shocking headline 'Tim Cain working on new Tranny game'. :M

Can you reply back to ask what his role is?

The premise means almost nothing until we see some quests.
I don't have high hopes for this, but I will be happy to be disappointed (but not in the same way, as with POE).

I like pretty much everything but the premise of the game. Playing a dark lord that has thousands of soldiers beneath him? Why would someone like that go out on adventure? Why doesnt he simply command his hordlings to do what he wishes to be done?

And will i be able to play a good character in this world, or am i forced into some evil alignment?

This somehow feels like Dragon Age Inquisition all over again, hopefully im wrong though.
