Good stuff once again

So enemies can have up to 3 defensive masteries similar to impulse field just to protect them from being AOE one shot in packs :lol:

Guys I think I need your help with building Heixing early on, because I have no idea what's good for him at this point in the game. I want to put "you are already dead" mastery set on him, is it worth it? I've figured that victory roar is a must have for him, because he really needs overcharge, since he's constantly starved for vigor. Aside from this and +hit chance masteries I have no idea what else to put on him.

Yeah, roar of victory is good for vigor issues. There are also vigor potions. They can help Heixing a lot. You may also consider playing ranger: it has a mastery that reduces vigor consumption by 50%.

I don't have much experience with the game yet, but I've been looking at Irene and I think she might be the most clusterfuck character in the game:
  1. She's a melee character and most of her abilities are single target, so this implies her being able to maneuver around battlefield and take out high priority targets, but her abilities have a massive amount of cast delay and long cooldowns on top of it, significantly more than even caster type characters, who have massive AOE nukes, have to deal with;
  2. Her strongest personal mastery (lonely hero) requires her to not have allies in a very large radius around her. Troubleshooter is a team focused game, where everyone in general deals huge amounts of damage, so having at least a couple of allies for emergency heals, CC, support abilities or just to back you up in case you get sent into AT hell is almost mandatory. Not to mention that the game is incredibly cramped and usually several dozen units fight in areas that are quite small for the crowds that big, so you don't even have a lot of room to go in alone. And finaly, such playstyle makes you miss out on all of the synergy related things, like off turn attacks, for example. Another one of her masteries allows her to automatically follow up with her offensive abilities if the target survives being hit by her overcharge ability, which probably does not ever happen until very late game, and even then probably only boss type enemies can realistically tank such an attack, so this mastery is extremely niche. Also, I swear I remember that her overcharge attack used to ignore target's dodge and block chances, now the description doesn't say anything about it anymore, what happened, did they nerf it?
  3. She leaves fire behind her which can turn into an obstacle for other members of the team. And although I haven't encountered them yet, but I suspect that there will be enemies that gain various bonuses if they attack characters set on fire, may be there will even be "powered up" burning effects later in the game, like severe bleeding is a deadlier version of bleeding status effect, so the fire tiles might be even more troublesome than they look like;
  4. Her abilities have weird damage scaling. Certain abilities scale mostly with ESP and others with attack power, other characters also have something like this, but with other characters it's mostly very clear wether their damage primarily scales from ESP power or from attack power, but in case with Irene it's just way messier due to a big amount of abilities available to her and more even distribution of attack power abilities and ESP power abilities, so you are likely to find yourself in a situation where you want to use a certain ability, but it just doesn't scale well with your primarily offensive attribute, the only way to remedy this is to equip a mastery exclusive to a battle mage class - supporting magic circuit;
  5. The whole battle mage thing with concentrated magic power is just very convoluted thanks to broken english in this game, I would probably have a very hard time trying to figure it out on my own, but thankfully some guy on the internet made a good video guide about Irene;
  6. Her only basic attack deals blunt damage, but her every other ability does fire damage, so her basic attack ability scales very poorly with masteries and other bonuses or doesn't scale at all. You simply can't afford to stack something related to blunt, while fire based abilities are so much more important and are way stronger in general. This is of course way worse for melee characters than for casters (like Sion), because melee characters are going to use their basic attacks for their off turn attacks.
You know, botched english is starting to get to me. I will have to repeat myself to provide an example, the whole concentrated magic power stuff, that is one of the most important things about a battle mage class, is just hard to understand due to poor translation, it's pretty bad, just try reading mastery descriptions, it's a mess. For an additional example I want to mention black mage's passive - black magic circuit, which boosts character's critical hit chance and damage depending on how many ESP power masteries he has equipped. "What is an ESP power mastery" you might ask, is it anything that gives bonuses related to ESP power attribute? Do masteries like willpower, mage, magic bash, magic theory count for the bonus? Fuck no, you are wrong, the only masteries that count towards the bonus are the ones that have the icon with the element that the characters uses. So, only Sion and Bianca can be black mages, Sion is a lightning user, so in order for him to gain benefits from black magic circuit he needs to equip masteries with lightning icon on them and Bianca needs to equip masteries with wind icons, oh and the mastery sets that have those icons count towards the bonus too... Just how the fuck are you supposed to figure that out on your own without guides?! Well, may be you can, if you spend a lot of time on this game and are really bent up on trying out different things and figuring them out, but it's absolutely not the type of thing that should require you to do some involved research, things like that should have clear descriptions of how they work and what they do.

Here's yet another example, just look at this description. It's one of the witch's masteries, I have no idea how the fuck does it work.
2.jpg

So, offensive ESP abilities that deal damage can trigger some sort of debuff on enemies that has a small chance to randomly become a buff, and supporting and healing ESP abilities can trigger buffs on allies that have a small chance to become debuffs, am I getting this right? Does not work with constricting root, right? Does it still work for Anne's starlight arrow and starlight explosion even if I have arresting force mastery equipped? Does it work with call of starlight? It technically doesn't inflict buffs or debuffs, only interacts with them, but it might still not work with it, because of some technical restrictions or some other shit, I don't know.

Look at this mastery - magic acceleration, who the fuck writes descriptions like that? Why not just say something like this: "Doubles abilities vigor cost" or "Doubles the amount of vigor consumed by using abilities", I don't think that even free online translators botch the text so hard, just how the fuck did they manage to come up with this?
1.jpg

I think people who say that this game's translation is fine are being dishonest, it's not fine, it's bad, at least at certain times. Not awful, not terible, but bad, although most of dialogues are pretty clear, I can't say the same about various masteries descriptions.

Seems pretty clear to me. Witch's prank gives mental debuff on damage and a mental buff on heal/support ability. Magic acceleration just buffs ESP damage. No need to be autistic and overanalyze every mastery.

What is the best/fastest mission to farm Sharky for his Recluse mastery? I only know first act story Jigsaw mission, but it has a ton of dialogue. Some masteries are annoying af to get.

Depending on your team's strength it is either story mission Ch. 2.4 or v23.

Another approach is to max info on everyone. You pick a district bonus that gives you info and spam v15 in normal. You enter from north kill one boss retreat. On a report, a few enemies will have their info maxed out.

However, I would farm Sharky info only if I did not max it after v23.

Is the development of the game finished?
I beg to inform you that it is not. I apologize if this response have upset you. That means I have failed as a messenger. It would make me feel so much shame, and force me to work two, nay, five times harder to deliver unto you a better worded negative message.

Do you guys like Ray? Do you guys want to financially support her to buy new clothes help the devs? In the future, this will be possible via paid costume DLC.

So there's a mastery set for the witch class, which allows her to act as an automatic buff dispenser for allies and debuff for enemies, whenever she sees shit die.
bandicam-2022-01-30-00-34-49-260.png

I felt like farming Ryo for masteries, and on hard + challenging he turns into level 50 edgy boy
bandicam-2022-01-30-00-30-01-068.png

While the party was clearing out the way Albus received a buff via Anne, which I've never even seen before
bandicam-2022-01-30-00-30-03-684.png

With this buff he was able to take down Ryo in a single tornado slash...
bandicam-2022-01-30-00-30-35-773.png

I later learned that this buff did jack shit in that scenario and Albus pwned Ryo solely thanks to the masteries and gear he had equipped.

But that Anne thing is still hilarious. I've seen Sion recieve additional 500 ESP power from those buffs alone, he got discipline, rage and some other stuff I can't even remember. And Sion already AOE oneshots enemies through block without them, with those buffs he probably crashes the game with his attacks, I don't know what else would he need them for.

It can get even more hilarious when you send in some cop to act as a meatshield, so enemies gang up and start beating him up, and just when he's about to kick the bucket he rolls up immortality on Anne's slot machine.

So I actually cleared (killed everyone) magenta streets story mission, the one where you fight white tigers for the first time, on hard + challenging.
bandicam-2022-01-30-16-58-11-831.png

When it comes to killing Sion did the heavy lifting with his godlike AOE spam. Of course he wouldn't be able to do that without support of tanks and healers.
bandicam-2022-01-30-16-58-21-144.png

Taking out Kevin ASAP is very important, you can not allow that guy to do anything if you want to live. He has something like 100% chance to hit and tracer bullet individual mastery, which makes the character he shoots at 30% more likely to get hit, combined with large amount of enemies around and general stupidity of crit damage, leads to characters getting exploded before they can even act. Not to mention that Kevin himself deals enough damage to basically oneshot characters even without crits if they don't block his attacks. So stun him, freeze him, send him into AT hell, kill him, do not let him get a turn.

As I've said earlier, I find that melee guys are generally much scarier than gunners, because once they see your squishes they beeline straight after them and there's nothing you can do about it, aside from trying to keep your squishes far enough away. When it comes to ranged enemies it's generally enough for you to stand behind cover and may be add some smoke grenades on top.

I was surprised to see that there are only about 50 enemies in this mission, but because they attack you all at once it feels like you fight at least a hundred of them. In comprasion, the first violent case you unlock - magenta back-streets has 90+ enemies in it, but you don't choke on them, because they are more evenly spread out.

No special scene in the end for beating everyone though, not even an achievment in steam, bleh. And those impulse fields and second hearts start to annoy the fuck out of me.
