btw it is a significant mercy that Heixing has a skin with a shirt. Thank you, Korea

Probably after Heixing and Ray. Maybe even after Giselle whom I have not seen once so far. Only got up to Heixing as team mates so far.

In the (free) DLC :p

Also after Leton and Kylie :p

BTW. Kylie is the 2nd character (after Anne) with an "enter, Awaken and Clear screen" Overcharge. With Consecutive Attack to kill everyone twice.

You may think the prime directive of Troubleshooters is to fight crime, but you'd be wrong. Their actual goal is much more noble and enlightened:

I know it's from the DLC, just wondering when that happens. I'm in chapter four now. I like this game a lot but I have a number of gripes with it, one of them being it doling out companions waaaaaaay too slow. 58 hours in and I don't even have a full team. I really don't mind the game being long as fuck, but seeing as everyone have to be leveled up and stuff anyway, I don't see why we can't get companions a bit faster.

OK I am genuinely curious about the original meaning of Joshua's intro line: "ONLY I EXIST IN THIS UNIVERSE!"
I don't know the original Korean but in Japanese it's translated to 天上天下唯我独尊 which is something the Buddha supposedly said when he was born. Literal translation: "In the heavens and below, I alone am honored"

I just finished this mission. I thought I was smart and start at the other end of the map to search for the goods but it was in one of the warehouses at the beginning. C'est la vie...

I was about to do the same but then accidentally AI'd my Striker who promptly ran into the first warehouse and revealed the robot

Man I love Irene's flame explosion. Not sure if I should go Martial Artist or Battle Mage though. I prefer MA due to one more ability. Weirdly you have one ability less as a battle mage, same for Sion. Though focusing on fire damge seems more of a battle mage thing.

OK finally back on track with Irene. My battle mage results were meh at the level I'm at, but this build competes with Albus (and I'm pretty sure it will exceed him by far once I get some of the higher level masteries). Yeah yeah I know my mastery sets aren't very good, but I enjoy the process of figuring them out myself rather than googling them or brute forcing them :D. I love the way the game helps you if you're only missing one btw. There are so many little details like that in the game like that really hint at what a labour of love it is:

A long time ago, the game only hinted you with a question mark. The majority of the players just looked to the guide. But there was some player on steam forums who refused to look up. He figured out all masteries by himself. Using his experience he gave advice to devs on how to improve hints. Devs listen to this guy, and now the game gives more detailed hints: can you craft missing masteries or not; do you have it or not; which type of mastery is missing; the game shows you the description of the mastery set, so you can guess which one is missing. A lot of small details like this were not in the game from the very beginning. They were born as a result of the communication between players and developers.

Nice. Also nice that they don't remove training manuals like it seems 99% of players want them to. They are so plentiful they don't really matter except for one thing; the make it so there's at least a theoretical barrier from just brute forcing the mastery sets if you're autistic enough.

Btw people, out of curiosity: when you got more than 6 characters, who was the first you left on the bench and why?

At first I dropped Ray because I didn't really understand the potential of her abilities and masteries. Then, after a while, I experimented a bit with her and I saw the enormity of my mistake. Unstable Chemical Compound is insane and can turn all her attacks in giant AoE nuclear bombs.

You are limited to 8 characters per mission. You will need to drop someone once you get to the very end of chapter 5. Story missions in chapter 6 are designed in such a way that you don't need to drop anyone. You will need to make a decision for side missions and violent cases. Chapter 7 (DLC) allows using 12 characters. Since there are 11 characters in the game, this created some drama about who will be the 12th member.

Wait, you can take 8 per mission? Lol, that's sounds a bit much :D

EDIT: And we don't get Alisa before chapter 7? Boooooo

lol, I was the same, I benched Ray for ages because I'd been so unimpressed with her in the intro - and than at one point about halfway through the game I started experimenting with her and realized she's literally the bomb :)

It's nice because all the companions stand out in some way and each of them can be built as absolute stonkers in either specialism. Even Irene Battlemage or the "magic" build for Albus can work (although Grunker's right that you do need some of the more advanced masteries to make Irene work well that way, whereas she's pretty solid as a martial artist all the way through, even if the Hero stuff loses its edge towards the end of the game).

Hero stuff loses its edge towards the end of the game
I always wondered if that was by design, not giving her stronger masteries during the endgame. Her lone wolf act works very well early on, when the entire company isn't that familiar with each other yet, but sooner or later even Irene has to accept that they're stronger together, and that's when her solo-act in the gameplay also tends to get weaker as time goes on. Or maybe I just built her the wrong way to keep her valuable as the lone-wolf flanking expert.

Is Make Chemical Concoction worth it? 10 vigor drain a turn for up to 180% damage buff seems awesome, right, but how annoying is the explosion?

Yeah the synergy bonus stuff is also not working with the lonely hero act as well and they provide some nice boni as well.

No, I think you're right, it's part of the story, which is neat.

Wow another mission just pissing me off. It is that mission where you can chose your starting character and just for fun went with Sion. It is in that snow covered park and those two delivery punks. For some reason you start the mission directly next to a melee guy with forestalment with no chance of properly positioning yourself. Who does shit like that?

Edit: Uh needed 3 tries and hoping for a bit of luck on dodges but seriously why bother letting you pick a character when the mission is clearly designed for a melee guy like Albus. I shudder to think how this had played out on Annie as White Mage. Hell Witch sucks because her accuracy is plain awful.

/facepalm
