Canceling the bond reduces the friendship level though so I would have to wait. Though considering how badly this can backfire might still be a good idea.

Edit: Just opted for tough spirit. That should help for now.

If you play the balance option in police training, you get 'Persuasion'. Transfer attack slot to basic.

If you play Anne route in 'scent of the past', you get 'waiting'. But I think you need to ignore dorori at first. You will be just fine without this mastery.

The wikis are hopefully outdated then, lol

I already got waiting. I played it a second time now with Anne and this time I went directly aggressive with her and got Colorful Sac mastery.

One thing I consider using Challenge mode for is beefing up low level missions to my level. Though wonder how bad it is with those random masteries for enemies.

It is not bad at all. In fact it's pretty genious as level scaling. Since these opponents inherently have weaknesses compared to later enemies, giving them more masteries makes them harder but still *noticably* less hard than missions that are actually designed for your level. It's more or less the perfect implementation of the concept, to be honest.

Does anyone know if the Informant mastery bonus stacks if you have it on several characters? Say 4 characters having it and you increase your chances by 200%, 250% with company mastery?

Sykar you could always play through those scenarios on Easy just to unlock the materia masteries. It's nok like you need the Cruel/Challenge-mode rewards from those story missions and it's not like it's that exciting replaying the same mission 8 times :)
Its a very different mission with every character. Just the same map.
And they are all character development missions where you get to see a bit of their past.
Its just plain great.

i know you like this game Lhynn but Scent of the Past is literally the exact same mission with not a single change just with a different prologue

Do you ever get access to more different costumes for the characters? Perhaps additional costumes were planned as separate DLCs? I mean, those 3 costumes you get upon obtaining a character mostly differ in texture and colour scheme. Kinda lame.

Perhaps it would be preferable if alternative costumes followed the general style of the character. Still, the available costumes do look samey to me, I wish the developers expanded this little feature and made it more systemic by allowing the player to unlock new costumes by completing specific objectives in the game, or maybe made them obtainable as random loot or from killing bosses.

How long is this game? Is the story finished? Currently I'm approaching 80 hours of play time, all of my characters being around 35 lvl, and considering that I've seen characters reach as high as 50 lvl, I expect to be playing it for another 30-40 hours till completion of the main story, if I continue to proceed at my current pace anyway. Which is not exactly short already, and I read that this was supposed to be just the first part of the whole story, the first season, or however they word it. Is that true? Not that I've got bored with the game after my ~80 hours, but imagine if there were, say, another two story sections within the same game, then it could easily take ~200 hours for a single playthrough. By the way, have the developers ever disclosed their plans for sequels?

Geting Cover and Pincer Movement on everyone, then setting Heixing up as Ranger and Giselle as Sniper is some lulzy shit. Anytime you don't kill someone fifteen reaction shots happen. Impulse Fields be damned :D

Anyone have a comparable game to play next? Outside of JA2, SS, Tactics Ogre, FFT. Valkyria Chronicles? What else is there?

Play Blackguards or Dungeon of Naheulbeuk. Check my sig for a review of the latter. Click this for a review of the former by felipepepe and Darth Roxor.

Cover and pincer movement are great, but can bite you in the ass later. You can't turn them off other than canceling the bond, which can make taming beasts harder, but more importantly can make you ragequit when you encounter some powerful enemies that can ranged counterattack later. It's all fun and games until you have to watch your whole squad reaction shooting and getting oneshot in return one by one, and there is nothing you can do about it :smug:
