Not really in the mood for reading 171.5 pages of mostly shitposts. Can anyone summarize why Thiaf is massive decline? I thought the game was out already hence the verdict but apparently it's anyone's guess at this point.
Here, have a taste of a part of the decline.

The gameplay before what is clearly just a "cinematic" ending to level is different and some technical parts they are talking about are impressive, like glass objects when shattered add more noise when you walk on them, closed doors reduce noise and birds actually flap wings and can give you away if you pass near them. Even weather, like rain, reduces the chance of player being heard. It will be good if the game would actually make you use these little details to play effectively.
Also, resources (like that Focus and health, of course) do not regenerate, which is nice.
What I didn't like are the sweeping move, which they use to pass when almost being looked at by NPC and ability to climb bookcases and the like, which seems OP as noone searches for you there. Magical leaning is in too, as well as free takedowns and powerful stun arrows.
NPC's in video seem too stupid also, as guy backs off safely once when clearly being spotted to just shoot NPC with stun arrow and then blackjack him.
The exploration also seems to rely too much on context actions and various pre-determined events like secrets, sliding doors and that one particular window you are actually allowed to climb, unlike all the other windows building has.

That's not true on the Thief part. TDP's graphics were considered pretty good back in 98. TMA on the other hand was criticized for showing no major improvements over it.

Hmm...that's not how I recall it, playing the games on an old 14 inch monitor. Thief 1 had functionable graphics in general and poor character models, while Thief 2 improved the character models and was in a higher resolution making things look much sharper and cleaner.

Wouldn't that just flood the streets with broken IF SEE STREET LAMP, DO MARK_TERRITORY script that was added for immersionfags?

It's probably a good representation of how the new Mirror's Edge game they're working on now is going to be, though :(

Why's that? I haven't been following ME2 news, pretty odd because I'm a huge fan of the original.
I also really liked the original, but it didn't sell so well, and this is an EA game we're talking about. They'll want to sell more to a bigger market, which means they'll do as they always do and streamline away all the substance, leaving only flash. I'd love to be wrong, but I won't let myself look forward to the game until I see some gameplay.
