I suppose it makes sense that the Eidos Refugee Thread would get its fair share of transplanted drama. That's what happened in the Codex Refugee Thread on the Watch as well. Ah, that conversation between "Fretrider" and "bryce"...

The thing is I didn't bring it here. One of the main people who would press that button over there was the one who mentioned it here. I'm simply shedding a bit of insight on the situation and correcting those who need correction.

And you want to know the truth? Deep down many people here know I'm right and WANT to call things like I do but they can't because preconditions and bias prohibit them from doing so.

Hi, HERESY. Welcome to the Codex! You're gonna love it here.

People here love transmedia. Specially mobile versions of PC games! Ask anyone really, we're all mobile game lovers and we totally believe that a game experience can be supported by comics, books, action figures, movies and animes of that franchise. Just like you! Oh and we're mostly console gamers - i rarely see someone praising a PC game here (totally dying market)... Also, unlike that terrible terrible Eidos forums where people judge games by their quality and execution, here in the Codex we measure a game by how much it sold. It doesnt matter if the story or the gameplay sucks, if it sold, its gold! And hey, dont forget to remind everyone that you never managed to beat the first Deus Ex. I bet people here will agree with you that the first one was just an old relic anyways, right guys? Heheheh.

And hey, no hard feelings for getting you banned on the Eidos forums, right? I mean, the rules are the rules man. You stepped over the line sometimes, i pressed the report button sometimes. Oops!

Now tell us. You were exchanging personal messages with Spyhopping? What did you say that made her ban you? I'm legitimately curious. Did you ask for nudes or something? If you did tell us before zwanzig_zwoelf does something similar.

Okay bro, thanks for pointing out my mistake! I hope you keep callin' em as you see 'em, we definitely need some more anti-establishment posters with high moral standards here on the Codex.

You should really check out Site Feedback, it's the section that would benefit most from the presence of one such as yourself!

if it weren't for PC players the franchise would still be alive and kicking today. Don't go rambling on about mods, that is not what I'm talking about but is a topic for another day.
Yeah, it's not the PC players who made The Dark Mod, which is a better Thief seque thanl Thiaf ever gonna be. It's not like they made tons of great Thief 2 missions, and kept the series alive.

This is false. There are plenty of games that are older than four years that are not relics. Mass Effect, Gears, Uncharted, GTA4, MGS4, Bioshock, etc. However, relics can be defined as games that people still cling to even though the value as a franchise is minimal or non-existent. As another user pointed out, Thief would be such a franchise and so is ED.

please, get out of here.

To be fair the graphics have not aged well. Early 2000 3D games have really, really bad graphics...

Now I'm wondering: If Squeenix had spent the money they spent on marketing on actually making the game worth playing, we might have a game worth talking about.

Instead we get a 10% pre-order discount, Steam Trading Cards announced well in advance, and this thing for TF2:

Hmmm, Square-enix/eidos montreal will sue bethesda for ripping off thief...

Fo' sho'. Shitty story and characters were def. taken from Thief.

:troll:

Well, maybe bethesda will sue SE also, because... isn't bethesda the one which sued a company for the use of the word scrolls? Anyway, the point is these companies nowadays are sueing each other with no real reasons...

Well, I don't think deus ex graphics aged badly in any way... And if one thinks textures are to blurred. You can aways install new vision, a hi-res texture pack. I never had any problems with the models, and I think the original models are great - yes, theres about 2 poligonal models for humans: male and female - but every character looked different. I believe a higher resolution texture over the old models would look better than the new models from HDTP.

But even without these improvements, I thing Deus Ex looks great. Mostly because Unreal engine could render beautiful colorful enviroments and with great lightning that reminds me of the dark engine, and like the dark engine. Anyway, the game is aesthetically pleasing.

I do think graphically Deus Ex has aged more poorly than a lot of other games from the same era. I think it looks worse than Thief as an example. The animations were also pretty bad.

Not that it matters at all for the enjoyment of the game.
