One of the joys of Thief was to slowly discover what the city was and the sense of mystery was wonderful. This desire to show everything as fast as possible to the point of using easy to fit stereotype like the oppressive Baron that is for CAPITALISM! is ridiculous. Give me a break, most games I played on the last few years pratically scream their plot in the first 30 min and all the rest is just following the obvious dots until reaching the predictable end. This trailer just told all the story of Thie4f in 6 min. What a piece of crap, we gone from misterious and excentric dude with wine that strange plants grow from to boring opression of the classes bullshit?

Looking at this trailer...

Why would you do that to yourself?

I didn't see it was 6 minutes long... and then there's that feeling of facing things that you know it'll be bad for you... like looking down from the last floor in a tall building.

I find the analogy of biting into a piece of high quality chocolate only for it to actually be a pile of horse shit to be a more fitting analogy.

So is that three playstyles-split (ghost-predator-whatever) is a thing now? I've seen it in last Splinter Cell where it poorly masquerades the excuse to just kill everything with magical pistol combos, as well as in Batman game. Now it's in Thief too.

But of course. You shouldn't be forced to play as a thief if you don't want to.

Eidos seems to have issues with games that have discriptive names. First Tomb Raider lacks tombs to raid. Then Hitman spent most of his time running away and hiding. And now you don't have to play as a Thief in a game called Thief.

This is not a Thief, this is DX:HR Medieval Edition, with some dumbing down on top ( contextual animations for every action, no jumping, etc. ).

But DXHR had revolutions!

Your ignore list.
As long as I can treat feminists properly in the game, it should be good.

New trailer:

"you lost your protege ..." yea i knew that, lame way of emoshunal engagement "and your memory..." WHAT!? They're gonna throw in an amnesia story too?!:x

"Multiple ways to solve your objectives..." and then they use flash special vision to show them all.:nocountryforshitposters:

I don't know what to think of it. I'm almost certain that the level design will be lacking, just as the AI, and I already hate that they limit my movement in the game. Yet, it seems that you can really ghost in the game, you have a lot of gadgets to use, so at least it have some Thief good ness in it. Maybe in the hardest difficulty setting, it will be tolerable.
The irony is that I can see hints that it could be an OK stealth game if they ditch the thief franchise and renamed the game. Looks like they're trying too hard to undo all the bad decisions they made in this game so it kinda looks the old thiefs, but they did that too late, about a few months before release. One example is that although there's 3rd person takedowns, looks like it can be deactivated, like many of the stupid camera angles. There are some scenes in this trailer that sadly really looks like thief, but then again, when you see "explosions" or big columns falling and destroying the enviroment in a cinematic way, it's disgusting and makes you want to vomit.
Pretty much this. The game will be an average Dishonored clone at the very best.

Your analogy is kind of correct, but to be more precise, you KNOW it's horse shit before you even bite, but since it has a resemblance to chocolate you feel the need to test it. In fact, watching the trailer is just smelling the "chocolate". The bite is when you actually play.

"you lost your protege ..." yea i knew that, lame way of emoshunal engagement "and your memory..." WHAT!? They're gonna throw in an amnesia story too?!

This is also a way of gathering old fans with new players: I bet they will never actually deny in game that the old games never happened, so you can almost see it as retconning of thief 1-3, with the amnesia thing being a way of not reminding the old ones, and the protegé being an idea taken from the last scene of thief deadly shadows.

Also, i hate the books and objects having the gears, hammers and keys just to look like the old factions in thief, but the game don't even have such factions, which makes it silly to have their symbols everytime as an easter egg.

Seriously. Not once in the entire trailer did I see a spot of darkness.

Maybe Garret's eyes have built-in brighteners now? They can already see Web 2.0 pop-ups, it's not a big stretch.
