Thanks for spoiling the shit story. Now i dont even need to play the game anymore. This guy is a good story-teller though, i love his voice. Shame he's working on the wrong project.

Oh great, epic emotionally engaging story (c) and wubwub soundtrack. First time a game makes me actually feel bile rising to the back of my throat

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. I helped put crap in Monomyth
Scrolled through with the sound turned off. Impressions:
  • that fisheye effect is incredibly annoying;
  • the kewlsum takedowns are laughable.
I'm sure the story will be deep and emotional and all that.

I hope this doesn't become a trend cause nobody would remain untouched if Gaider or Hepler were doing this shit.

Listen to the music in that trailer! So exciting, huge improvement from the boring old soundtrack. Atmosphere? A worthy reboot? Who needs such superfluities when you've got Totally Not Batman booming in your ears whilst you sob over Garrett's heart wrenching story arch :(?

To be fair, if I ever made the mistake of playing the game I'd probably end up chronically depressed. Well done devs, you broke my heart with your |.~/\/DEEP \/\~.| story! I too am haunted by loss. I leave you with this:

Many of you that are complaining will buy this and end up saying, "Meh, it's not that bad." See Human Revolution for details.

There you go.

On one hand, Thiaf has the "it's going to be so bad" expectation going for it, since it will probably not be as bad as we're expecting. On the other, I think Thief will take AAA dumbing down much less graciously than Deus Ex ended up doing. Just look at the "second best stealth game" thread, the prevailing opinion is that everything below Thief is shit and not worth considering.

Deus Ex was always a game where the specific mechanics were less important than the way they fit together cohesively into a wider whole. Thief is a much more straightforward experience where the individual mechanics must be learned and mastered to fully enjoy the game. Therefore Deus Ex was harmed far less by the introduction of things like sticky cover and radar.

Human Revolution was actually good, unless you have zero capacity to like a modern game at all.

This looks like shit at this point.

And they kind of respected the canon, if that counts for something. Set in the same universe, and although I like it that way, I believ being a prequel kind of limited the story. With thiaf, everything is so "has nothing to do" with the originals, except names.

All I'm gonna say about that game is that Simons and the Denton brothers didn't need augmentations to tell them what they could pick up and climb on.

Rebooting franchise by keeping recognizable names and creating brand new contents (Thief) vs Making sequel that loses the spirit of original with rehashed contents (Fallout3).

Uh, everything you could interact with had a huge white highlight box in Deus Ex. Also: you can turn that stuff off in Human Revolution.

I can see it now.

IGN - 9.3

IGN will rate any shit a 9, I think other sites reviews will depend on how many turkeys that get released at the same time, if any scandalous behaviour is reported in games jurnalizm that makes them feel that the blue moon has come round where they need to appear objective and give an honest (read: this game is not the citizen kane of gaming) review.

Of course RPS can always go for the low score and cite garret being straight white male in videogames perpetuating patriarchy as why, Kotaku can give it a bad score because the dynamic between garret and erin is all rapey and bad and you should feel bad and click some more of our clickbait articles because we like money, campster can prattle on about ludo-narrative dissonance with the exp from killing vs the garret only kills when its necessary (no a review), TotalBiscuit can masturbate about it not being a modewn miwitawy shooteh with its winear missions and contwows but instead its a grimdark thief with linear missions and controls. I doubt it will get the thorough spanking it deserves until at least 6 months after its release when its designated the shitty game but the upcoming DLC will fix fans concerns (which they wont) and the only topics up for discussion is the shitty problems that are remedied in the DLC.

Jim Sterling will call the game out on its bullshit and will receive death threats from the fanboys, which he will snark about on the Jimquisition. Then people will send him more gay furry porn.

While I respect him for calling things as he sees them with no bullshit, he isn't always of the Codex mind of thinking. I remember him mocking mouse aim for FPSes, for example, and I know he hates stealth games.

It seems I'm not the only one who watched the last Jimquisition. ;)

I like his Jimquisition show, because he talks about good stuff and as you said, calls out a lot of bullshit, but I don't read his reviews, because I think he has too much popamole in him.
