I prefer the art in the SNES versions over the PSX onesBy the way. people playing Wiz 1-3,5 should play PS1 versions. Nice art and QoL features while being the same games.

SNES is great also, agree is even better aesthetically. But Wiz1 dungeon optional floors are different. I like it a lot, with the patch translation of course.I prefer the art in the SNES versions over the PSX onesBy the way. people playing Wiz 1-3,5 should play PS1 versions. People are too afraid of IV to even mention it.By the way. people playing Wiz 1-3,5 should play PS1 versions. Nice art and QoL features while being the same games.
Why not 4?
4 is sufficiently different form 1-3, 5 that it doesn't quite scratch the same itch. Also a bit sadistic as far as game design goesPeople are too afraid of IV to even mention it.By the way. people playing Wiz 1-3,5 should play PS1 versions. Nice art and QoL features while being the same games.

Was just wondering was there a reason not to play 4 on PSX, since I actually went on and set up 1-5 on PSX, for when the day finally comes.
It's OK.But the normal version of 4 should be ok, not that I ever tried it.
If I remember correctly the no translated Wiz4 arranged version had the ability to manually control monsters, isn't it? It´s a shame because that looks fun and the game seems hard enough. Was just wondering was there a reason not to play 4 on PSX, since I actually went on and set up 1-5 on PSX, for when the day finally comes.
As far as I know, not really. The thing is that PSX New Age of Llylgamyn comes with not only 4 and 5 but an expanded version of 4. But as the expanded version of 4 was only produced for Japan changing the language to English won't help with that. But the normal version of 4 should be ok, not that I ever tried it.

The thing with classic Wizardry is that the dungeon is the focus. Your characters matter but not so much. With all the floors until the party wipe mapped and shortcuts unlocked, the rescue expedition is not so bad aside from potential encounter with the boss that killed them.
More like run out of disc space, remember the time that came outAlso ultimately I was rather disappointed that only floors 1-4 had non-combat stuff like looking for keys, getting the blue ribbon, etc. Felt to me like they ran out of ideas for the rest or something.
I didn't like Wiz 2 and 3, and I'm sure you already know of Wiz 4 from reputation, but Wiz 5 comes highly recommended from me. It's better than Wiz 1 in every way and is just a pretty good RPG.Interesting little game, but I don't think I'll be going forward with Wiz 2-5, especially after recalling @LarryTyphoid's recent woes.

your maps look as crooked as aweighs, don't you have proper graph paper?I didn't like Wiz 2 and 3, and I'm sure you already know of Wiz 4 from reputation, but Wiz 5 comes highly recommended from me. just when I think I'm out, they drag me back in
I have a question regarding Wiz5 however. I saw that its maps are more like 6-7 than 1-4, in that they are no longer on 20x20 squares. Therefore, how much do they need to be mapped strictly on graph paper? Because counting squares is a little annoying, and since these maps are not 'regular' I'd be upset if I estimated page space wrong (yeah I do that shit by hand). Meanwhile I managed to get through e.g. Wiz 6-7 and EotB1 by mapping shit with just general outlines.
This for example is one of my old-ass Wiz7 maps.
to answer your question for w5, your maps will sprawl over the edge of your paper since every level is sort of different. They are not as sprawling as W6 or W7, but still large enough that you can't get it to fit properly on one paper agenigga i wrote it right there that i couldn't be bothered counting squares
besides, I found that those games I mentioned didn't even need super-detailed mapping. In Wiz7 I eventually stopped mapping by hand altogether because I could just remember the maps, and if I needed a refresher there was the in-game cartography.
Wiz5, like Wiz1, has Dumapic as your only navigational spell and it works the same way. You might be able to get through the same way you did Wiz6, but it's not ideal. I suggest you just use Gridmonger or Grid Cartographer to make a map rather than graph paper. That, or play the SNES version, which changes Dumapic so that it gives you a minimap temporarily.I have a question regarding Wiz5 however.
