I will never understand why Final Fantasy Tactics (and to a lesser extent Symphony of the Night) has never been remastered and ported to PC. Instead we get countless clones that look like the AliExpress version.

Apparently Squenix is working on it and saving the remake/remaster as a 'break glass in case of emergency' kinda thing.

Ya'll lucky my life be in the dumps with shit comps & no real wifi. I'd fill ya'll with CGI, EGI, Appleii, atari800, ZXspectrum, vic20, trsh-80 goodness to show whatcha missin.' You'd be fapping & slapping just to see the pique power that is old old school. You'd want to VR PLATO games and more.

Anyway, the game just mentioned before hmmmmm....

I like metroidvanias and I'd probably try this one eventually, but am I the only one who thinks a lot of games look like paper or shadow puppetry?

Its not really a metroidvania, more of a 2D side scrolling JRPG. Solo dev, took the dude around 16 years to finish the game IIRC. He is a great dude too, I talked with him on twitter a few times about this one and other games he used as inspiration. Unfortunately he got burned out and said he is now retired but both the game and the DLC are fantastic, well worth buying even at full price.

80 dollar gaming is upon us. Edit: ah they fixed it, it's 30 dollars extra for the season pass and playing it a few days early.

With how they went out of their way to fuck up Tactics Ogre (replacing major mechanics with new, worse, ones), I don't think this is a bad thing.

As for Symphony of the Night, I expect it will be put in some bundle within the next two years like the three collections they have. Probably classic Rondo of Blood, PSP's 3D Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night and maybe Harmony of Despair. They're spacing out the releases to avoid devaluing interest, and I suspect they have a tech bottleneck (they aren't just emulated. The DS collection even has debug symbols left in so people are reverse engineering it)

Sorta "out" as it has been released into early Access. As a big fan of Arcen games I'm going to keep an eye on it, but the core issues from the demo still remain.
The concept is really nice, so if you like that sort of thing, it might be worth waiting for the proper release.

Didn't try the demo yet, what kind of issues does it have?
I think I posted some demo impressions way back, but this review (not mine) describes most of them.
Basically it's really obtuse and railroady to a point that you will only play until Chapter 2 (that is more freeform) if you can put in the effort and hours to go through the long linear and scripted tutorial.
Granted, none of those issues would compel me to write a negative review, but they did convince me to give this game a little more time in the oven and see where they want to go to with the design and what they're adding during the EA.

But the premise is just so unique, that you might want to give it a try now. It would be a shame if such attempts at innovations in the genre would flop and cease to exist.
