They are both good but 3 is a bit more serious while some parts of 4 get a bit more whacky or comedic.

The series pretty much gets sillier the later it is (not unlike Yakuza).

The first is very serious and gritty game

So which of these is better?

4 also only progresses when doing certain events, so you're free to roam about the world and sort of pick and choose what to do. Whereas 3 and previous entries progress by area changes (someone correct me if I'm wrong). 4 would be easier for a first time player but 3 (and 1) has a much better story. All of them are great in some way though (I barely remember 2).

Four has better systems and way more combat moves, but I think it doesn't run on win 11, without rigging some stuff up.

He's not kidding, both games have a generally serious tone, but some of the side content is there only for laughs, and some of the customization options are there because someone at the development is an asshole with the sense of humour of a ten year old.

The sequel was terribly bad and the camgirl spinoff was basically a clicker game, but the original one was pretty fun if you like match 3 puzzle games. This and Hotline Miami were the first games to get banned on twitch too.
