I just realised ME1 even did a better job than this game at space faring RPG..
I cant think of any fanbase that is more delusional then Bethesda fanboys.

You have to take into account that most Beth fans use their games as modding platforms rather than play them as traditional games. Applies even more so here since you posted Steam reviews.

No doubt, but it's polishing a turd and there is only so much polish can fix. It's also why Bethesda focus on house/ship building and other retarded stuff instead of making a good game.

Oh and i forgot, the Neon is a place that i also enjoyed with its quest for the japanese corpo. It was at least some attempt at interesting place that is not just "space cowboy colony on some boring barren rock". Ship combat is fairly terrible, with its stupid maneuvering thrusters that you then constantly use and booster to escape rockets. Then, good ships are gated behind perks, which is a baffling decision even if you have money to buy them. Space combat is mostly worthless as the junk you salvage is not worth much. I feel like the game was designed by comitee, where everyone just thrown cool idea and then they mashed this frankenstein of base building, resource gathering, space combat, loading screen simulator.

Never even dabbled with resource gathering, building some useless shit
the entire game is outpost building, and that element works pretty well. they just put in a bullshit plot and characters for marketing.

i'm reinstalling on PC for Shattered Space, which mods should I get? I mostly did the whole game vanilla except for UI and music replacers

Do NOT play Shattered Space with Starvival on. That mod increases environmental damage to the point that resting on Va'ruun'Kai will cause you to die in your sleep during the autosave and brick your character.

You can either have good factorio like game, or good RPG, not both. For people uninterested in building anything or gathering ore/resources, the game is actually very short. 20h for main quest and some side quests is not much. Exploration is not satisfying so i can't understand why would anyone just jump onto random planets and see and do the same stuff. Locations are also very uninspiring, samey, same outposts from prefabs.

I'm currently running this modlist and am pretty happy. Once you add in more POIs and random space encounters and outpost fabs, the game goes to at least an 8.5/10. High-level combat feels like Destiny without cooldowns, and the dogfighting is acceptable. Still, the vanilla game's music is dogshit, and even the Starfield Radio mods are bad. It's definitely getting there, though. Shattered Space feels like Morrowind. Great art direction and even creative clothing, which is weird because I don't see a way to buy Varuun outfits anywhere.

Actually, after playing with the Star Wars ayys mod, the difference compared to vanilla is night and day. I am 100% convinced that all the inexplicable Space Aborigines were originally Aslans, Vargr, Bwaps, etc. The game looks bizarre because the crowd procgen was intended to have ayys in it to balance out the uggos. Is there evidence in the code of cut xenos? There has to be somewhere. Why would they have a huge list of character traits at character creation but not Blue People? Half the races in Star Trek are literally just dudes with different-colored skin or pointy ears. That's not exactly cost-prohibitive

Why did Shattered Space suck? The underwhelming story? The negroes and stronk females everywhere? The bland world design? The eyebleeding colour scheme? Boredom? Shitty new weapons/armor? Nope, none of those. It was the timing of the free update that added "buggies"

After Starfield: Shattered Space's mixed reviews, Todd Howard wondered if Bethesda should "have waited to put buggies out"

https://www.gamesradar.com/games/rp...thesda-should-have-waited-to-put-buggies-out/
As Microsoft Gaming lead Phil Spencer reveals in an interview with Game File, Howard was worried the rover's earlier debut as part of a free update was a bad decision on his part. "Todd and I were talking about Shattered Space," states Spencer. "Starfield is a game I put a ton of hours into and really love, but they've had this thing where they've added features throughout the year and then they had an expansion."

I guess it's easier for them to make all these excuses and cop-outs than to settle things right to simply make better games. Mutual cover-up in motion as well.

Free vehicle plugin today. I'm fine with Starfield being exactly good enough for modders to use it as a platform for sci-fi content but not revolutionary. I'm curious how possible it would be for someone to make an Enderal or Tamriel Rebuilt-level mod for Starfield. It shouldn't be that much work to add new POIs, right? The main problem seems to be that mods that add vehicles to the ship mechanic NPC all break each other

The game would be fine if the developers understood that it's the sandbox nature that makes Bethesda games worth it, once you throw in mods you can make them into whatever you want. The issue with Starfield is that someone shit in the sandbox and mixed it into all the sand. Modders have to do more heavy lifting than usual to unfuck it and the modders just don't seem to care. Who could blame them.

[...] I can't imagine having enough enthusiasm to mod Starfield in its current state.
SF didn't even release lip-syncing in its CK, meaning modders can not create mods with lip-synced dialogue. Many resort to putting helmets on the heads of NPCs as a workaround. They had to patch that in. Keep in mind that manual lip-syncing has been in every single one of their games since Oblivion.
