SF didn't even release lip-syncing in its CK, meaning modders can not create mods with lip-synced dialogue. Many resort to putting helmets on the heads of NPCs as a workaround. They had to patch that in. Keep in mind that manual lip-syncing has been in every single one of their games since Oblivion.
The way you phrase it makes it sound like a negative. The actual fact is that the CK has lipsyncing now. That's great news, I don't know why you are complaining about it.

Starfield's engine is a different one from their old games. And it's the same engine they're going to use for Elder Scrolls 6. So we can assume for that game that the CK will have lipsyncing on launch, it just took them a while to make the new tech.

Lip-syncing is a basic feature that shouldn't have to be patched in by a multi-billion dollar company owned by Microsoft. This isn't the early 2000s where you have to find workarounds for basic stuff anymore. Have some standards dude.

What do you mean "patched in"? The CK came out 10 months after the game released. They are still working on both the CK and the game and making it better. Are you going to complain about every future patch that it should've been there from the start?

They are still working on both the CK and the game and making it better.
I think it's pretty clear that unless they overhaul the game from the ground up, its status won't exceed "mediocre/bad" - Let's say you're right and 10 years from now, the game is great. Good for them, but it was fucking awful at launch, and you shouldn't stick with a game on the off chance they manage to redeem their fuck-ups. Life's too short and there are too many great games out there. All they're doing now is putting different brands of lipstick on it. Find a better game to defend.

Are you going to complain about every future patch that it should've been there from the start?
No. Bugs/balance adjustments can be justified as oversights (depending on the severity) but adding basic features that have existed before, sounds more like incompetence. I would be more forgiving if it wasn't coming from a AAA studio.

Let's say you're right and 10 years from now, the game is great. Good for them, but it was fucking awful at launch, and you shouldn't stick with a game on the off chance they manage to redeem their fuck-ups.
Or you just do it like me and wait for the game to get all patches, DLCs and big mods and then you start playing again. But complaining about improvements done to the game is just silly.

I'm excited to see how fully modded Starfield will be like, I think it's going to blow previous Bethesda titles out of the water in terms of mods and all the things you can do in the game.

Starfield is huge not just in terms of scope but also systems. It's much more complex than FO4 or Skyrim. Things take time, just chill and relax and in a few years we'll have an amazing space RPG.

I didn't know buying a game at launch meant "Wait a decade for the game to be good."
We called those 'Early Access' games, not AAA titles sold for 70$.

The engine isn't different, the sooner people stop using this excuse the better. The engine has literally been NetImmerse since before Morrowind. There were still bugs for the longest time from Morrowind in Starfield. Stationary NPCs would move in small increments resulting in the Neon Shipmaster falling into the water permanently. It's the equivilent of adding a gun to a ship and claiming it's not the same ship anymore. If you have facts to the contrary, please share them :^)

It's been NetImmerse since before Morrowind. Just because you change your name and add a incremental number to the end doesn't make it different. Once they release a game without bugs or engine tricks from 22 years ago I'll consider your argument.

Well at least it have bullet time unlike Fallout 4, shame that the AI is so completely static, anemic, with turn rate of a 80 year old lady. Compare that to FEAR, Stalker games, is this because of console audience? We know that ai cant be too good.

I'm running https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/1392 and the combat in Shattered Space is very good. I have seen the Vortex Horrors and Zealots take cover, teleport behind me, snipe from atop a mountain, etc. I think everyone is just playing Starfield on really low difficulty and bouncing off because there's no challenge
