Decided to play a couple of placement matches today, because why the hell not. I've forgot, or made myself forget, what a special place YOLOQ is. First game I pick Vladimir top, because.clearly the best choice is a champ I haven't played in months. Of course, what our team needs then is jungle Rengar and Midalee. Game goes about expected, win lane lose game. I seriously need to get better at pushing the advantage when I'm crushing my opponent. Vlad isn't the best at roaming and isn't great at taking towers either. Bad choice. Doubt we could have won that game due to team comps and idiot ratio, but could have done better myself.

Second game, I'm first pick. Bad sign. Last guy says he wants to play Kha top. Bad sign too. Here I commit the ultimate mistake and pick Kha'Zix for him. Never, ever do that unless with premades. I end up "having" to jungle WW while he went top with KZ against Renekton. Total shitstain abortion of a game. Our Jinx would just show up in lane and die more or less, though their Tristana was really good.

Third game, I duo with said Trist after chatting with him in the post game lobby. Turns out he was a smurf. Main account Platinum I and ranked like 8th "best" on Sivir on EUNE last season. We go Sivir/Leona vs. Jinx/Thresh. Push the lane to get lvl 2 first, go all in on Jinx, ignite. Get first blood. Keep snowballing the lane. GG easy. Lesson learned. Find someone vastly better than you and let him carry you.

That's a funny story about the smurf.

Vladimir to me is always one of those secret OP champions but in higher elos I feel like he's really disliked because his laning phase is really rough. But in low elos, people must go wtf infinitesustain OP and just lose to him. You can splitpush really well with him and he tends to deny the other guy really hard, sort of like a Yorick that scales harder. Abuse your lane and then join in teamfights. He's probably not that bad of a roamer either because he has good wave clear and his ult is good burst under tower while troll pool cancels turret aggro(?).

Thats why I duo ranked with Mystary. So he can carry me
:troll:

Truth be told, games with him are way more intense cause hes way above my elo and people we play with and against dont make dumb mistakes often that give easy kills.I pretty much have to tryhard like retard to win. Im always last pick but I dont mind wrecking with Blitz.
"blitz y u take all the kills" is a classic quote i get in pretty much every second game lol

The smurf was a really nice guy, even if he was a :jew: from Israel. After that game he added me on his main account and we played a derpy blind pick game where he played Rengar support. That didn't go well. Didn't do great with Robot Unicorn Attack in the woods either, but it was fun to play that champ again.

Renegen: I agree, Vladimir can be a beast. Especially in teamfights. We never had any proper ones though, just people getting caught or engaging at strange times again and again. Will try uvladbro again, as long as the team fits his strengths and weaknesses.

Markman: Hard to say, very irregular play times. I mostly play around lunch to early afternoon these days. Not the best time to play with bros unfortunately.

So, support Kennen was fairly fun, though I guess picking him against Annie who does the same thing but more reliable wasn't the best choice. What are other good off-beat supports? Pantheon is fun as a lane bully, but without gold he'll fall off very hard.

Darius support, all you do wait is to take the gold that is rightfully yours.

So apparently my MMR got reset from last season or something because the system just promoted me from G5 to G3 and I'm gaining LP like crazy. All I'm doing is mashing buttons as Zac, actually my last hitting with him completely sucks since his AA animation is so weird and the W does like no damage to minions. Still crushed Lee Sin in lane and after that a Renekton. I really enjoyed their attempts at bullying me, this Lee died like level 4 under his tower because he tanked 6 minions while I was slapping him with snot. I guess I can't blame him, probably was the first time LEE MUST ALWAYS ALL IN didn't work out, stupid character.

I was thinking Jinx Rengar might be a fun duo lane against squishy support. Rengar doesn't offer much but some bush control, a slow, and scary all in at level 2, but if you can make them back they lose all the towers.

Off-beat "good" supports: Brand Gragas Elise LeBlanc Veigar Nocturne. I wouldn't want to take em against Annie/Thresh/Leona, but I wouldn't want to take anything against them atm :P

I'm beginning to see more and more unconventional supports, I think it's starting to be the norm and people are experimenting. I was probably most surprised with seeing 2 GP supports in my games, they didn't quite go as tanky as me and maxed Q but it was nice to see. Saw a Galio too who lost lane despite an early double kill. And a Zilean who despite my opinion that he's quite terrible as a support showed the power of 40% CDR Zilean by literally perma slowing me by 55%. You do not ever run away from a Zilean support, only him running out of mana lets you escape.

The best by far is Karma support, I saw some bitch with 2 dorans and a Liandrys who had close to 250 AP and was just destroying people with her Q. I'm pretty sure she counters Thresh and Annie already, just remains for her to become FOTM because she's strong.

Nocturne? I can see the rest working, under the right circumstances, but Noc is melee without gap closer until 6, good ranged harass and no instant/reliable cc. Maybe he could work, but I don't really see it. Could try it sometime I guess.

Phy, diamond player who makes a bunch of guides and shit on youtube, listed Karma as top 5 support a couple of weeks ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...list=PLxzUdBLsU8agsXaOCk8cXpTO9PV2ZC0nF#t=155 Explains how to lane as, and against, Karma.
Watch his other stuff too and maybe those unconventional picks might not come as a suprise.

Personally nothing beats Shaco support, the boxes work for vision, bush and dragon/baron control and if you pop one under your adc when a fight starts it even makes a decent peel.
Ive been meaning to try Mundo support with Targons, if you against a non-sustain support like Leona those percentage damage cleavers would do some work.

AP Shaco? I don't play him, one of few champs I think I don't have a single game with, not even vs. bots. Very trollish champ though and annoying as hell to face if good.

I like Maokai as a support, well I like the tree in general. Does a similar job as Leona pre-6, with some poke but less burst. Of course, Leona does it better and her ult gives her a much bigger power spike. Still, the same thing that makes Mao such a great ganker mmakes him great at setting them up.

As @Mystary demonstrated today, I would rather have a bot lane with a good-to-very-good support paired with a poor-to-decent (a stretch) ADC. Talk about carrying me on his back. Should have gone ranked. :M

So Karma support is legit? I have been just randomly picking her because laning against Leona consists of sitting back and doing nothing intelligent anyway, at least Karma Q has decent range and I can shield the adc, root Leona and whatever who am I kidding the Leona lane just wins.

Won 4/5 of the Karma games it seems. What? Wasn't this supposed to be a complex champion, all I'm doing is spam mantra Q's and snare and shield people.

Karma was recently played in LCS and a lot of Korean teams used to run her. But with the new season there are probably better supports out there.

I don't think I've ever had this much fun with a champion before while also being this consistently successful.
Always wanted to master Tryndamere but never really had the balls. Whenever I tried picking him I'd get horribly countered by some early game bully and either die level one or be harrassed and zoned for the entire laning phase.
But then I started thinking, if Nasus can make up for his weak early game by using the new defensive tree, why not Tryndamere?
Tried 9/21 in a couple of normals and it was amazing, you become practically unkillable, especially the sustain from Second Wind synergizes well with his kit. Pretty soon I started feeling almost embarrassed, like I was cheesing and pussying out or something, it was unheard of as far as I knew.
But then I caught Dyrus streaming as Tryndamere, (he's currently like 19W/4L with him) and as he was flipping through his masteries I saw that he had two pages dedicated to Trynd, EASY Tryndamere (21/9) and HARD Tryndamere (9/21), so I was obviously onto something!
And yesterday Rohammers posted an AMA on reddit after having reached challenger by only playing Tryndamere. I checked his masteres and he had the same setup, so I took the opportunity to ask him when and why he goes 9/21 and he responded saying that nowadays he always use that because "21/9 relies on rng crits and it is highly inconsistent".
So, if you wanna gain some easy elo and cant seem to survive lane with Trynd go 9/21, theres no shame in it! Even the challengers do it :M

Do you go for that annoying "splitpush all game" strategy? Annoying fucking champ if played like that since he can "come 1v1 me nab!" safely against most champs and has a good chance to get away if you send more. Can't ignore him either since then your inhibitor will be gone in no time.

God, barely played this game since deployment and it's nearly impossible to get into when your MMR (and to a fair degree, your skill) degrades to fucking wood.

Yeah pretty much. Almost noone can fight Trynd alone and as soon as they send more than one person after you the split pushing has succeeded (and you'll probably kill atleast one of them), your team is gonna take an objective or win a team fight somewhere else.

I'd say the current meta favours split pushing immensely at the moment, because alot of the popular champions have excellent wave clear or disengages, like Gragas, Ziggs, Jinx, Sivir etc. They can defend a turret 4v5 indefinitely so theres very little risk leaving them by themselves.
