Those and Scouting, Diplomacy, Navigation, Mysticism... there were some really useless skills in that game. Having to choose between two of them was a real catch 22. I still can't really decide which is the lesser of two evils in this shot, Eagle eye I guess.

Really ? It's the "get a percentage of a stack you would beat the crap out of anyway for money" skill, right ? If so, I never found any real use to it. I never play multiplayer though, so maybe it is useful for early zerg rushing other players ?

Hommfags will play on impossible difficulty (no starting resources), so any pack of mobs, no matter how shitty will be a boon to the early exploration. If you're lucky and get, say, elf month and you already have 100+ of them in the army, chances are you'll be picking them up left and right. It gets even worse when playing against necropolis player who can turn all those trash mobs in skeletons and knock on your door with a legion of them in several weeks time. But as I recall Necropolis gets banned altogether. Especially on extra large maps.

So it's really a multiplayer thing then, as with Age of wonders things change drastically from SP to MP. Exploring/attacking as fast as possible isn't as mandatory in SP. You can play fast of course, but the AI being what it is you don't have to. I'm more of a slow but strong type, protoss rather than zerg. The only time I remember Diplomacy being remotely useful in my experience was with stacks of archers. They are easy to scare, even in large enough numbers to really matter, and a real addition to most stacks. But it still didn't make it worth a skill slot.

EDIT :

Coming soon...

Yo, Vazdru, what are the names of your PCs? It seems to be a tradition to name them after fellow Codexers.

So I got these stats and am unsure what to do with them. I had already classed him as thief when I rolled these so that's what he is. I was wondering if I could turn him into a whirling illusionist of death.

Not this time I'm afraid. I have different policies regarding naming my PCs, sometimes I use me and my friends names, sometimes I use totally LARP names, this time it's practical and easy to remember names.
Fighter : Tank
Cleric : Doc
Thief : Swiftoo (Originally Swift, but changed to this when I changed him from halfling to human, he's Swift two and swift too)
Wizard : Gomasse (obscure French slang for wizard)
Ranger : Woody (new PC I created in Lonelywood, I was curious to see how high and fast a level 1 character would rise on HoW XP only)

Is that FFUR? Are you using some directx wrapper to make it look better? Because I remember there used to be something that gave OFP DX9 effects, but I searched for it recently and couldn't find it.

Recently I decided to play OFP again. Downloaded the GOG version & started the campaign. First mission we get out of the helicopter, walk 100m and then stop. I wait and wait and walk everywhere trying to trigger the scripts but no use. The AI had bugged out on me one minute into the game.

The worst part is how OFP/ArmA always saves the game when you exit. As if I'm ever coming back.

I don't quite remember since I've made those in 2009. Just found on teh internets.
But from what I remember it was a hi-res malden texture pack (2048x2048), bierghoff vegetation for malden (prolly version 3), SJB weapons pack 1.1 for high-detail guns, don't remember what grass was used, prolly ultima or something like that, don't remember what was used for 3D clouds, sky is probably ModulSky. Also OFP compatible ENBSeries (prolly the one for GTA VC)

Also campaign was broken in 1.99. There is a hotfix.

Shortly afterwards, Metal Hull Doughnut (MHD) Codexia died horribly. Fucking firebombs right after I wasted all my scrap upgrading my generator and shields. Should've prioritized more power bars to weapons so I could bring my big gunz to bear faster. :(
The worm in the weapons room is a new species. Never seen those before.

Wat gaem is it? Looks tasty.

Quantum Conundrum. What a mess. Graphics are really poor, performance is disastrous, story sucks, and the puzzles are weak and annoying, usually requiring lighting reflexes and no brains.

That's a shame, it looked quite promising as a portal-like in the trailers.
