Do you mean the auto attack bug?

There seems to be an issue with ordering party members atm, sometimes it doesn't work.

OK, Loving it but the combat is fucking impossibly clusterfuck at the moment due to lack of proper feedback etc. Characters randomly stop moving, the floating damage numbers come at weird places so I can't tell what's damaging what, some spells/effects don't have any feedback (e.g. I can't tell if my dude is chanting), etc., etc. meaning there's a huge mess of shit. Not to mention IWD2 icons confuse me because I remember all the spells tied to those icons.

Other funnies involve the boat companion with Mendeth's party duplicating into 7 copies, the journal clearing itself permanently after a reload, etc.

But it's pretty clear this is some awesome shit once it reaches final game state. Looks gorgeous, good UI, good writing, IE replicated at every spot, combat is D&D on steroids with all kinds of shit thrown in, etc, etc.

Nvm it's fine as long as I slow it down for combat, otherwise sometimes I get lost in regards to what each party member is doing. Funnily enough, I can visualize that much more clearly in the IE.

I think it's just a feedback issue.

I could not resist, I tried priest on hard just now. Ward Seal is still very useful, but not enough against the Crystal Spiders in the cave (just had 1 left!). There are still plenty of spells that I have not tested out fully yet though. I cannot speak much for balance, but priests seem to have a very nice toolset in terms of buffs, stamina healing, and control spells.

I have not seen too much about the other classes though as of yet.

Also the knockdown sound never stops playing when I use it, most of the time.

EDIT: It plays until the next attack is ordered and carried out.

Yeah, lack of visual feedback along with those issues caused that feeling for me. However, I've been slowing the game down for every battle now, and it has become much easier and clearer (I'm clearing out areas that I was unable to before).

Does Normal Speed button work for you after you assign one? I thought it doesn't so you just get stuck on slow or double.

Well, sure experienced a lot of difficulty when I started, but now it's fine. I restarted it again and I walked all over the beetles this time by focus firing each of them individually.

I beat the first beetle encounter on Hard, but my Wizard got KO'd straight up with a poison attack.

I did actually die in my first fight, because I aggro'd the group of Adra beetles that's like 10m north of the first group at the same time. They're positioned pretty close together, if you move any characters north at all, you'll aggro them, so you have to hug the trees to the south.

The auto attack bug is INFURIATING.

Definitely. That and your characters running all over each other in important combat moments.

Well, I think I'm done for the night, I gotta sleep, but my first play session left me with a few questions for you guys.

So, I admit, I had a tough start. I was pretty confused, my combat was really ineffective, and I mostly didn't understand what was going on and generally got lost. Now, I did play the IE games, so what does that mean? Am I retarded? I believe not, so I'd like to ask you this: how was your first experience with it? Adapting to combat, learning everything, etc? I'll say that when I started slowing the battles down, everything got much, much clearer.

Perhaps I was so confused because I was dropped at a random point in the game with Level 5 characters and semi difficult battles to handle? Or is it that the game failed in some way to communicate to me what was happening? What do you guys think about the visual feedback the game offers? Is it fine? Does it need to change? Did it kinda confuse you guys too when you started?

How are the auto-pause features?

Beaten four groups of beetles in a row now. Fighter got KO'd in the last fight against 2 Stone Beetles and an Adra Beetle. On hard, the seconds you lose from auto-attack / commands not working is very painful.

I assume no-ones been through all the content yet? I wonder if it's more BG, PST or IWD.

What does the combat time slider do?

As described by the game itself, "autopause at a fixed interval during combat". It ranges from 2 sec to 14.5 sec. I in particular don't see the point of it. I sure wouldn't use it.

Path of the Damned on Hard is no joke. Managed to make it a couple of beetle groups deep without the OP classes though. Anyone else having a really tough time figuring out exact positioning of your own guys with all that grass? Having some issues with the line spells like the Wizard's flame orb thingy, constantly burning my own guys...

Got the hang of it now as well. Maybe I've gotten used to it but now I can tell what is going on after a few more battles, and can get by on Hard, perhaps switching in a Godlike Druid helped. Once they get the sliding / bugs / feedback / etc sorted this is going to be delicious - IE D&D but better.

Couple of infuriating bugs like erroneous 'party is dead' shit, but the basics seem very solidly built in. Currently in the Ruins fighting cultists.

I don't use auto-pause. Never did in the IE games either.
I use it to pause when enemies detected and when enemy killed so I can re-assign people to new targets, also when traps detected, low HP's and on harder fights when enemy spell casters began casting so I could maybe interrupt them. I love auto-pause.

Yes, for those spells, it would perhaps be useful if the game indicated which characters are in its AoE, ala DOS.
