Still, it’s nice to be home and back into the thick of things here. Speaking of which, for those of you who’ve come to visit the page, you may have noticed our countdown. Our countdown to what? It should become clear in 4 days or so – stay vigilant.
I clench my teeth a little every time I see someone say "Fallout 4" or "Dungeon Siege 4." God I hate stupid, reaching speculation.

Jinx you owe me a coke.

MCA Project: Eternity
- if they have any meaning, the words sound celtic or at least inspired by norse mythology
- the wording sounds very sawyerish (months ago he mentioned something about writing dialogues while listeing to valhalla rising)
- the 4 simply is a countdown for the announcement and to fire up speculation (brother none's response was way too shady)
- it's a completely new ip to grant them enough freedom and to save licensing costs
- because the announcment/teaser will be done by obsidian it's either self published and funded or the long overdue kickstarter project
- it's no aaa budget game and therefore pc exclusive and will be powered by onyx; perhaps ported to consoles later if it's a success
- the game's probably party based with a strong focus on story produced by sawyer
- brother none mentioned "crowed-pleaser"; high chance for being turn based and/or isometric?

could it be defiance or even the black hound with all the dnd references stripped?

I hope it is a countdown to a countdown to a countdown of an announcement of an announcement.

I doubt it is bullshit. The source is a Linkdin profile. Those are actually VERY accurate sources for a "leak".

the connection was only drawn because of the number. the 4 stands for a countdown and ain't dungeon siege 4. at square ds3 was called project x internally - obsidian named it project maryland. besides square has absolutely no intention to do another dungeon siege in the near future.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Enhanced Edition.

Hehe...heh...heh.

I'm starting to think it's a new IP. Never really seen anyone tease about a new IP before, though.

I'd like to see them get a chance to make their own IP for once. I mean, awhile back we were convinced that their end was near. It would be nice for them to make something that wasn't someone else's IP.

To tenDernEss, FellowshIp. To fellowship, vigilANCE. ?

EDIT:

we have an older pitch that we really like called "Defiance" which is about a fantasy world where, basically, Sauron won. Everything isn't happy in The Shire, they didn't get the ring in the fire and the hobbits are all dead.

And we actually pitched them an original IP, which was a game called Defiance. (I would love to be able to make it at some point.) The idea behind Defiance was that we kind of took the alternate [route] that intead of like, "happy Lord of the Rings land" in which the evil people get killed and the ring gets thrown into the volcano - what happens if Sauron won? So, [it was the idea of] making a whole fantasy world based off of: "What does Sauron become, and what does the world become, if Sauron won?" We had been talking about that, but it was a big-budget project. And so at that point, as we start to get into late 2008 and 2009, the "badness" occurs with the economy.

- "To fellowship, vigilance." could remind one of the Fellowship of the Ring etc.
- "The Dirge of Eír Glanfath" does sound very Tolkienesque
- "I am the Spindle of Esenath. Know me by my light and stand with me in darkness." could remind of the scene with Gandalf and the Balrog... if you squint really hard.
Actually this makes a lot of sense, and I will change religion to MCA-ism, if this is true.

Actually, if it were true, I would be very happy (with the setting, but only if they don't make it Dragon Age "grimdark" I cringe on stuff like that), and as long as they don't announce making it real time popamole and for consoles.

Granted, "Project X" isn't the most unique codename (In fact, there is a game coming to Japan titled "Project X Zone", though Square isn't involved), but this guy was Obisidan's handler.

My curiosity is definitely peaked, will be interesting to find out what it is. The 4 definitely seems like a timer of some sort, so we'll prolly find out in 4 days, or maybe 4 weeks. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be some real time popamole crap though I won't be surprised if it does

Why do they mention pc exclusive in these threads about Obsidian's mysterious project then?
No one official ever mentions it, except ever-naive obsidian fanboys. They just never learn.
Except Brother None and sea, who saw the preview at Gamebansee and said that it is in the right subforum.
