Roguey Can it still "low budget Dragon Age" if it ends up not having elves at all?

I'm not pleased with RTwP, no full party creation or the art style I've seen so far. I'm pissed that with the lack of a publisher, and the total freedom of creating their own IP, the small part of what they've shown honestly seems really bland and redundant.

This. It's not that RTwP is always worse than TB, it's that TB - like in Wasteland 2, like in Shadowrun Returns, like in Chaos Chronicles, like in Dead State, like in Divinity: Original Sin - shows that a developer is willing to go against trends and make a game they think should be made, not one that they think will be easiest to market. We know that Buck had to even convince Feargus that even a BG2 clone would be well received, so I wouldn't be surprised if TB was completely out of the question.

Like with Wasteland (and its graphics), this wouldn't be THE thing to bitch about if he had more to go on, but right now it's pretty vague (except that there will be fetch quests in the game, because Feargus thinks it's good to have easy quests sometimes).

6 millions is out of reach. It will be probably between 2.5 and 3.5 millions. But I hope I'm wrong.

Magic and elves are only cool if you're a Tolkien fag and I was under the impression that most of us here have evolved beyond that nonsense. Try again, Josh.

BTW Roguey you didn't actually answer my question.
Oh. I'd say yes. Considering they're both real time with pause games with emphasis on story and companions that take place in a fantasy setting turned on its head/WITH EDGE that tackle mature themes (Note: Bioware has a teenager's idea of what "mature" means).

Oh and I wouldn't be surprised if it had cooldowns as well.

What are your thoughts on cooldowns as a mechanic in RPGs? Would you consider them a lazy and/or inelegant way of providing balance?

I don't think they are lazy or inelegant. Mechanics either achieve their goals or they don't. If they do and the players enjoy them, they are good. if they don't and/or the players don't enjoy them, they are bad. Sometimes elegant solutions are dysfunctional and sometimes complex mechanics (under the hood) are really solid. It really depends on the specific use.
I hope it does just to induce rage in the people who hate them.

Yeah look. I'm not writing it off as a deal breaker but it's certainly disappointing. I started a new game of BG after beating ToEE and the only thing I could think the whole time was "fuck I wish this was TB".

What the fuck does that have to do with anything
I thought you might counter back with "Dragon Age tries to be mature?" It would have been funny, yes.

I didn't fucking want a spiritual successor to PS:T and moreover a spiritual successor to Torment wouldn't need to be real time with pause because no one fucking liked its shitty combat why would you want to recreate it warts and all I mean god damn

If W2 attracted Biodrones, this is like their heaven:

oooh.. if only we could have BOO back! in some form or another.

:retarded:

Fuck you and your stupid rodent.

TwinkieGorilla: Yes, when people said they wanted a PST spiritual successor they were actually referring to RTwP combat.

Anyway, this has the best 10k reward I've seen so far. I'd totally make Avellone GM Planescape for me. :bounce:.
Anybody want to be my buddy and split this in two? Like you put in 9k and I put in the rest? :troll:

This isn't the Spiritual Successor to PS:T though. That one is still in MCA's head.
