what are skill checks level tresholds? lockpicking 6 cant open anything, just like Tyranicon mentioned

All that sneaking and pointy daggers skills wasted too... Can't really alpha strike my enemies, cant open anything. Could have gone instead for swords and bash enemies with it

I'm finding the hardest enemies so far to be the slimes, especially later on when they're always in groups. Their projectile attack will deal about 1.5x your health bar in damage over time, apply a nasty slow and visual filter, and are pretty hard to dodge at close range. I mostly just run past them.

The wastelanders come in a few varieties: reasonably tanky, very tanky, and ungodly tanky. I sunk most of my skill points into strength, dexterity and sword, but it doesn't seem to boost my killing abilities that much. I'm assuming from the numbers that weapon damage scales rather poorly. There might be a lot of balancing work to be done.

Combat itself I'm mostly cheesing by backpedaling and heavy attacking. The wastelanders don't have the reach to hit you. Heavy attacks also knock them out of their potion drinking animation (which they don't take damage during? I can't tell since they have so much health).

Different enemies will attack each other, but it's hard to pull off since they seem hellbent on killing you first.

Did you solve the rune puzzle yet? I can't figure it out. I lined up the runes with the markings above the door, but no luck. Also I stole the chapel's golden chalice. That was pretty fun.

There's a monument with the symbols on a castle roof that you automatically take notes from. I got pretty far into the lower caves and haven't backtracked yet, but that might be the solution.

The game's combat feels great from a purely systemic perspective, you can kick you can throw shit you have different attacks based on your movement direction like in Morrowind.
But the enemy health bars are just way too fucking high. The HP bloat needs to be toned down severely.

So far I'm only keeping one save in Monomyth though and just reload when I die, it's not a game that punishes you too harshly for mistakes. There's always a way to get back to where you came from and creative exploration is rewarded.

Lacking detailed information about what all the stats do make it hard to choose a build.
RatTower If you're interested in the best presentation of how to demonstrate the interdependence of skills and abilities I've ever seen in a cRPG, support our local DavidBVal, buy Archaelund, and roll a character.

It's a really, really good presentation that doesn't just rely on reading.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
But seriously, I've been burnt SO many times over the years with Early Access, with games that came out borked or bad or not at all, that I've forbidden myself to buy anything EA ever again, even if it was my mom promising to cook me a delicious dinner in an hour if I give her a dollar now.

Sad, I know. But I have both this and Archaelund in my wishlist and plan to grab it when it comes out finished and functional and not shit.

Half the time I buy Early Access games just to support small devs if I like what they're doing. I'm sure people have done the same for me so I'm paying it forward.

The fact that I'm enjoying the game itself is a nice bonus.

Anyone else found any enchanted weapons yet? The only one I've found so far is the War Axe of Power.
Starting from the church in the Heartlands exit through the back where the glowing blue fountain is, go across the bridge, follow the path west and you'll find a cave way high up across the river. If you can parkour your way up there somehow (there are consumables that help with this), you'll find the unique axe inside.

Where do I find this fag's body parts? I've found two of them in some rat-infested caves along the river and one where the slimes are. All I'm missing right now are the arms.

I am a shrimple man
Me can kick in the face? Me buy.
Kicking in this game is an afterthought. It consumed half of your stamina bar and the only times it actually helps is when you need to interrupt an enemy.

But you can successfully kick even with 5% of stamina left, kick with 5% stamina left -> spam attacks with empty stamina -> wait for 5% to recover -> repeat until. It's free real estate

I think the important thing is to only buy Early Access games if you consider them worth the price with no further updates. Either that or view it as a donation if you like the developer.

It's fairly functional. I used it to trap a wastelander behind a hidden room. I kicked him inside and threw the lever to lock him in. Gonna keep him as a pet.

after a few hours, it's good, the aforementioned hits from enemies are easily kited. it needs a lot of polish and i've got a lengthy backlog to tackle while this gets tinkered with so i'll keep my peepers peeled.
