HOLLY SHIT!!!, i totally forgot that this game exist.. A LP of FLOOR 13 is a MUST!!!. If i remember correctly the "AMIGA" version was bugged or at least the version that i had when i was a kid.
There's an LP of it somewhere on the Something Awful forums, if you're interested.
Damn, crashing game sucks. But it's good to know that finally some made it to the chopper. Unfortunately not in the LP thread here.
I'm stepping back for other volunteers here because I had already two (unfinished... grumbl grumbl) play runs.
I swear I won't abandon all of you just because of some stupid buggy game. Alicia will live to hate another day, goddamnit!
On that note...
Zafehouse: Dairies Version 1.14 is out!
New features include:
- New location: Diner. Food can sometimes be difficult to find (and prepare), but your chances will be better at the town's local eatery.
- New dilemmas: These you'll have to find on your own. What we will say is that the infection might not be as fatal as researchers first thought...
- New items: Silenced handgun, guitar and one you'll have to discover. Let's just say its owner won't give it up without a fight.
- New occupation: Musician. With the right equipment, a musician can put the group at ease... or annoy the hell out of them.
- It should no longer be possible for survivors to die *and* be rescued.
- Save games are now backed-up before a save is performed, and recovered if a failure occurs during the save process.
- The game will no longer exit if the saving process fails, allowing play to continue unaffected.
WHY DID IT TAKE TILL VERSION 1.14 TO IMPLEMENT THIS SHIT
- The game no longer erroneously informs the player that their survivors are at the rescue location.
@Dayyalu: It was a bug after all!
- Numerous tweaks to the lynch mob dilemma, including incorporating environmental factors (barricades, traps, etc) into resolution and trigger chance.
It would've been nice to have this during that run where my survivors were wiped out by the mob despite being in a fully-fortified, trapped location...
- Fixed a crash related to game saves and random custom locations (thanks DarKPenguiN).

But the most interesting thing to come out of this update is this...
Custom Occupation Editor!
That's right! You can now make your occupation, instead of being forced to play something shitty
like a librarian!
Morkar,
ironyuri,
lightbane,
Moribund,
utarefson, if you're interested in playing something else other than the provided occupation (one of the new ones is Musician), please submit a custom occupation for your character to use.
Choose three words that best describe this occupation, by order of relevance.
Realistic: Practical, stable and involves working with physical objects and solving concrete problems.
Investigative: Attractive to curious, logical and inquisitive people; often associated with technical, scientific or academic work.
Artistic: Appeals to creative and intuitive people; involves working with abstract ideas.
Social: Involves helping or caring for others, typically in teams.
Enterprising: Associated with confidence, persuasiveness, independence and motivating others.
Conventional: Efficient, organised, logical; often involves structured, practical tasks.
Allocate points to the following attributes.
(Six points represents a balanced occupation, however, you may allocate up to 12 points, with a maximum of three in each attribute.)
Strong: Physical strength and bearing. Determines one's ability to avoid injury in combat, use melee weapons and carry items.
Smart: Intelligence and wits. The ability to perform tasks requiring expert knowledge, such as first aid or engineering.
Perceptive: Awareness and observation skills. Aids in combat accuracy, searching and noticing small details.
Resilient: Personal fortitude and strength of character. One's ability to keep their cool and persevere in difficult situations.
I'd personally rather not people allocate the max 12 points for their careers since I'm interested in a balanced game, but if y'all are interested in a gimmick run where everybody is a fucking Gary Stu, please, by all means, go for it.
Minimum education level:
Uneducated
High school
University
Also, don't forget to give your occupation a
title!
Also, if you want to change your special trait now that you know what they actually do, now would be the time to do it. There is now also the option to randomize all your character traits (age, sex, etc) if you feel like leaving your fate in the hands of the RNGod.
Here's the
full documentation for this patch for those who are interested. Since I haven't touched the new version yet, I'll be going into this run half-blind too, so this should be... quite entertaining.
