Republique is already at $544471, $44471 over the line.
The rallying cry at their headquarters today should be "Thank god for stupid people!"
Something like that, yeah. I think Rock Paper Shotgun will get some fat kickbacks for their Republique article published earlier today. Who knows how many other websites did the same thing in order to more than double the pledges in a matter of days.

^ 10k is the max donation on Kickstarter, and donating to your own account will get your Amazon Payments account locked, apparently. I guess they could use multiple dummy accounts from their company or something. But fortunately for them, there's plenty of idiots around.

We're talking about 300k in 2 days. This is faster than any of the hype generated by the other big names. It's fishy. But it's not the end of the world either.

I wonder what happens if completed pledges goes under the goal due failed charges.

Saw this on Indiegogo...something described as Metroid having a baby with Metal Slug...

That this abortion dares to compare itself to Metroid and Metal Slug is rage inducing, flexible funding too, I will not even make the effort to put it in the brown.

For the last news, Steve Jackson's Ogre almost got 1M$, Republique instead closed with enough money to pay the 10% fee to Amazon too.

Everybody chill the fuck out, you will get the change to be *stupid* once MCA announces his project. Less envy, more support. :)

I understand where you're coming from since Metroid is one of my favorite games but I do hope you don't think I was being supportive of this travesty. I just point these things out and let the community decide :D.

For those of you who own a Nintendo DS, this might be of interest. It is a two-player turn-based strategy game that has been approved by Nintendo, something which is impressive in itself knowing Nintendo.

Quoted from the KS page:

Diamond Trust is a two-player, turn-based, simultaneous-decision strategy game about diamond traders operating in Angola in the year 2000. Over the course of eight in-game months, diamonds accumulate in various regions to be taken by the highest bidder, and whoever brings the most diamonds back from Angola wins. Outfoxing your opponent is your main tactic, but bribing and spying mechanics complicate things. When agent loyalty waivers, your hidden information can be revealed to your opponent without you knowing that it has been revealed. On the other hand, you might know that one of your agents has been bribed by your opponent, but does your opponent know that you know?

Sorry if it sounded snarky, I should have phrased it better.
About Diamond Trust, reeks of money for the publisher, Let' see if I am wrong.

Edit:
I found this article:
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...plicated_Journey_Of_Rohrers_Diamond_Trust.php
Essentially he got two publishers, both unwilling to risk money for expensive cartridges.

No worries. I knew you were being snarky at the KS not me personally :D.

I read on the official site that the Nintendo Approval Process is a hell of a trial to go through, at least it's implied.

DraQ this might be in your line of interests: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/celsiusgs/drifter-a-space-trading-game

I did not read/watch all of it but it gave me that 'Elite' vibe.. although generated universe vs. actual universe.
2D space & non-newtonian & not up to scale => definite pass.
:obviously:

I mean, what's the point?

Despite all the desperate effort to ride Frontier's wake wave it's clear we're dealing with a vastly inferior product that doesn't offer even tenth of what Frontier did in 1993 in terms of gameplay, and it's not like it has anything else to work in its favour - It doesn't look terribly spectacular and I take the claims of awsum story with a grain of salt by default, as usual.

OTOH there is Pioneer currently in alpha stage, which is effectively an unofficial Frontier++, there is D3DFFE AKA "Russian mod" for FFE which aims to elevate graphics to current standards and recently yet another Frontier++ in the works has surfaced:

Kz3r0, I think you should add [JRPG] and [MMO] tags to the games in the OP, so people could determine faster which ones to not give a shit about.

Of which there are two each, besides, is clearly indicated in the name or the description of the project

No 2D space like in Space Rangers or MOO2? I'll pass.
May I interest you in a naval combat game befitting a monocled gentleman such as yourself?

:obviously:

Found something which looks like WH40K mixed with MOO2, Cathedral like ships and swords in Space:
