Also, you guys will probably be happy to know that Xenonauts is now on Kickstarter.
Wow, first tier is $20! Bold move, they are really betting on a strong fan base. Then again they have biuld a very strong one, have a nice video and a demo to boot and are asking just 50k. I'm betting they will get shitloads of money...

4 days to go, the gameplay video looks interesting.
Humm....I don't know if is just because is a begginers game, but I was expecting something more...it really just look like a very basic MTG game...

Xenonauts is a great game. I've pledged $20 even though I've already pre-ordered on their site long ago.

So I asked Goldhawk if they'll release a DRM-free version. Here's their reply:
I'll look into this for you. It won't be possible on our site but I'll get in touch with GOG.

Yes, give more exposure to Xenonauts! :bro:
I think it's 20$ because they already had a preorder thing and don't want to fuck over the people that already gave them money.

Holy shit Xenonauts. 50$ pledge here I come!

Sweet shit...!

For anyone that has tried the alpha or demo; how much potential does this have to become a true modern XCOM? I can't try it myself for the next week or so..

It's turn-based, has action points etc. The aliens only recently got smart enough to be dangerous but I have faith that it will be as deadly as X-COM.

The aerial interception is much better and more fun than the old games.

You got nice base building, personnel management, research.

All in all it looks like a worthy successor.

Well, the video at

was uploaded May 1st. The video descripton reads:
This is a very light, casual & fun beginner's game. Serpent's Tongue can be played in various styles. I prefer my Serpent's Tongue a bit more serious. So we will be releasing a more intense duel between full-fledged Magi later this week.

So it's 8 days old. hopefully we'll have a chance to see the "more serious game" video before the kickstarter ends. They also promised more tiers to be added tomorrow. Maybe the video will come with that update.
I'm still on the fence. I'll probably end up pledging in the end since I'm a sucker for pretty baubles. But I'll wait until there's like 4-5 hours left on the countdown before I make the final decision.

Well, I asked the Xenonauts guys about a DRM-free version and they said that they got in touch with GOG about it and they hope they will have one but can't confirm at this time. Well, too bad. Maybe they can confirm until the end of their Kickstarter campaign.

MCA Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech
Portal has been canceled, they said that will restart the project with a goal of 550K$ this time, practically half of what they were asking for.

550K for what? Hell even Jane Jenson didn't need that much. Their whole OMG gotta make it next gen whatever is retarded. They need to show us some working prototype first before I give them anything.

So... anyone up for fundraising $200 so we can get MCA added to the game? ;)
We should get at least MCA and Fargo in the game. We can even start a poll about the worthiest persons we could get into it, with, let's say, a maximum of 3 to 5 Codex-sponsored places.

Why do you want to get RPG devs involved in an XCOM game !?

If anything, Sir-Tech should supervise the combat of the game.

Haha, it's good to see that Portal cancelled its kickstarter and remade with a more realistic goal of... $550,000?

This guy can't be serious. Maybe $50,000 would be a more viable target.

Kingdom of Epicland the first game of its kind to combine the Point-and-Click adventure genre with the RPG genre.
Oh, so what about the Quest For Glory series, which looks infinitely more fun than this is even though the games are 20 years old?

To be fair, QFG is infinitely more fun than most games.

The bane of HHR!:
Explore the meaning and joy of life with atheists in this book of photos and commentary. A Better Life: 100 Atheists Speak Out on Joy and Meaning in a World Without God, is a 200+ page, hardcover photography book featuring subjects both famous and not, including well known atheist/agnostic speakers, writers, and celebrities.
And from the updates:
I'm also excited to announce one of the most recent subjects to join the project; Teresa Macbain, who was a Methodist pastor for ten years before she recently came out as an atheist. I'm very excited to have her involved.

The bane of HHR!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/persevero/jimmy-valiant-scions-of-danger-the-movie

The message is simple: Heroism begins at the heart. For the last fifty years, men have watched movie heroes such as James Bond, Rambo, Jason Bourne, and the characters of the Mission Impossible series and received a counterfeit picture of manhood. While many appreciate the courage and can-do spirit of these characters, they’ve also been treated to a wash of self-indulgence: lust, rage, and rebellion. With admiration, young boys have grown into adult males emulating these wicked attributes. True manhood has been the casualty.

Our film JIMMY VALIANT: SCIONS OF DANGER seeks to present Christian heroism — where men follow the example of their Savior Jesus Christ by giving themselves for the weaker. This begins at the heart. As the main character of our story has to discover, men have to acknowledge Christ’s Lordship over them in order to fight for justice over vengeance.

Some LULZ from Republique comments:
Into hour 43, required pledge rate: $3494 per hour. Fascinating at how stable this rate is currently.
Yep, they should disguise this better.

wow people are pulling pledges cause of no demo serously? getting demos ready distracts from producing the game for starters. and the devs will talk about game play more when thay have somthing nailed down. Better to have solid information than running the risk of showing somthing thay might not be able to implament

People need to manage there expectations alitle more I think. Development is fluid give the team some time and faith.

I don't understand what is wrong with there currently being no demo. As far as being ignored, I'd imagine that the Camouflaj team is pretty busy right now, once the thing is funded then they will have more time to think about demos, betas and forum discussions.
Some kickstarters are more vocal than others. I am not concerned with a playable demo at this stage, I mean, I have seen the game, I have an idea of the premise, I don't really need more than that to support the game. Besides I am supporting a dream more than a game.
I have aplenty of dreams, could you please send me money?

Traditionally a demo is one of the last things you make. Isn't the point of kickstarter to get things going prior to that? :|

This fellow is rather Prosperous. A pity he got no funding. Some of the proposed chapter titles:
"Zeus in the New Paradigm with baby young-lings."
"The "Hitler within the Spatial Realm" -- ['Theorem!'} -- That too was a very revealing and perplexed Dream / Quantum Viewing!"
"My Name-Keith Mortimer Flash Jr., viewed in the large Book of Life"

From the very start of the pitch, you know it's gonna be something special: "To all that will read the following, please be aware that this is gong to be a serious read... please, allow for 10 to 12 minutes... please be patient and take your time. Thank you all..."

And, from his About Me: "What’s there to know about me? I’m just a regular guy with not so regular ambitions. A friend of mine in Central New Jersey named Muggsy, once told me concerning himself, He said, “I’m just a simple guy, Keith… that’s all, just a simple guy!” It has taken many decades to finally understand what he was referring to."

The Republique game sounds kind of interesting, but very shady. Not that I think it's an outright scam but it seems like the game is fully funded already and they're just trying to shake down some rubes into pre ordering the game at higher than retail prices.

That books is for recovering religious peoples. But yeah their price is pretty ridiculous.

$180 doesn't seem bad for low production volume shoes that aren't made by Vietnamese child labour.
