For some reason, this quote reminds me of this video:

I know that P&P games are really not what this thread is about, but this one looked too good to pass up. Sorry.

LotFP Hardcover and Adventures Project Basically, the project sets out to make a hardcover version of the LotFP books, which are not only already available but are also very similar to OD&D (it is what OSR people call a retro-clone)! However, even though the basic goal of the project isn't so hot, the stretch goals are! Mr. Raggi has got various known rpg authors lined up to create adventures for his system if he can get enough money. The names include Kenneth Hite at $15,000, Frank Mentzer at $22,500, Steve Kenson at $45,000 and Zak Smith at $52,000!

Legends of Eisenwald: looks like a King's Bounty/HOMM type of game, except your squad's comprised of heroes rather than units. Graphics are pretty good, and I like the video on the KS page. Backing this one because it looks like it has potential for incline.

I was just about to post this myself :D

Looks interesting and I like the fact they aren't asking a king's ransom for the game. I hope the game gets funded!

I find weird that they refuse orcs, elves, dwarves and mages as "too fantasious", but there is some sort of magic still, as shown by the undead hordes and some over-the-top concept arts (ie. red glowing eyes)...still, looks like a very interesting LARP group game project, especially the combat, that seems more fluid than King's Bounty...

"Kitaru is an interactive sci-fi epic that breaks the mold of RPG storytelling. Its innovative, postmodern storytelling approach thrusts the dystopian fantasy of George Orwell's "1984" into the realm of classic gaming's Chrono Trigger, Shadowrun and Metal Gear Solid."

Yet another western JRPG, at least it's not (only) fantasy crap.
That's pretty high expectation references, though.

If this is not made by japs then why the hell are the characters japs? Totally ruins it for me.

The graphics is a definite :incline:

But there is a catch. This game is made by Russians. There is a 99.9% probability that it will be a huge unfinished unbalanced piece of elephant shit.

Turn based tactical battles where we managed to get rid of the main enemy of turn based battles – boredom. There are no moving without striking and every move there is a choice whom to attack and whom to defend. Often an entire battle outcome depends on a decision which makes a battle intense from beginning to end.

LOL people who think they have redefined turn based gaming always make me laugh. I can hardly control my excitement!! Also, find someone who can speak English without sounding like a retard. And, hey, I thought it was impossible to make kickstarters when you're not from the US? Has someone managed to circumvent the system?

And before I close, the idea behind this game is really nice, but there is 0% chance that it will be done right.

It's no where near as RAGE INDUCING Anime as seen in other jRPG's. This one is actually pretty fucking cool. I really like the art style and world concept.

However, a bit unsure how the game would actually be like. Still unsure so not funding.

From the Kitaru FAQ
Q: How is such a tiny dev team with limited resources making the game for multiple platforms?

A: We are building Kitaru in the versatile, widely used Unity3D game engine which readily exports to a variety of platforms. It's true that targeting multiple platforms is still challenging. It requires multiple versions of assets for high and low end devices and strategic planning regarding gameplay style to accommodate different input methods. It's easier to 'scale-up' than 'scale-down' which is why we are targeting mobile devices first.
I always thought it was the other way around. Easier to scale down than scale up..?

Speaking of donation-based projects, what is the current status of this one?

Has there been any project like completely ripping off and improving, say Jagged Alliance 2, and giving it a different name. That's about the only genre I see missing so far?
