I played around with Requiem yes, it's exactly as it is.
You can't just play an archer and expect the sneak attack x2 will solve every issue.
That's when I start using spark and went magic user route.

But in Skyre, I ran Expert and found these two to be quite a challenge for lvl 15 character.
It's not as hard as Requiem, but I found the perks to be interesting to explore.

Given the type of game TES wants to be, making every fight dangerous no matter your level is the best approach, because fighting and walking around is all there is (so might as well make it interesting).
But how do you accomplish this? If only there was some way to make it so players always face level-appropriate enemies...
:troll:
Actually Requiem seems pretty good at it.

You can grow pretty powerful, being able to plow through entire fortified camps of bandits with little effort, but grow careless and let one flank you and get in a good blow with a 2h axe and bam! dead.

That skill is overpowered in any shape or form. Even without a single perk invested.
Doesn't Requiem force 0 magnitude, duration and value on player made potions if you don't have any perks invested?

Good to know that.
Still wish it's better refined.

Faced two Dwemer Centurion just now. Good thing Lydia was around. Each of us took one.
Had to quaff 4-5 healing potions blocking and outlasting it. Got a whole Dwemer set from there and hauled ass cause pots are running low.
Is this in Requiem or SkyRe? I only played Requiem and fighting a Dwemer Centurion there with my archer was futile, all hits would make a clank sound and his HP wouldn't move an inch. Readme says he is weak to electricity which i don't have.:(
Well, it's not fucking Avatar.

You're shooting a fucking bow at a steampunk mecha that probably have several times thicker plating than anything wearable by a man. How do you expect to deal damage?

Don't all the skyrim fans complain about how Alchemy is the hardest to level? Did they make it easier in requiem/skyrim redone?

I guess they were talking about how alchemy exp is tied to value, and at the time smithing wasn't.

How would you combat something like this though? I guess making experience diminish with repeated use of the same formula?

Does bludgeoning even work on them?

Yep, I can confirm that. It doesn't level the skill either.
True however

Requiem's readme said:
- Without at least one perk in Alchemy, your character's selfmade potions will be very weak. This does not apply to Argonians, Wood Elves, Bretons and High Elves and Dark Elves.

Well i also tried hitting it with an ebony axe, barely made a dent. I also had a staff of lighting, no effect.

I think only bludgeoning damage works cause the latter bypass armor somewhat. Just not effective vs undead.

Yes, unless you are a high elf (similar to how khajiit can pickpocket and lockpick simple locks without investing a point into the relevant perks).

edit: like borelli said, it applies to some other races as well. Meh.

I guess they were talking about how alchemy exp is tied to value, and at the time smithing wasn't.

I'd make it so you need recipes to make anything more complicated than the simplest "Mom's health/magicka/stamina recovery potion" that every peasant knows about. The recipes are already sold by alchemists and sometimes found in loot, but are currently pointless because you can simply throw a bunch of shit into a bottle and automatically know what it does. Which raises the question, how did you find out that liquid you just concocted is a deadly venom? Did you take a sip? But...

Later on the game, when you are a master alchemist yourself, you'd gain the ability to "make your own recipes", that is, you can now mix stuff without a recipe handy because you are now experienced enough to deduce what would happen if you mix this with that.

Well, that's a shame because it does a bunch of other nice things. But isn't it a good thing when skills are relevant...?

edit: hmm, Requiem lets you bash simple locks. Didn't remember that. But even if it didn't, you could just install a separate mod that does just that. I think it's kind of silly because if you aren't playing as someone who knows how to pick locks, you should reap the benefits of knowing how to pick locks. C&C biatch

What I did was hire the assassin in Whiterun for a small fortune, and ask her to pick locks for me (up to expert). Master chests are out of bounds, at least until/if I find someone/something that lets me get into them...

Not when you have to compromise your worlds consistency to make them relevant, thats just shitty design. you could make it as if breaking a chest alerts the creatures of the dungeon, and they get some kind of buff or call more friends, prepare an ambush, lay more traps, shit that isnt that hard, then you are keeping the skill relevant.

You should be able to take down doors too, such a :decline: i thought this shit was solved in fallout years ago. Yet we find wooden doors that can take more punishment than a fucking goliath.

Lockpicking shouldn't be its own skill in the first place. Make an engineering tree with broader applications and make lockpicking a subset of that.

Probably tie Lockpicking with Blacksmithy. That makes quite a bit of sense actually.
And yes, the more HP you have, the more likely you can bash locks.
I didn't even bother lockpicking anything and just break up to adept locks.
Experts and above gets ignored. No big deal, considering most dungeon chest reward at the end is not even locked.

I was a long time Skyre player, that recently switched to Requiem. Requiem is much better. It takes some getting used to, but the difficulty is actually there (I never had issues in Skyre, ever), and as I am leveling I am not finding hp bloat to be an issue (as long as I use the right tools for the job at hand). I found that what was gained (an actually dangerous world, where I needed to be careful and think about what kinds of enemies I would find and bring appropriate gear) was worth much more (to me at least) than what was lost (some very nifty perks are in those perk trees, but they ultimately feel kinda superfluous in retrospect with the world not being that dangerous).

Speaking of Requiem and alchemy - how much health is needed to be able to survive chewing on vampire dust? (and can you get some nasty itchy diseases like vampirism form it?)
I like the modifying body perks, though, even if I'd prefer alchemy to be like 'real life', e.g. trying to find means of changing lead into gold, instead of just mass producing potions.

You can turn off the perk requirement for lockpicking in the mod menu, same with pickpocket and alchemy. A lot of Requiem's features are toggleable.

Which is another reason I like it. You can adjust so much of it, in game, to feel right for you.

Well, running out of excuses to try it, and if you guys say the perks dont matter that much in the end. Even if i feel they do ill just give it the benefit of the doubt.
