Don't forget SkyTweak can tune even more of Requiem's changes that it doesn't list in its own settings.

I would personally tie pickpocketing to sneak.
thats what SkyRe did.
It also created a whole tree for travelers that goes into perks that allow you to resist cold poison and diseases better, with a lore branch to gain benefits against creatures you know and unlock regional crafting for armors and weapons of different places. Pretty neat shit.

Id love to play requiem, but skyre does perks too well for me to want to swich around. Guess its a matter of time before someone makes them compatible.

I was a long time Skyre player, that recently switched to Requiem. Requiem is much better. It takes some getting used to, but the difficulty is actually there (I never had issues in Skyre, ever), and as I am leveling I am not finding hp bloat to be an issue (as long as I use the right tools for the job at hand).

What about endgame?

Not that far yet, but not sure if it really matters because nothing is leveled to you (I don't think). It was like a couple weeks ago that I switched and I have been progressing very slowly so far. I am at 20 right now and I still have to be careful with lots of enemies. The only really bloated enemies I have encountered have been dragons (and that may just be me not using appropriate weapons against them, also note that the only successfully slain dragon was the one outside of Whiterun that was story related).

Everything else has been a matter of right tools for the job. No fire? Don't fight trolls and spriggans on your own(they will probably regenerate faster than you can bring them down and thus ruin your day). No silver? Don't fight powerful undead (high-tier draugr and almost all vampires). No mace/crossbow? Heavily armored opponents will be tougher to drop and might cause you trouble.

There isn't any appropriate weapons against them aside from using high level attack skill and weapons.
The only thing that made Whiterun dragon possible to beat was Irileth and her invulnerable guards.

Well, that and the fact you can hide inside the tower. Unlike Alduin, it never occurs to mirmulnir to stick his head inside the doors/holes and burn anyone standing in front of them (RIP random stormcloak from the tutorial)

HP bloat is pretty nasty on high level Reqiuem things. I can kill all lesser foes in under 3 swings, but dragons and daedra takes dozens, as do larger Dwemer stuff. Even my companion 2 handing a daedric warhammer I found doesn't really dent that much HP and even when playing as a mage my damage wasn't enough.

Maybe when I upgrade my weapon to a chaos stalhrim or daedric it will do better (but I need to find a damn ebony book for that).

So is this game fun to play yet? I remember when it first came out I played it until to the lycanthropes at the beginning, did the first dungeon, saw the shit level design and got bored by the soulless thing they called a RPG. Any of those changed so far?

How well do Ely's Uncapper and Character Creation Overhaul work with Requiem? I've been using them with SkyRe, but I don't now how well they synergise with Requiem.

Instant Potions:
Instant potions such as restore Health, Magicka, Stamina don't increase your toxicity since they have no duration.
But if you are just 1 toxicity away from an overdose when you drink an instant potion, you will still overdose.

???????????
This mod isn't gonna be compatible with most overhauls.

why not? that toxicity is there for as long as the potion lasts, potions with duration like heal overtime potions will give you 1 toxicity point but ill take it away as soon as you get out of the inventory.
What this mods does is limits potion stacking, so you can stack a max of X amount of potion effects at the same time or youll overdose and lose all of the effects plus get a penalty.

Potion stacking can get pretty silly, even if they are not instant stacking 10 healing potions can make you outlast anything, and crafting them is so easy that you can afford to do it.

at least i believe thats what it does.

Also, they come with a cooldown.

I duno, I just finished Level 40 warrior orc run. It devolved into sneak attack bows making melee seems an afterthough. Not to mention I put 0 perk in Stealth, clad in full dragonbone and still garnering sneak attacks.
There's no arrow resistant monster here, and I think the overhaul didn't address it.

Well, I've never played Skyrim before and with Requiem it is surprisingly a lot of fun, mainly because it makes exploring quite dangerous. However, it does reveal how silly the plot can be all its glory, throwing enemies like dragons at a beginner character (which can fry you to a crisp even in the tutorial), or getting a 'kill a master vampire if you want to join' from the companions, when a wolf can still chew you to pieces (they could have just said they don't want naked necromancers in their club :().

Didn't finish storyline. Just found that the game devolved into the all too familiar archer's game from vanilla.

This looks interesting. Out of curiosity, made a compatibility patch for Requiem, if anyone wants to try it out: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ltcl5x
Quick-tested with a fresh character and it seems to work well. Dunno how it will react to loading an old save, since the mod replaces the Alchemy perk tree; wouldn't recommend.

Load order:
Vile Concoctions.esp
Requiem.esp (and any other Requiem patches, like Hearthfire/Dragonborn)
VileConcoctions_Requiem_Patch.esp

I don't know about the compatibility of the former, but it goes against the spirit of Requiem - Requiem is very focused on making your build matter and unlimited supply of perk points would break that.
Requiem even nerfs beth's own silly legendary skill system - you can redistribute assigned perks once per mastered skill, but it no longer resets skill.

The latter looks like it's going to be incompatible - "game crashes to desktop on startup" or, at best "everything is a horrible fucking mess and game can't be played" incompatible.

Requiem does try to keep you from meeting dragons as a beginner, the "noob dungeon" of Bleak Falls Barrow is filled with strong draugr to convince you to hightail and get stronger before starting the main quest. Shame that isn't communicated very well and people interpret it as "they expect me to kill draugr rapelords at level 3, wtf?".

The companions requisite does sound silly, though. If I can go around killing master vampires just to make a point about my strength, I wouldn't be knocking on a guildhall's door asking to be their mead boy, they'd come after me begging me to join.

Actually, both are compatible as per Requiem's readme.

I tried Requiem with and without Character Creation Overhaul and the difference is huge thanks to all the skill bonuses from specialisation and major skills selection. I don't know if Requiem overrode skill rates, though.

It seems best to go without either of them.

Edit: Also, is there a mod to remove the page turning animation when reading books? Searching Nexus isn't yielding anything.

Oh, that wasn't really criticism, since Requiem doesn't require you to beat that dragon (let a woman do all the work, as usual :)) and you can move forward with the plot anyway. The companion quest are random, I think, so it was very amusing to get this one.

Joining the companions at anytime other then the start is pretty damn amusing. They claim to have never heard of you or your deeds even if you have slain all the main evils of the game. And they still take you outside to see if you can even swing your one of a kind epic level weapon.

Bethesda can hire the same voice actors to deliver a handful of dialog that all means the same thing but can't be bothered to have a writer scribble down one or two lines in the script and have one of the self same actors just say "We know of you Dragonborn, welcome to the companions, here is something for you to do" Or have had the companions send you a letter asking you to join one you had some renown in the hold. But instead you get to blast through most of the quests which will bug out the Purity missions.

And speaking of the Purity missions. when is the unofficial patch team going to get those quests fixed ?.

Hell, what about the guy mumbling to himself about not using magic (which, by the way, is the only thing stopping from doing the companions as a pure mage. Thanks Bethesda!) when you offer to join?
