I did that...

Also did anyone else notice characters vocalizing the PC's name? Please tell me I'm not crazy. I could've sworn at some point someone said my character's name ("Liz") out loud in the game in a dialogue.

Yeah, there's like a list of names that the house robot from the beginning can say. Todd is on it, naturally. I fucked up by naming my character Alison instead of Allison, though.

Wasteland.
I'm not shocked that Melee Weapons/Unarmed are taking the backseat yet again, as not only they are limited to 3 tiers of melee mods, but also some of their iconic weapons have been nerfed fashionably, and gameplay wise, the biggest example is none other than the Deathclaw Gauntlet. Instead of wielding the awesome power of the Deathclaw and with it, the beautiful effects of a long reaching Unarmed weapon and massive limb crippling damage, you get something that looks like the three middle digits of the Deathclaw have been torn out, placed upon a leather strap and is now a Blade gauntlet 2.0, with the bone digits placed closer to the hand instead of further out, thus you can no longer get your nice abilities.

oh yes, and apparently, only your right hand will have the unarmed weapon...again...because apparently Bethesda can't fathom the fucking idea of raising BOTH hands with the weapons on.

So in the intro they showed, the entrance ot the vault is an elevator into a deep, narrow vertical shaft with the vault door at the bottom.
But when you open the door at the bottom of the shaft, you're still blinded by intense daylight.

I'm 9 hours in and am enjoying the game, sure the writing and story is not the strong point, but gunning enemies is great, and that is what this series is all about. Fallout series combat was always its strong point. Even in Fallout 1 and 2 combat was a main aspect.

When someone is underground 200 years i would expect and kind of natural light source be 'blinding' to a poor eye sight.

Bros, they're making a gazillion dollars. Deep breath and cope. Don't worry, though, InXile will be doing Fallout: New Orleans.

And if they repeat the same shit in the next game?

This either could be a wake up call for Beth to get their shit together or the date we'll be back on and chuckle over being the beginning of the end for them.

They're taking their fans BS tolerance for granted. It's allowed them to shit on their mod community for a decade and a half but in that and other matters the fanbase is showing fatigue.

What? Since when was combat the main aspect? In fallout 1&2 the main aspect was the interactivity with the communities you encountered along the way. Most of the time you had the choice to avoid combat and take the kiss ass approach or whatever skill check popped in the dialogue tree.
New Vegas also took this approach, you could avoid a lot of situations.

I don't care if you're being sarcastic. After lurking for years, this was the post that compelled me to make an account just so I could nominate you King Troll of the Internet. Even the most retarded Beth fanboy couldn't appreciate what you just posted. Shitposting or not, what you just said is so stupid the DSM VI should include a classification for the mental illness that compelled you to post it, even ironically. I would tell you to kill yourself but that would exempt you from the suffering you so readily deserve.

Watching a few streams including Phage my conclusion is they had no idea what they wanted to do with this game. It's worse than FO3 in the sense that they took time away from designing 'content,' places like Tenpenny Towers or Paradise Falls, to add this awful Minecraft component. I believe they said it wouldn't be a big part of the game and/or could largely be ignored. That's like when WoW developers said Garrisons wouldn't be a big part of WoD. I'm guessing around half the 'content' of this game is building these stupid bases... it's like all of these shitty early access survival games on Steam. Why is this part of an open world shooter?

Funny part to me if how shitty the walls and floor look. Why go to all the trouble of tearing down semi decent looking buildings to build this crap when you could just living in one?

It makes no sense whatsever. Any sane person would use a reasonably well preserved building and just maintain it instead trying to build something up from junk from the ground up.

I ran into a nest of raiders and found that it was a bit of a challenge to take them all on. Lucky for me, I didnt have to plan an attack strategy or something like that. I just went home and got into my walking tank armor that the game gave to me 10 mins after starting. Oh and they gave me a freaking minigun aswell. They didnt stand a chance.

Almost had to do some thinking there!

This reminds me of playing Doom with cheatcodes back in the day

I don't get your point.

"I encountered a challenge, and instead of trying find a solution that didn't require the I Win Button they provided, I just went and used the I Win Button and am bitching about it now."

Fallout 4 is the first game in history to dethrone dota from 1st place on steam. :salute:

Todd you are a king, not even GTA V managed this, Gaben is yours.

That's weird because CS:GO was ahead of Dota 2 just last night when I checked. Well, I guess you launching Fallout 4 was the start of life as we know it.

If this is the trend, then maybe for Elder Scrolls VI we can expect a decent Severance: Blade of Darkness successor?

It plays like a really shitty FPS instead of one of the worst FPS ever made. Hardly an improvement, but an improvement nonetheless. I guess.

Any sane community 200 years after the war would have torn down most of the old shit which is unusable after being exposed to the blast from an atomic bomb and decades of weather without maintenance and just build something new with new materials. Something new that actually looks like it.

I get it, it's post apoc and shit, but still, it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief to accept that even after 200+ years all the people still live in shoddy sheds made from old junk or pre-war buildings that still contain the old wallpapers and furniture without any attempt at renovating at least some of it.
It would work 20 years after the war, maybe 50. But 200? After that time I would expect that from the outcasts and poor of the post-apoc society, not frigging everyone.
The devs in FO2 at least attempted to make it somewhat plausible - Vault City proper and Arroyo looked reasonably clean and new, as I would expect from their relatively organized societies.
But sadly even Obsidian forgot about that when they made New Vegas. FFS, even in New Vegas the NCR is obviously incapable of bringing along some fresh paint.
