Deathclaws apparently are gimmicky as well, as they seem to not only have an exploitable AI (some dipshit in Bethesda thought giving the Deathclaws an action that procs from damage was a good idea. See, the apparently, when firing upon the Deathclaw, it has a chance to us a 'dodge' animation, or bob and weave to the left or right, depending on where the projectiles are coming from. Might seem good on paper, until it's tested out by someone with an automatic weapon, such as a minigun, to which you can see hilarious results ensue: People forcing Deathclaws unintentionally to bump into obstacles as they dodge into them, one made the Deathclaw dodge into the very pit it came out of during the Power Armor fight scene, making it a joke), but they also have an insta-kill function. If the player is not in power armor, the Deathclaw has a chance of using a grab animation that kills the player instantly, no matter how much health the player has. Pretty much an unfair gimmick, and makes Unarmed/Melee playstyles nearly useless.

So when you talk to Father, he tells you that you thought 10 years had passed since he was kidnapped, for you apparently thought he was a young boy. How does that work? Could the protagonist see everything while in cryogenic stasis for 200 years? Did they wake up for 10 seconds at the worst possible time, watch their spouse being shot and their son taken, and then go back to sleep for a couple more decades?

Bad game or not, this kind of move IS a dick move. It will not discourage Bethesda either, their merchandises are bought after all, one way or another.

Because Steam review is still glowingly good. Buy the game. Play it <2hours. Nuke the review. Join the good fight? :D

To be honest, what exactly did you expect?

Fallout 3 and especially Skyrim brought an incredible high amount of attention to open world games made by Bethesda. People who played and especially liked these two games mentioned before will be completely content with Fallout 4's content since they didn't grow up in a time where RPG's actually WERE RPG's and not just Borderland-esque shooters who want to be more and more cinematic. They wanted Skyrim with guns and (probably?) got Skyrim with guns.

Watching a few streams including Phage my conclusion is they had no idea what they wanted to do with this game. It's worse than FO3 in the sense that they took time away from designing 'content,' places like Tenpenny Towers or Paradise Falls, to add this awful Minecraft component. I believe they said it wouldn't be a big part of the game and/or could largely be ignored. That's like when WoW developers said Garrisons wouldn't be a big part of WoD. I'm guessing around half the 'content' of this game is building these stupid bases... it's like all of these shitty early access survival games on Steam. Why is this part of an open world shooter?

I asked the same thing myself along with other hardcore fans and they all said the same thing: They have no fucking clue where this demand came from, as the only popular mod that was about building a base (But never did it in such a fucking grinding fashion) was the Wasteland Defender mod, but hell, even they did it in a decent, entertaining fashion. FO4's version is overall sloppy, slow, tedious, and overall boring. You can't even make a nice house for yourself, as even the walls looked like shit.

and the crafting, dear game gods, the crafting. They must've seen the memes all across the web and said "OH OUR PLAYERS LOVE TO HOARD SHIT? WELL LET'S EXPLOIT THIS ISSUE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT!"

If I had to guess it's because some of the DLC will be 'furniture packs' and such for the bases. Easy way to get $10-15 from suckers without actually designing anything new.

Todd lied (in other news, water is wet) when he said the building shit was completely optional. In the main quest if you ask the Railroad for help, you have to use it to assemble a teleporter (!). It's a colossal pain in the fucking dick and I can't see even the most retarded fanboy playing around with it by choice.

jeez that actually feels painful to look at, it must've been a living hell trying to get that all set up, and I bet snapping the walls in the corner sections were a real bitch. So how many hours did you wasted in trying to grab enough wood to make that?

About 3 hours in. To me it is an Ok-ish post apoc FPS, certainly not an RPG of course. Bethesda should just drop the RPG aspects completely, its meaningless. I like it a bit better than FO3, as an "open world" not nearly as good as TW3 (but i like postapoc settings better...). Story is laughable, quests are insanely retarded and look like they were thought up in the 90s when it was maybe exciting to do fetch quests, dialogue is shit. Why still play it? I like any post apoc game and the combat is relatively good. Also the familiar glitches and bugs provide entertainment. The Idiot Savant perk seems to have the potential to be overpowered, i believe it can trigger on quest XP, so i already gained 2 levels at once at one occasion.

Gfx are pretty good (disclaimer, my eyesight is shit) when in motion, and can be run on a midrange machine (i5 4670, gtx 760). I made a vid earlier and with recording software active i get around 40-60 fps (settings on high except shadows medium and godrays low).

Playing a melee guy on Survival is a decent challenge. As for the Deathclaw: The Concord Deathclaw was dead before i got a shot in (melee-ing this guy proved impossible on survival). I actually rechecked the difficulty after that. Probably bugged.

I ran into a nest of raiders and found that it was a bit of a challenge to take them all on. Lucky for me, I didnt have to plan an attack strategy or something like that. I just went home and got into my walking tank armor that the game gave to me 10 mins after starting. Oh and they gave me a freaking minigun aswell. They didnt stand a chance.

Almost had to do some thinking there!

This reminds me of playing Doom with cheatcodes back in the day

Actually if I have a positive thing to say is that the shooting feels much better now, actually decent/good if you do the ini tweaks before playing the game. There's your Bethesda RPG: the RPG mechanics either don't exist or are shit, but the shooting feels pretty good.

Alright, so after showing no emotions at all after seeing the everything turned in to a wasteland, getting my spouse killed and my son abducted in a span of about 20 minutes (for the PC), I walk around and find two raiders threatening some people in a gas station. Naturally I walk up, and, with an easy persuade check (which apparently now always uses Charisma, because there just aren't any other stats that could apply to this) I get them to sheathe their weapons. After that, I convince them with a 'orange' Charisma check to give me all their bottle caps (because intimidation and Charisma are totally the same, right?). They do, and now I get a hard check to tell them to go away, which I fail, and they attack me. Apparently it's easier to get them to put their guns away AND GIVE ME ALL THEIR MONEY than it is to tell them to fuck off.
This game is astounding in its stupidity.

Also, are there even any other dialogue checks than Charisma? Like, is Int just useless now, especially because I can get the bonus XP from the Luck perk?

If this is the trend, then maybe for Elder Scrolls VI we can expect a decent Severance: Blade of Darkness successor?

From what i've heard Bethesda pass to develop fps shooting mechanics to someone from IDsoft or Bungie. So actually that good part is not they merit :D
