Infamous Quests
Gah. Who knows. I'm holding a Kickstarter with a $1.5 million dollar goal to make a 3D version of Quest For Infamy.

The Jane Jensen KS was for more than one game, IIRC.Wouldn't a kickstarter to fund a remake of the original make more for them rather than this? Or just saying if this sells well after it's finished they could fund a remake of the original? I've just never seen a crowdfunding campaign on any website that tries to sell you multiple games for one pledge that has gone well.

It really is blackmail. The Longest Journey Home will pick up right where The Longest Journey left off, filling in the 10-year gap unaccounted for in Dreamfall. But it will also extend beyond Dreamfall Chapters and conclude April’s adventure. And that comes as good news to the players that have been so invested in her fate over the last dozen years. April’s a special character, in part because she’s sometimes so--ordinary. As Tørnquist says, “She didn't feel like your typical game heroine: she felt like an actual person, like someone you might know. Someone you'd want to know. She had flaws, she was insecure, she struggled with her newfound powers and her destiny. She had doubts, she was close to giving up, but didn't. She had […] humanity. She had a soul.”
This. Give us another million dollars, or we we abort the April Ryan storyline, MWHAHAHAHA. Who knows, we may even kill her!It really is blackmail.
They are impying that if you send them more money they will try to make a completely different game happen. If it will work out. Maybe. It's the same principle as when morons were claiming that supporting FO: POS will assure that Van Buren would be made. Guess what we got? That's right, FO: POS2.Yes, making a whole new game, and asking for additional fund for that is blackmail. They will make another game for that additional funding FFS! You are really this retarded? You are a bunch of retarded faggots, who can't even read, and start to yell decline about every news. They didn't say that they had 10 additional hours of gameplay and April's storyline in Dreamfall Chapters, and they won't do it if they don't reach 2 million. They said that they will make a new game!!! How is that different from other kickstarters, where they ask for more money for additional storylines in games,
The Codex really went nuts in the last few monhts. People just shout betrayal for every little thing, about every detail that they didn't like. Sometimes they don't even comprehend what others say (like in this case).
Are you a fucking retarded? Some codexers explicitly said they's fund it if it were a separate kickstarter. How does this qualify as not knowing video games need funding? Pull your head out of your ass. It is that people (codexers?) want their money to go to to the proper 2d adventure game and not to a shitty console abomination, not that they are entitled to games.Codexers don't realize that you can't make a video game without funding. If the developers can't convince a publisher to fund their adventure series, because their adventure series is heavily plot-driven and unlikely to generate much revenue off the brain-dead consoletard public, they are faced with two options - give up on making sequels, or turn to charity as a source of funding.
Codexers will have you believe that saying "If you give us two million, we will have enough money to produce not one, but two sequels to this series" is a form of blackmail. In other words, Codexers believe that the developers are obliged to providing them a video game they want, whether they have enough finances for it, or not. Codexers believe they are entitled to a video game that hasn't even been created yet. That is what holding something hostage means - you have a game, but you won't give it to anyone unless they satisfy your requirements.
Isn't every high level stretchgoal of every kickstarter the same? Devs usually put an unreachable level at the end, which might urge some people to pledge more.Give me a break. It is clear that the game will not make 1 more million in such short time and this is another marketing trick to manipulate hardcore fans into giving more money, hoping to eventually get a proper adventure game. If they really wanted to make another game, they would have done another kickstarter. This is clearly not about making a second game but for milking fans to the last dollar. Emotionally manipulating people in such way is just ugly.
Most of the 2 million WILL go to Chapters. But they will have enough money to start preproduction of TLJ2.What guarantee do we have that this would not be a show 4 hour tribute and the rest of the 2 million would not go to making Capters?
No, I'm not a Codexer, therefore I'm not fucking retarded. Read what the developer actually has to say about the project:Are you a fucking retarded? Some codexers explicitly said they's fund it if it were a separate kickstarter. How does this qualify as not knowing video games need funding? Pull your head out of your ass. It is that people (codexers?) want their money to go to to the proper 2d adventure game and not to a shitty console abomination, not that they are entitled to games.
What guarantee do we have that this would not be a show 4 hour tribute and the rest of the 2 million would not go to making Capters? None. And that is if the 2 million are met at all. Why should people who want TLJ: Home have to contribute to the shitty Chapters? This is just an immoral attempt to emotionally manipulate fans and nothing more.
With the $2 million, however, we can begin writing, designing and creating concepts and background art for TLJH in preparation for full production. In other words, we will be greenlighting pre-production on the 2D sequel to The Longest Journey, making sure everything is in place for when we have the capacity to move forward with the game.
The $2 million won't cover the production costs of both games, far from it, and the bulk of the money will still go to making Dreamfall Chapters as deep, rich, immersive and rewarding as possible. But pre-production work will begin on TLJH before Chapters is released -- if, that is, we reach our stretch goal.
Have you read that, retard? Have you read the statement, instead of your feverish dork fantasies?Regarding rewards: TLJH is a stretch goal, and the $2 million will NOT cover production costs on the game. While TLJH will be cheaper to produce than Dreamfall Chapters, that money will only be able to get us so far in terms of early pre-production and design work, and we will need to raise additional funding for TLJH if and when the game enters production.
You are an imbecile of imbeciles who can't read black letters on a white background forming simple words in the English language, joint by punctuation marks. Read, now:What guarantee do we have that this would not be a show 4 hour tribute and the rest of the 2 million would not go to making Capters? None.

I don't agree. They are doing this for those who loved both Dreamfall and TLJ. Because this money will help th sequel of both of them. They're doing this to make everybody who hated Dreamfall donate to it anyways in the hopes of getting a 2D game.
But they explicitly say that they won't use that tiny amount of money from the 2 million to make the 2D game. They will just start pre-production, thus helping the development of their next game. Most of the 2 million will go to Chapters.

Because it is abysmally moronic to make a Kickstarter for a project that won't enter the production phase for years, during which the studio will be busy with a different game? Why not make two Kickstarters then?
Wait for Red Thread Games to finish developing Dreamfall Chapters, and donate to TLJ2 once it enters the production phase. If you donate to Dreamfall Chapters today, TLJ2 will enter production sooner, because the pre--production will be completed by the time of Dreamfall Chapter release. Oh, what are you supposed to do if you don't want Dreamfall Chapters to be made, period? Soaping up the rope should do the trick. What do you do if you don't want Dreamfall but do want TLJH?
They are a new, small company, do you really think they will run 2 kickstarters simultaniously? If you want TLJ2, wait until they finish Chapters. They said that TLJ2 WILL happen. It will just happen sooner if they reach 2 million sooner, because they will have some money to use on pre-production. Why is this so hard to comprehend? But they explicitly say that they won't use that tiny amount of money from the 2 million to make the 2D game. Bull-to-the-motherfucking-shit. Why not make two Kickstarters then? Riddle me that, you fucking apologist. What do you do if you don't want Dreamfall but do want TLJH? Nothing. 'cause they don't leave you no way. And seeing as how it's extremely unlikely they're going to 2 mil, even if you were right and they were totally going to use every cent of the 500.000 above 1.5 mill for TLJH, they're probably not gonna make it to 2 mil anyway.
