Also, with all the talk about whales, they really should have had a level that took place in a giant whale carcass

Uh... Did you play blindfolded? There is one at third last mission.

Also, did anyone manage to deduce what exactly (or who) was the heart of the living thing?
I got bored with it and stopped playing when the mid-game Bioshock "twist" of "surprise, they game should have ended, but it hasn't!" occurred.

The heart belonged to the empress. No hints are given as to where the watch parts welded to it came from.

Yeah, a grimdark twist. Dragon Age level of grimdark.

Your carry a soul of your girlfriend trapped in a heart so she can talk shit about people and places. What a terrible fate T_T

Alright, I don't want to read through 40+ pages just to get an idea about this games strengths and weaknesses. Can some of our more vocal prestigious members ( sea, JarlFrank, Haba, etc.) give me a pros and cons quick list? Still not sure what to think of this game and should I pay money for it? Is it modern day popamole or something better?

I'd pay 20 eurobucks for it.

+ Visual style
+ Some missions have multiple solutions
+ Hiding corpses/sleepers in weird places
+ Combat is kinda fun
+ No health regen (default), fragile player character
+ No health bloated enemies
+ World reacts to your actions, though often not in obvious ways
+ Characters are not annoying for the most part
+ Very few invisible walls, you can fuck around with blink quite a bit
+ Game doesn't hold your hand if you turn assists off

- Story is weak
- Sneaking is too easy and isn't penalized
- Combat is too costly
- Severals powers break the game
- Later missions are not too good
- Easy to fall into a pattern after mid game
- True ghosting doesn't make a difference
- Completely non-violent play-through doesn't make a difference
- Dated visuals

If Dishonored's followers take the core of the game and improve on it, without dumbing it down, I'd say well have pretty awesome games.

If you are even considering it then 20 euros is nothing for you, just buy it.

I wish I lived in a dream world too.

The whale's in the flooded district? That explains why I missed it, I was desperately trying to get out and stopped caring about exploring.

Every time I think about playing this game I just look at some pictures/videos and feel a bit nauseous and shake my head. I quite liked HR for what it is and this does look better. I don't know what it is. I'm doing the same with FiraXCom. I actually quite like some fast-food popamole from time to time. Or thought I did. Maybe I'm finally cured. Which is good, but makes me a bit sad :(
maybe you're just becoming sick of crap, unfun, dull games.

I don't think you can miss it. It's on the same place you find Granny Rags and Slackjaw.

It's probably related to past choices and/or chaos rating. Maybe it simply isn't there if you have played a certain way.

Just started a little bit ago. Only as far as the control room in the prison, but initial thoughts are: Clever but ultimately dumb and clunky console port for retards. Has possible ability to hold my attention for one or two more days but it'd eventually feel akin to eating nothing but junk food and I'll eventually probably put it down. Shame. Had more hope for this one.

Well, I ragequit after the prison myself, since it was so BSB. It gets better once you are out.

Maybe if you've missed the sidequests for rags/slack?

You can't reasonably judge the game based on the very beginning. The best levels in the game are the ones that come immediately after. It's okay, this game has tons of problems and I have no problem calling it out on them, but maybe take the time to play the game past the tutorial? You know, where the game is specifically designed to be simple so that players can learn its mechanics in a low-threat environment?

I was going to say something about judging Fallout 2 on the Temple of Trials alone, but then I realized that it was kind of indicative of a lot of the game's problems (rushed/derpy tone/inconsistent world design) so maybe that isn't the best comparison after all.

Can't believe how often idiots on the 'Dex judge games based on the tutorial levels. Proof that a lot of you faggots are just as, if not more, ADHD-ridden than the consoletards you are supposedly more :obviously: than.

Not to sound like a Dishonored apologist, I just see this happening a lot on these forums.

But in a lot of cases it doesn't. And stealthy, sandboxy 'immersive sim' (fuck i hate that term) games are especially prone to this.

I don't know when Dishonored is supposed to get good but I got bored after the first mission to kill the bald guy in red, I poisoned his drink. Such a boredom, but what can you expect from a game that gives you the best ability from the get-go. Even DEHR had better stealth because it didn't have fucking FREE TELEPORT.

Yeah, durr hurr. Would you like to tell me that the game's mechanics are suddenly going to become less clunky and the graphics less doofy because the tutorial is over? Because I played beyond the tutorial and surprisingly enough, it's the same fucking game. I'm not an idiot. I know what a fucking tutorial is.

EDIT: And sea, where did I say I was stopping because the tutorial sucked? I predicted, based on what little I'd played, that the game would hold my interest for a few more days. I'll let you know if I was wrong.
