Watch Dogs looks like hot air. But people get excited by superficial qualities, so it will probably be the next big popamole franchise.

Isn't this a jRPG?

The setting is generic and we have no idea how the game actually plays, so there isn't much to talk about other than how pretty the graphics are.

Yea but we are not in 2005 anymore. In-game gonna be the same.
Just look at Crysis 3 today even on a 8 year console.

Your ignore list.
Yea but we are not in 2005 anymore.

Well no shit. Tell that to the console developers.

In-game gonna be the same.

Yeah right, at 30 fps, hardly better than the usual 25fps CGI made my Blizzard in 2002 for WC3. And so far we've seen zero gameplay of that piece of shit called the PS4, only scripted cutscenes that look no different than what PC Mark has been doing since 2005.

Just look at Crysis 3 today even on a 8 year console.

Still worse than Crysis 1, and with shitier textures than 9 years old HL2. Also, much worse than HL2 as well.

I fucking LOVE the little pretend HUD.

And that was shoped in, because those gifs are from the trailer.

Actual game won't have those blur and selective focus effects you see in the top image. They give it away as the staged promo video it is. Although I can see the in game character model reaching this target. Look closely at his back when he attacks the dragon. If you ignore the focus tricks, motion blur, and lens flare, you can see the model itself is comparable to the RE5 character models, in terms of detail, texture, and modeling. DD is an obvious step up, but it also benefits from the more sophisticated implementation of lighting and reflective surfaces, which would push any good current gen model up a couple of notches.

Better reflective surfaces looks to be the next 'leap, ' instead of increasing polys exponentially. It's the same thing with the Metal Gear: Ground Zeroes. The texture work in the MG trailer actually isn't that hot, and the number of polygons might not be much higher than MGS4, but the better reflective model (or whatever you call it. I don't know all the official terms) makes it look more advanced than current gen.

Nah... I still think it's a tech demo for their new engine running on the PS4. DoF, shading and lighting are not that perfect to be CGI, plus too much jerking off to dynamic particle effects like fire (something they didn't had on PS3).
Not that means it'll be like that on release. Anyone remember Metal Gear Solid 4?

Those effects don't have to be good enough to look like CGI, they only have to be good enough to pass a CGI demo off as gameplay.

Doesn't mean it's not a tech demo though.

I remember MGS4. And Killzone 2. And people still haven't learned that in-game tech massaged into what is basically a promotional film is not going to look exactly the same as in-game tech massaged into a game. The game companies aren't lying, but they're not going to get up there with a shitty machinima video when a 5 min movie lets them push the tech further in certain aspects.

Am i the only one who thinks the game title "deep down" are more suited to porn?

Except STALKER's lighting isn't advanced enough to make everything look like it's coated in grease like new gen.

I'm sure many morons will rush off to by a PS4 to experience this never before seen realistic graphics shown in this carefully constructed and presented "tech demo" and finally get a game that looks like a PS3 game with Anti-aliasing (if they manage to make it work correctly this time).

Of course it will still look much worse than Crysis 1 in PC in full detail.

I need to start the 'anti-social media' trend.

:bro:, but you must realize social gaming is as anti-social as it can be. While so many people out there seem to think they'll meet their new fiancées and best friends over the net, they are actually just going to be insulted by CoD teens.

Just a quick remark. Killzone 2 was indeed CGI, MGS4 on the other hand was actually real footage that in the end got dumbed down (less lighting effects, less dust, more "washed out" visuals).

I don't see the point of arguing whether it's CGI, in-game, or a tech demo. The real problem with that video is the obvious heavy use of canned motion capture animations which already tells you the real game will look nothing like that.

I was watching an LP of Resident Evil 6 and there are really a huge amount of little contextual animations that join up pretty smoothly. I imagine something like the scene where the sword and board guy does a "stumbling stop" thing (which really jumped out at me as obvious canned mocap) could be done contextually (e.g. by going too quickly from full movement analog stick forward to full analog back). But I don't actually play any AAA OTS view games that need good animation like that so I dunno if Capcom has a leg up tech-wise or anything.

Trailer looked cool, but I wouldn't expect much from this. Capcom has lost all of their best developer talent, the chance of this or any other new games from them being worth a damn is pretty low now.
