I haven't played since the new alpha came out. What's wrong with it? Is it game balancing issues from the latest alpha or technical problems from the arma beta patches?

Tent bug, Graphical artifacts still haven't been addressed, zombies are beyond harmless, complaints on hackers keep rising. And the forums have turned into a pissing match since the mods are full-steam ahead on the standalone.

I understand all the work they're doing but the game has become unplayable for a large portion of the fan-base.

Bummer. Just got my mic fixed and was going to update. Oh well, at least the base game is keeping me busy.

Yeah... Axes ruin the thing, definitely. And, while zombies are not a prime source of danger much longer, people are much more willing to start shooting to the other "survivors". We they change so stressful, so hostile environment to much more comfort and easy and well know one? PvP... eh. Shame a bit.

I installed the latest beta (96061) and alpha (1.7.2.5) and didn't notice any difference. I went to a couple of our bases on two different servers and there was a bunch of stuff there, in fact I unloaded a few wheels and some fuel tanks.

I did attract a few zombies and got clipped pretty hard and bled out but that's because I didn't realize I was using a wimpy silenced sub machine gun. I did get away though, it's pretty easy to lose them in the bushes, like last alpha.

Luckily I had food and bandages on me, in fact my inventory was maxed out. I don't see a difference at this point in time but then again, I avoid humans anyways and don't hang out in high-kill zones or low difficulty packed servers. Maybe the hackers only like those ones. I have been hack-killed before but three times since the spring?

Not sure that I see anything different from a month ago. Zombies haven't been too deadly since the beginning when you could not lose them without running through a barn. Some of my best experiences back then but they can still kill you. Only ever used an axe a couple of times and it was effective.

:) Alright, first off, you shouldn't bother with restocking the tents. Everything in them gets reset to their previous state pre 1.7.2.4 with each server restart. So basically you have an endless supply of gear. The same goes for vehicle trunks.

If you go to any of the military areas with those dead soldier models or barbed wire, you'll most likely get insane graphics artifacts. If you're not one of the lucky few that aren't affected by the problem, you might fix it with flushing the vid memory ( shift + numpad enter and type: flush, or switch the video memory to default. If all else fails, restarting the client usually works.

Be careful when putting on a ghillie suit, as it may make your backpack disappear and give you the patrol pack instead.

Other than that it's all good.

If you want to play, I'll be on vent the entire day.

Well, that would explain why the tents still have stuff in them. If that's the case it sort of really does make the whole thing pointless.

I've never seen the graphical artifacts and realize that because I haven't experienced it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. I'm using an old ATI4870. I didn't go near barbed wire recently.

Ghillie's were bugged last patch as well, probably why I was wearing civies for so long.

I guess what I'm saying is that the game has been majorly bugged since I started playing it, and if it's worse at the moment, I don't care. I'd like to say that it was the best three months of gaming I've had in almost seven years. I am a little burnt out on it at the moment though. Not a big deal.

I'll go for a run with you if you get on vent.

I doubt a patch is coming out soon and I don't blame them, they can build it properly now. I got several hundred hours out of it. It was fun while it lasted. I hate to say it, but it looks like it is abandoned and has moved on. Most of us veterans know that. Not a big deal.

Darklife, I'm a late nighter, you might have a better chance hooking up with Babitz or Kraze in Arma since you actually wake up in the morning.

And really, Arma is a fucking awesome game. Awesome I tell you, if it's your thing. Logon in the wee hours of the morning. You might find some russians to show you the ropes. Or drag you through them.

they are morons though for killing their own positive momentum with something as utterly stupid and inconsequential as ingame models who do not affect gameplay in any way to create game destroying artifacts for 5 weeks. with the stand alone coming obviously the resources will go there.. but killing of your own mod with graphical bugs that a simple rollback could have fixed is baffling.

That's too bad, I really enjoyed DayZ in the beginning. Sad to hear they fucked it up and are now abandoning it for some vague "stand-alone" that will be ready who knows when. People are too greedy these days. It used to be the mods were made for fun.

once 1.7.3 hits ill play it again. and also i will buy the stand alone, the mod is far too hampered by arma 2 restrictions.. it's just weird behaviour from the dev team. standalone should be released this year still they say.

I tried playing on a private hive yesterday and I gotta say that it was a very positive experience. Within 5 mins of dicking around Cherno, me and my friend were picked up by a party bus, which headed to NWAF through Zelenogorsk. Once there we all got kitted out in like 5 mins, then found an almost working heli. Our plans of dominating the sky were put to rest when some other heli crew gunned my buds down and me later, after I thought I disposed of them. Later we were continuously had to avoid patrolling helis in the sky and assasins in the night.

Things of note:

Lots more vehicles, people don't really hoard them.
Heli crashes are now actually on fire, pillar of smoke and all.
There is virtually no hacking.
You can't swear.

Did they implement those dogs yet? Can't wait for the inevitable bug that causes the dog to attack you instead of literally anything else.

Looks like there's a new update. It has a new choice of three UI's (that are buggy), bear traps on some zombies and fixed graphical glitches on dead bodies. Plus tents are supposedly working properly (like, again, for the ten millionth time).

Might check it out later this weekend if I'm not too absorbed with Arma.

I haven't looked into this at all but are private hives easy to find ? Do they show up in the server list just like the other servers or do you need to know people and have a password ? I won't play public anymore. There's just no point.

Most just pop up in the server browser and are enterable. Although I'd have to take back my glowing reccommendation. Last night we got trrown in the air three times and some guy shot at us with a minigun from his face. It's basically like an anarchic society on cocaine.

Very positive about new patch. tents are saving, tent placement is nearly everywhere and instant, and an emptied tent stays empty. vehicles save, loot saves, no graphical glitches (perhaps barbed wire but i haven't seen any)
