The problem is that Morrowind's combat is an unholy hybrid, which results in situations like the one Zed mentioned where two guys dance around each other for minutes, whiffing all their attacks, like a filler episode of Dragonball Z.

Anyway, I don't want to convince people who like it that they are not actually having fun, just my opinion m8

I just discovered that Morrowind Overhaul allows a macro to be set that toggles Daggerfall combat. Instead of walking in a specific direction you just drag a mouse in it when toggled.

Is there a scalable level for monsters or something? Almost everywhere I go, I get attacked by birds now.

My Short Sword is at 87 right now and I also found my first Daedric weapon (Wakizashi which is a short sword) in a shipwreck somewhere southeast I think, Found it by chance so I was pretty happy with it.

Been spending most of my money on training alchemy and some on raising disposition and I am thinking of ceasing alchemy training and switching to Conjuration training. I also love the promotion system with the guilds. If you lack skills, attributes or didn't do enough work you are stuck until you do. I hated how when I played as a thief in Skyrim I was able to become the head of the Mages College barely knowing a couple of spells.

Never bothered me, but like I said both methods have their faults and appeal.

I think the "cliffracer is hurt" and "cliffracer is dead" sound effects are burned deep into the root of my brain.

Always been my hang up about Morrowind -- even without 'exploiting' things eventually the challenge just stops. It's still fun to explore but without the risk the rewards feel hollow. My interest always wanes before I do Bloodmoon/Tribunal content.
No worries, if you do Tribunal and Bloodmoon content, the rape will return. Not always in a good way, but it will be there.
:troll:

How does GCD affect high level difficulty, BTW? I would imagine that with uncapping it's going to be easier.

Personally I use Adul's Advanced Combat for spicing up combat system. It's a simple and relatively modest mod (it also have rare but crippling clashes with GCD, so no GCD for me) that adds stuff like bleeding (after hits exceeding your END), stat drain at low HP, criticals and combat stances.

It makes combat deadlier because of the crits, and reduces attrition, so it's a big plus.

People shitting on Morrowind's combat don't appreciate classic combat ratings and RNG fun.
Last night I was on 2 millimeters of health up against some Daedra master-fucker at half HP. I had no potions, and my Sanctuary daily spell was on cooldown. I thought I was dead for sure, but I hit 3 heavy slashes with my sword, and he got down to a centimeter of health. For a minute, we were both just failing our weapons at each other, and I'm like "FUCKING HIT OH MY GOD." But he hit me... BLOCK! "YES NOW HIT HIM AAAAH" --- TURBOHIT, knocking him down on all four like a bitch leaving him with only a sliver of HP. So I just wildly flailed at him with instant-attacks and managed to kill him.
That shit was more exciting than any fucking Skyrim dragon or Oblivion shit.
I can't say I like MW combat, but it's built on sound basis and still managed to beat oblivious or unmodded Skyrim.

I have to say that it's a shame there is no Deadly Reflex for Skyrim. It was one of the more :nocountryforshitposters:things implemented for that ever

It was a very... creepy mod.

EDIT: indeed

Skyrim already has fatalities so a new Deadly Reflex isn't needed.

There's this, however.

There's some minor level scaling, but the birds are just part of the local wildlife and you have to put up with it. If it's any consolation, according to lore that guy that wakes you up at the beginning of the game will one day drive them to extinction.

So, Morrowind. My game is freezing when a skill increases, only happens if the .exe is Code Patched, the original .exe doesn't freeze. Can't find anything on google about that, any ideas anyone?

The code patcher has too many good stuff to not use it :\

Are you playing on a save made before you patched it? Some of the fixes are big enough that it might bug out with an existing character.

edit: also (real wild guess here) you might wanna run the code patch with Administrator rights, since you're changing an EXE file. No idea if it would affect anything, but might be worth a try. Maybe the changes are not being applied correctly, dunno.

Eh, seems like it's a mod that's not working with the patched exe. When I deactivate all of them I don't have the problem, I guess I'll have to start unchecking one by one to test.

Morrowind Overhaul adds so many esps, I think I'll just uninstall that, Morrowind graphics are amazing on their own anyway, just the graphic extender for distant view is enough.
