Finally trying http://www.darkstar.gs/ out. Had mixed reviews.

It's like the classic FMV point and click adventure games of years past. Found it on sale for like 5$ on GamersGate and thought what the hell.

fucking fucking fuckitty fuck, I bought the game Dark Star one.. which is a space sim, not the Dark Star adventure game. I suck at space sims dammit.

I started Mass Effect 1 a week ago since I haven't played it yet. I got iritated and annoyed after 3-4 hours, so I deleted it. But God damn that game won't make a fool of me, I will finish it, so I start it again on the weekend.

I've successfully wasted several days on Titan Quest, still has that annoying lag bug introduced by the expansion, but that aside it's pretty damn good.

I remember ditching it after going halfway with one char back when it first came out. Diablo 2 just felt miles better, and it had more randomized locations to boot.

Now, after all these years with no worthwile clone to speak of (Hellgate london sucked arse, Din's Curse was meh, Sacred 2 felt underdeveloped, Torchlight had annoying art direction and not enough variety) , TQ feels pretty good actually. The mythology flavoring plus nice attention to details here and there plus lots of class combinations to try.

It helps if you play several parallel characters to exchange stuff between them.
Overall balancing could be slightly better, could use more randomization in the levels, but it still is a neat time sink.

Nope. Can't be that. The graphics of the Aveyond series don't even come close to this game.

This is a screenshot from the newest Aveyond game.

Silent Hunter 4. What got me interested again was the LP of it available on the codex. Go read it, it's great.

I've been playing Left 4 Dead 2 and Section 8. I also bough the X-superbox recently but haven't tried them out yet and I tried out dungeon hack for the first time and that's been fun so far.

Ace Attorney Investigations (currently at case 4's start). It's much easier than the end of the Wright games, but a lot their hardness were the need for some really big leaps of logic (or needing to things in a unclear order), so this is a good thing for once.

The character based humor still seems to be there, which is the most important part. And unlike Apollo Justice, people seem to react to presenting evidence that isn't needed to progress the plot :incline: .

Divine Divinity, Divinity 2 DKS, Two Worlds 2, NWN 1(OC, EXP1, EXP2, MODS) with Tony K's AI.
With my current schedule I will finish these games by the end of June.

Yeah, the screen shot is from Avencast. I got it for $2.50 a long time ago but didn't really care for the combat mechanics -- overall the game felt clunky and I put it aside after 2-3 hours.

Now I think I waste more time playing the meta-game of scrutinizing Steam deals than I do playing the actual games. My 'to play' list is hopelessly backlogged.

It's a pretty cool game where you fight rabbits and wolfs after they have raped your wife and daughter and slain your village. It's just about kicking asses. I like the combat though and the general atmosphere is a bit psychedelic. There's a demo available (though I haven't played it because I didn't know about it, I just bought full version straight from the Steam) if you want to check it out. I think most of you will dislike that game but for me it was fun surprise. The campaign is short though, took me about 2.5 hours to finish it.

Unfortunately I don't have time to waste time on any game right now. :( Last game I played extensively was Demon's Souls (for which I bought a PS3). My rate of purchases has actually increased anti-proportionally to my available time to actually play games. Probably this is some feint hope that someday I'll have the time to play them. Actually, with the current job market there's a reasonable chance that once I'm 45 I'll be declared senile by all potential employers and left to rot in my 1 room apartment while leeching social security services. At least there's hope left. :D

Outside the games i'm doing Let's Play of the only one i have been wasting any time right now is Touhou Maze, also known as Labyrinth of Touhou. It's a kind of a very hardcore and abstract, given you play straight on the automap with no first person view or anything other than a combat screen and a bunch of menues and numbers to crunch, dungeon crawler that's brutal and nasty to the extreme, up to the point I'm getting party wipe after party wipe on the very first level.

Navigating the maze.
Patchouli Knowledge's character sheet at level 1.
Marisa Kirisame's character sheet at level 1.
An example of the game's dialogues.
The battle interface.

The dialogue and plot are the kind of fourth wall breaking, videogaming and dungeon crawling culture referencing stuff Doujin role playing games usually are, so the game feels you are actually playing a Touhou doujin or a Touhou fanfic. There are twenty levels to clear in the original game, and ten more on the extra disk, and quite a lot of the girls are to recruit, some as secret characters or only if you do certain things in certain order I have been told. The music is good and includes many arranges to ZUN's own compositions. The artwork for the girls is kind of hit and miss but you can mod your own portraits and character images if you want, or download them. Rinnosuke's artwork will make you tear your eyes out and scream, though.

It's a lot of fun if you are into good old dungeon crawling, but if you are a storyfag keep replaying Torment or something instead.

But I'll stick with 4HoL, Dark Spire and Uukrul for now, or else my head's gonna explode.
Where the hell do you find those cool obscure games, BC?

So in otherwords, just like the official Touhou games.

Also, I heard that the game, contrary to everything Touhou, has dodging be completely useless. True?

Yes, it's completely useless and I have yet to see them dodge anything at all, but the five initial character's Evasion (at least I think that's what eva is) is ultra low so maybe later it might become useful. However, the girls are also very fragile: Remilia has the most HP from among the five initial girls (remilia, sakuya, reimu, marisa, patchouli) and she gets killed in three strikes, four at most, if not under the effects of the Great Hakurei Barrier, which right now Reimu can cast only once or twice given her MP is very low. And most enemy groups right now are made up of three or four enemies... So there goes Remy in turn 1 if we don't manage to kill at least half the enemies on the first volley. Patchy actually has only 54 HP, total, so far, so she can be killed in a single strike if it comes down to her and the enemies (though once I had a party strike down everyone but her in a single turn and she saved the day with a Royal Flare, though then we had to go back to the base outside anyway because her asthma kicked in and she needed to rest :P) or if something gets a lucky strike to the last spot, to which the least physical damage is done, but to her it is still enough to leave her almost there.

And there's no revival inside the dungeons, only back at the base Gensokyo menu thingie. It's brutal, and awesome.

And I have been told you get Alice pretty soon so three witches party, all the way! :salute:

I mostly find my gaming going through abandonware catalogues, DS and PSP release lists, searching on Doujinstyle and similar Imageboards or Forums (though not 4ch, i'm not that brave), or the release list of the last Comiket and the like for anything that looks interesting, otherwise I'm out of games given dungeon crawlers, danmaku games, myst-like puzzlers, and artsy indie games are the only things I can play as of late without getting depressed and bored to death.
