Though not being certain of that is a biggest problem here imo. Why don't they properly communicate all the stuff they intend to put in the game. What? They're afraid there's gonna be a space warp that will only make it impossible to put in one smaller function in the game so they just keep shut about everything to not risk any bad rep later? Bah, stinks of typical corporate bullshit.

That's what Josh Sawyer is doing for Project Eternity. You can see the results for yourself.

Looks fantastic, except for the non-fixed camera and the ugliness of the GUI. I assume the latter will be fixed. Can't wait to play this.

Roguey seems pretty insane really. Probably just blown away that a modern developer can be so stupid as to have bashing and lockpicking in the same game, did they not read Sawyer's thoughts on the matter?
Stuff
Yeah okay. I was just having a laugh at Sawyer/Roguey's talk about bashing making lockpicking, as they can overlap. Apparently that is a waste of time or something.

Both approaches have their own ups and downs.

I prefer Obsidian one.
These pages on dex are mostly internal arguing and bickering over personal misunderstandings and shit anyway.
And i doubt any devs are reading that in great details or getting worried about it.

Besides, by being open and listening to feedback, Obsidian already adapted or changed some stuff that might have turned out bad in the game.
Inxile doesnt have that.

FIFY.
Until it's out, I can't really work up any excitement about PE. I've been burned once time too many by obsidian releasing half-finished buggy piles of poop. Granted, they were well-written half-finished buggy piles of poop if you could get past the introduction area without suffering any game breaking bugs or CTDs. I want to see the game out before they get my jewgoldz, and if the gameplay is as bad as in Torment (combat in torment was banalshitboring, let's not kid ourselves) or alpha brotocol (lol, invisibility!), I'll just read a Let's Play instead.

Also, am not a fan of WL2s camera. Give fixed angle, and design your maps around it plz. I don't want the environment obscuring shit.

Graphics are 'k, but not earth shattering in any way. I like the Shadowrun Returns and Bannu Saga stuff way better.

I actually don't care that much about it in this case because a) they're both skills and b) As shown in the video, things that are hard/impossible to pick can be bashed and vice versa. It's not as if New Vegas didn't have a few places where a door or safe could be opened either through lockpicking or hacking.

I'm more concerned about how he said you could also blow them up. That slides right into pseudo-sim territory.

But explosives are presumably a tightly limited resource, so there's a limit to how often you can do that.

Josh Sawyer said:
I mean, let's not be disingenuous here: if "special shotgun rounds" or explosives were able to get into locked boxes, metagamers would buy a single shotgun round for every Very Hard box with anything valuable in it (e.g. the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle's) and never put a point into Lockpick.

I did say "tightly limited".

I think its limited by Strength.

That's not what I meant by "limited".

There's no limit on the amount of times you can bash a door.
Not sure what exactly you mean by that.

In the video where the team is breaking second doors inside the Ag center, Chris is saying -

"you can use strength on the door to break it down"

"You can use an RPG to blow it up"

"You can use demolitions on the door"

"You can pick it"
(in original - which they will keep for W2)

then:

"Lockpick isnt going to be the solution for every single door you find"

"this one here, brute force works"

"later on maybe demolitions..."

If zooming out till its top down is still there, spinning the camera to see everything in a room won't be required.
