Someone should sift through the reddit shit afterwards and post interesting nuggets here.
You would need a fucking backhoe to sift through the reddit shit. That said, I will probably do it anyway because, well, Fargo and Avellone.

Spoiler: MCA makes an appearance. :smug:

I personally can only give brofists to what Fargo says about what's planned for the game so far. This is going to be my most anticipated game for a while... Oct 2013 can't come soon enough. :(

Was I the only one who took his shirt off, spun it around his head and yelled "Spring Break!" when MCA came on?

With 5 days left Doublefine's Kickstarter was at 2.5M and they ended up with 3.3M. With this recent surge, Wasteland2 is over 2.3M. It will be interesting to see if Wl2 has the same huge rush of donations in the last few days.

Possibly not, since the unusual mid-period "Obsidian spike" may have exhausted the reservoir of donations that would have otherwise been tapped at the end. But we'll see.

Just took another look

Looking at how the graph is heading, it seems they can reasonably hope to reach 2.6ish mil.

Maybe add a fraction of the surge double fine got in the end. fargo needs to have another kick in the pants last minute update like the obsidian one.

Well, just 5 dollars extra from everyone who already donated would give 250,000 right there. 10 and there's your half mil.

If everyone chipped in their spare change it's possible, just beware that spouses are the strongest enemy toward heavy funding.

Don't I know it? I may have scored a miracle with my wife being sold on the 'signature edition is an investment' myth! Still depends on me scraping up the money on time though...

But words are cheap. Just sayin'...

(Not saying that he didn't mean them.)
I think you are wrong, not because Schafer is such a nice guy, but only because for him and the others is vital that the Kickstarter model will expand if they really want to stand on their own legs without a publisher involved.

Yes and no. Tim hasn't ruled out working with publishers. He got so much good press from this, that publishers will probably be more favorable with him in the future, if he chooses to work with them.

Fargo not so much, since he's been badmouthing them all month. :smug:

I'm "wrong", am I?
That means you think words are not "cheap"?
All those politicians/corporations/people who say one thing and do another are doing the "hard" thing? Showing support for something with words when it doesn't cost you anything, gives you a good image and you'll never have to back it up with deeds is "hard"? Curious point of view. I don't agree however.
On the slight chance that you interpreted something into my comment that I didn't say...well, read more carefully next time. (And don't ignore the captions. They're usually existential to my comments. They also contain the jokes.)

EDIT: Now I get it, you believe that Schafer has an interest in W2 having an even better turn-over than Double Fine. Very far fetched.

Bye bye, 15 dollar game... hello 50 dollar game.

Oh well, I'll probably (not) have a job by the time Wasteland 2 is out, so it won't (will) be a biggie.

To be honest, I'm sure the Codex will somehow end up with piles of spare copies of the game. You can ask for one.

I also just bit the bullet and gave BF his 15$ for a game that I will not play before 2014 and which I know nothing about.
Just out of principle, because I have hope he will do with it what I want him to do with it.

Mostly because I enjoy his videos, and he said "we want to make history" and also something about Jagged Alliance.

o_O

Uh...yeah, words are cheap, but it was a "yeah, I hope all goes well for him too" post. Sometimes a friendly comment is just a friendly comment.

7/10 I'd already started a response :salute: Not bad. But I'm currently a far too easy target. :/

Another aspect is that you are showing that there is a market for this kind of game.
If Fargo horribly fails and produces pure shit:
1. In the traditional model nobody'd buy the product and publishers and next-gen assholes could say "See, there never was a market. Turn based is dead, not only because it's an anachronism and shit, but because nobody wants it."
2. Now, even if W2 should turn out bad, we can say that we are a market. It is possible to make low-mid budget games for us and turn a decent profit. You just have to actuallly make a good game :p
