Don't have time to read 19 pages. Hasn't anyone said "What's so fucking hard about making a computer game version of the board game" yet?

Games Workshop would not risk such competition to their miniatures.

Because if a video game is made based on the TT game, nobody would play TT anymore because of the rules automation.

Thanks to the Blood Bowl games, there should be more than enough empirical data on this subject.

Anybody knows by any chance if the TT sales de- or increased since the release of the Cyanide Game (I assume the Java one doesn't have the exposure to really make a difference)?
A quick Google search turned up nothing on this subject.

TT gaming is the only social interaction most of these nerds get, they wouldn't trade that in for a video game.

Blood Bowl has not been fully supported for years.

So anyways.

I'm starting mai first 40k army. Gonna be Ork Warbiker focused... I've ordered a few used CSM and SM bikes to use as looted bikes =D

My girlfriend still can't decide on a chapter for her AoBR SMs. Maybe Rainbow Warriors is the way to go.

No-one would play it because the game is not good.
I think most of the shittiness of the game comes from the convoluted rules. Which a computer game would automate.

Yeah, it's way too random to be a good video game with respectable challenge, but the same could be said of Blood Bowl.

To be honest I just want a turn based 40k game in any manner. Chaos Gate is the best choice I have, but it's not army-scale and has only Space Marines. I guess I need to finally build a VM so I can play Final Liberation.

Convoluted rules aren't an issue for me, I have so many years of experience, I still remember most of the rules and many of the unit stats from 2nd edition. I highly recommend giving 2nd a try, say with some small 500pt armies when you get them, to see the differences. It's a more convoluted, slower game to play, but ultimately more interesting than 5th in my opinion. All the rules and codexes are on torrents, except for Eldar.

Chaos Gate is a goddamn bitch on newer computers. There are quite a few help articles floating about the interwebz but a lot of folks just can't get it working. Shame it wasn't a DOS game.
I got it working perfectly. The new advice that I found is that you want to keep the game folder a very short character length; e.g. C:\CGate. Voila, no more crashes.

Beyond that you may have to mess with compatibility settings and screen resolution.

The Angels of Death (blood & dark) and Chaos codexes alone are worth the price of admission just for the lore (in b4 matt ward).

TBH at least Ward's codices aren't gameplay abortions like Gav Thorpe and Jervis's (ignoring fluff altogether).

I'm not a remarkably good multiplayer in the first place, but - combined with lag issues - fuck the thunder hammer/maul. It p. much reverses my usual k/d ratio.
Do you use Death From Above? I like that.

True Grit + Air-Cooled Thrusters is a fun mobile shooty platform.

If you mean dodging the initial death from above attack, you can always hover a little longer and make them waste a dodge before slamming down. Or if you can't find an opening, jump away and then jump back (or in one jump).

If you mean getting the followup swing to hit, that's why I like Air Cooled Thrusters. Jump back up, slam back down (same tactics as above).

OR use your pistol/bolter. If you've hit them once already with the hammer (thus knocking down their health), the Bolt Pistol will kill easily if you get shoot with the right pace and precision. Hell running around with a Bolt Pistol with any class is surprisingly feasible.

I don't like the Plasma Pistol as much because I'd rather my alpha strike be a melee attack (the plas pistol is better for whittling down enemy armor before jumping in).

I had the foresight to quit multiplayer 2 weeks ago so that I can experience Exterminatus all fresh and clean :smug:

So are there really people besides skyway who don't like this game? It's so fun. I keep just loading it up and playing a few random levels because it's so fun. I've been playing the multiplayer too, which is pretty difficult in general, but not in the retarded way games like red orchestra are where you just get sniped from some corner where someone has been camping for 20 minutes.

Skyway actually likes this game.

In other news, a bunch of used Ork miniatures just came in =D
