Goddamn I'm starting to hate this barrage of overtheshoulder melee games. Also, looks really tactical

INTIMATE BRUTALITY

CINEMACTION

Stop making these fucking names for things that have already been named before.

Derivative mindless bullshit, I saw him used the same silly 'cinemaction' move twice in the first scene. As if though it were anything original anyway, that' shit's been in games since God of War...

If people are going to make bullshit games like this, why can't they do it right like Ninja Gaiden does? I see absolutely nothing in this from a gameplay perspective that it hasn't done better in an obvious way.

Now why the fuck isn't the Marine a Blood Angel? A lot more potential for a CC focused game like this.

But really, it needs a lot more polish in the design to begin with.

I guess the clunkiness is to emphasize how huge space marines are suppose to be, wearing all that armor they can't exactly move like Dante or Ryu.
Doesn't look so bad but not that good either just hope they don't fuck it up.
Since the mentioned Gears type game it means they are going to play it safe and not do anything innovative.
The Warhammer universe (40k or plain ole warhammer) has such potential to spawn so many games across most genres.
Just imagine a W40k simcity/syndicate type game with you having to build your hive city/develope your planet, having to deal with gene stealers , chaos marines, eldar, and the inquisition looking over your shoulder.

... Cinemaction?

Is this REALLY what our industry has come to? Unbelievable... Shameful...

I remember when I was a kid on Christmas day one year, I had my first orgasm when I opened a present and saw this:

Oh and yeah, not to mention the guy flat out LIES when he brings up that the WH40k license hasn't been used for 'such a personal experience' before. Uh... what the fuck THQ published Fire Warrior themselves dumbass.

That was embarassing to watch. Also, bolters are not submachine guns. They are rocket launchers.

Now why the fuck isn't the Marine a Blood Angel?
Because all marines can fight in close combat? Saying it must be a Blood Angel because there is close combat is shallow thinking.

It wasn't that bad. At least 70% of the fail was the narrator saying "cinemaction" every 20 seconds.

I kept wondering why none of the chaos guys thought to shoot him in the head, though. That was awkward. What's the good of all that armor if he's not going to wear a helmet?

Well, at least that's true to the canon. He's probably a sergeant, and SM sergeants NEVER wear helmets.

True enough with the bolters. The sound should be a LOT more boomy. However, the bolts would look like tracer rounds anyway, since that's how a bazooka (better description than a rocket launcher) round looks like when fired.

Also, using Blood Angels is for the rule of cool. And the Black Rage and shit.

'and when he's stunned, I can uh, go up close and finish him off with...'

I hoped so much he would say ENERGY LEGS

I liked how they touted cutscenes as a great way of getting into the action. "We use these things called cutscenes" OH REALLY I DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE CALLED CUTSCENES.*

Nothing says action like having to stop playing.

*don't know if he actually said that but that was the gist of it

You forgot

SCOPE OF WAR!

The last I checked, we just called them in-game cinematics.

And did anyone notice how he uses his gunfire as a torchlight?

That looked really lame. Combat was boring "standing there, let everyone fire at you" while you take your time to just shoot randomly until you run in and SLOW-MO CUTSCENE DEATH SEQUENCE BABY YEEHAW which looked about as entertaining as... Something really not very entertaining at all.

I like the different finishing moves though. You can stand on their chest and stick the sword in them or stand on a bigger guys chest and stick the sword in him! "Hundreds" of different moves!

It was an early build so I guess a lot of stuff can change but;

Bolter looks and sounds like shit, it shoots massive bullets and limited clip, it should shoot slower.

He should have a power sword or power fist or something, stabbing people with a chain sword looks pretty retarded. Cultists or fallen guard or whatever the hell they were take WAY too much beating to kill. That CSM didn't seem any tougher than them.

Space marine looks retarded doing those stupid twirly prince of persia attacks. I gues this couldn't be worse than the abortion that was firewarrior, and it looks very pretty visually, but the gameplay looks like shit at the moment.

Aside from it being the usual warhammer esque fiction about space marines

(AND SOETH THE SPACE MARINE AVOIDED FIRE FROM 50 OF HIS FALLEN BRETHEREN AND SLEW THEM ALL)

and the other few boggling things, I'm not going to write it off yet. It looks like they want to do more with the death animations and what not (the guy says hundreds, we'll see) but I just wished they had focused more on the gameplay so far than the graphics.

And it makes sense to start him off with a chain sword, that leaves room for upgrading his shit later on to a power sword, fist, etc.

The speaker states that it's an early build as well as there only being a few in the demo, but also adds he would like to have hundreds of finishing moves. He never said there were 100 in that demo.

Also, going back I didn't see that he was shooting a bolter with one hand, SMG style. Really, they should do a weapon system. Either have a REAL bolter that requires both hands and it be powerful along with a knife, OR do a melee / pistol combo.

If this does go the upgrade route, seeing him fire a plasma gun with a single hand will be kinda weird. As if the bolter isn't already. Just give him a bolt pistol

They should really have a number of different characters to play as. At least one psyker for kickass finishing moves and melee ownage. Also, Power Fists are mandatory.

Firing bolter in one hand is possible, but it's really a special ability.

Looks crap. The guy doing the commentary seems retarded. Too many buzzwords and some of the explanations seemed to make it sounds like he thought he was inventing whole new concepts with "cut scenes" and so on. He also lies with a few things too, so I am not impressed.

He has str 5. Characters are often picture using basic or special weapons single handed so I am not too concerned about that, although I agree a bolt pistol would be better.

Maybe there will be choice and consequence and you can join chaos
