NPCs can enter they houses and open they chests... and skilled thief can't just steal a key and use it to open same doors and chests!
I just think it's little bit wired if look at it from thief's point of view... :)
Anyway thiefs have ability to open this things without keys and there is nothing to fix.

An issue with Jared, the guard from Vermillion station. In one of the two series of answers, he doesn't take the letter.

He does on
2;16;21;26;31
and doesn't on
2;17;211;26;31.
Thanks, and turns out there were actually four broken lines. Fixed.

Yes, she doesn't wake up on your save, but I can't figure out what's causing that. Her day and night standpoints seem to be correct, I even tried resetting them, but it doesn't help. Looks like a rare glitch to me. BTW, did you enter Black Root at night the first time, by any chance?

I am pretty sure I did enter at night, and I read elsewhere that entering at night was a probable cause. Oh well, thanks for checking it out at least.

The more I fix this game, the more it depresses me. Arcanum could have been a masterpiece, if it didn't have lots of bugs and dumb omissions due to laziness. I found out today that because of a typo, unique footstep sounds for snow tiles never played. Hushed Revolver was missing its unique sound effects, as well. They often never bothered to check something in-game, whether it works or not. I find stuff like this every week. Cursors for called shots were mixed up? Who uses the called shots anyway, eh, why check them. I've restored so many omissions and forgotten stuff in all these months, omitted dialogs, voice-overs, extra endings, music tracks (!), not working quests, lots of art, etc, etc. Christ, the infamous Dark Helm was giving you infinite magickal aptitude because of a typo.

The rushed development policy killed Troika. And perhaps, it was a good thing for the lazy bastards. QA? Hah! We don't need no stinkin' QA!

Amazing. And truly a tragedy that it was shipped in such a state.

Do you announce all the missing content as soon as you find it? Or are you slow-leaking it?

The first post has all upcoming fixes listed. When I change something, I list it in the first post, so you can check the progress at any time.

I was highly interested in the God Endings when they were released when Arcanum came out, but was highly disappointed when I realized they weren't available.

How are the various endings obtained? I know that Terra Arcanum has apparently all the endings, but weren't available when it was posted when the game came out.

In every pub over the Arcanum world you can play in game "How you know Arcanum". Guy ask you a question and you answer. If you answer wrong -- they say you correct answer. But sometimes they say "correct answer for another question". For example -- question about king of Caladon. I don't remember what they exactly said me as "correct" answer, but this "answer" wasn't in list of answers and not a name at all.

Some items, for example "Staff of restoration", don't show they combat attributes (D:+X FT:+Y) only bonus to stats ("ST:+1 CN:+1 Healing +50%" in this case). Is it normal or one more bug? I think it's bug.

Hmm... when I ask Franklin Payne if he knows anything about Ashbury, it doesn't play a sound file... is it supposed to be like that?

Also, I looked at some NPC's age with the WorldEd and, I saw a few strange ages around... maybe WorldEd doesn't show the age effects from race? Because the non-human people who try to bribe you in the Persuasion Mastery quest are all 20 years old.

Yes, the first wrong answer was leading to a wrong line. Any other mistakes in the game of wits?

Sometimes, there's not enough space to fit the whole description. But this is not the case here, so I'll add damage modifiers.

You can't ask him about Ashbury at all, you must be mistaken. Anyway, he's missing a plenty of voice clips.

Yes, it doesn't.

Oops, you were right, I think I actually asked him about the Vendigroth Ruins while we were in Ashbury.

I believe I've run into a strange bug. I'm not sure if it's due to the UAP, so maybe you can help.

I started a new game tonight. Every time I speak with someone and say something to offend them, their reaction goes up rather than down! For example, in Dernholm, I insulted the beggar gnome ("Get off me, you slag!"), I spoke rudely to Vollinger (although slapping him makes him instantly attack), I told Archibald it was a burden to speak with him, and all of their reactions were positive!

One last example: While speaking with the Mayor of Shrouded Hills about the bridge, I can insult him in a loop (though there is one option that will make him instantly attack) and get his reaction to "Love". I know that, in my last game, saying such things made him dislike me.

Do you think this is something caused by the UAP, or is it just one more bug that it needs to fix?

First time playing as a gnome? When you get a bad reaction as a gnome, the game adds +10 to it, so e.g. if you get -5 reaction it becomes +5, and if you get -10 it becomes 0.

Holy gods, that's terrible! I have Arbalah's Blessing, too. Now I'm cursed as being unconditionally lovable!

Thanks for the clarification.

I found one more wired thing. :)
There is cloth armor "Priest Robes" (AC:3 DR:+2 FR:-15).
At first why "Robes"? I found chest with 4 of them in one place (I love Disintegration -- open almost any door, magically locked in Panari temple too). :)
At second when I put it on my character this item become invisible in armor slot. It's visible in inventory but invisible on character.

About magically locked doors and disintegration -- is it normal?

One more item with invisible stats problem is book from Victor's Myst grave. When you hover on it you see only short description, but no weight. I wrote this book name there later, I need to go now.

I make list later with items without full descriptions, I'm already have some armors and weapons with this problem. Maybe it's possible to fix some of them.

p.s. Lol, someone curse me to be "unconditionally lovable" in real life... Gnomes is best diplomats and pickupers in the world! Even elves don't have this "curse"...

Question to all there: Is all item bonuses counts over maximum value? For example bonuses to prowling (robe with +2 and so on) and magic aptitude (Dark Helm).

I'm imbecile...

I've noticed some stuff when my character has background:"Idiot Savant". Since it makes the dialogue appear as if my character had intelligence at 1, I don't get many side quests. Then some places appear empty, when I go there, because someone hasn't told me about some quest.

The bedokaan village for an example was completely empty and I couldn't get a marker spot on my world map for it, because the elf hunter didn't tell me it's location. I could find the poachers camp though, but it was empty too.

With my current character I'm completely unable to complete the ancient gods quest, because I can't return the statue of Gesthianna to the priestess. All I can say to her is some hurgh, even when I have the statue in my inventory. It doesn't help to drop the statue in front of her and wait her to pick it up or place straight into her inventory with pick pocket skill.

Also I can't inform the Dernholm King about his daughther, but I have the quest hanging in my logbook.

Sorry, but we're fixing bugs here, not game design issues.

Looks like you've found the princess' amulet. It automatically gives you the quest. I can add an IN check, though.

Items with partial description (no base stats) in my collection:
1. Blade of Unholy Fire.
2. Elven Hunter's Bow.
3. Hero's Weakness Barbarian Armour.
4. Venomous Robes (no place for base stats?).
5. Helmet of Yzar's Cost.
6. Boots of the Dark Toll.
7. Caladon Crusading Chain.
8. Diseased Chain Mail
Most of items without description hexed, but I have some hexed items with base stats. So, maybe it's bug, maybe not. I don't know.

Book with description "This binding of this book is most obviously a fake" have only this description, no weight information, no name or something else.

Quest problem.
http://mikesrpgcenter.com/arcanum/sideq ... ml#murders
Here is quest description.
I can't do step "Return to Inspector Henderson in Caladon with the Blade of Xeres. He will allow you access to the old sewers."
I'm already have blade of Xerxes (correct name, not Xeres) from Pit of Fires but I obtain em before get this quest. When I come to inspector I only can say em about previous part of quest because quest to find dagger not finished! I try to drop it and grab, put back in lava and grab but quest to find this dagger still not finished.

Sorry for doubleposting.

I noticed a bug when Virgil decides to leave. If I manage to click him before he runs away from the screen, he'll start the conversation you get at the Crashsite and joins the party again.

Also it was sort of hard to get the leave event occur. If I never knew he would leave, I might have played the game without him ever leaving...

Perriman Smythe tells me about Dernholm when I'm at Caladon and ask him about the place.

This is sort of offtopic? But does Lethe Wyvern's attacks decrease intelligence permanently? I just noticed it had dropped to 13 from 14. The number however wasn't red as usually, when some stat is decreased from it's normal value...

Considering the Blade of Xerxes. The script on the blade checks if you have the quest, and if you do--it changes the quest state and then removes itself, but if not--the script only removes itself, thus rendering the blade useless. I'm not certain why they've done so. The Pit of Fires isn't hidden as well, you can find it without having the quest. I'm not sure how to solve the problem without being subjective. Should I just make the location impossible to find? Or should I make the script usable more than once? The script is triggered when the item is being inserted in your inventory.

What do you mean? There's a problem when you free the half-ogres and the whole T'sen-Ang turns on you, the guards at the entrance attack you as well, and Virgil's dialog doesn't fire. You have to click on him after the guards are dead, in this case. I was meaning to add a heartbeat script that would constantly try to run the dialog, but I'm afraid of adding anything custom to the game these days.

But does Lethe Wyvern's attacks decrease intelligence permanently?
It does. You may become a genuine retard with IN of 1 and no means to raise it, if you take a lot of hits.

It acts more like a background than a spell effect, IIRC.

Second method better. If I'm understand right there is no simple way to completely block access into some location. If someone know right coordinates on global map they can come here. To completely prevent access to some locations Trioka guys use various specific scripts (eg. Wheel Clan, Bedokan Village, e.t.c). To completely block access you should add much of custom content. Much easy to keep script on dagger, then prevent acquiring of it.

Workaround for those, who find Blade before quest:
Just disintegrate door to sewers, two guards don't say anything...
Disintegration of door without reaction of guards -- bug, but this bug should be there until script for Blade fixed.
