I decided on a max agility spearman who does temporal manipulation and 7 int for his side-gig as a tailor. Dumped con and per. For feats I got nimble, paranoid, and sure step.

My only wish is that I had more skill points. It's expensive pumping dodge, evade, all the stealthy/exploration skills (other than traps), and still wanting mercantile and crafting and tm.

Can't you ditch stealth if you are already heavily investing in both dodge + evade? Or vice versa?

Dont ditch Stealth, it saved me in many different ways

Dodge and evade is more for combat burt sometimes combat isnt a solution and only Stealth can save you

ditch hacking then, it's disposable
I thought lockpicking is the more disposable one.

Depends on whether you have the STR to force vents IMO

The problem with ditching stealth is that it is, essentially, the only tool you have for positioning and starting combat on your own terms. It is not that critical if you don't play glass cannon and don't die from a single hit, but still very useful nonetheless.

I would ditch stealth only on dedicated tank builds

I think I'm with Ol' WIlly here. I tried to go non stealth on a full cave mage once but than I added it anyway quite early in the beginning, because it's so useful get the right opening.

Stealth is also huge QoL, especially in DC and Expedition. Let's you skip a lot of garbage, that it is useful in combat is just the cherry on top.

Don't also forget that stealth allows you to thin the herd instead of fighting the entire map at once. You can remove isolated enemies if you have the means (of which are plenty, like thought control, electroshock, melee, silenced weapons, etc). Some maps could be fully cleared without triggering mass aggro at all

On the internet, writing shit posts.
Correct, but as a counter argument, LMG goes BRRR.

Anyway, new Patch just dropped because Styg is a madman.

Version 1.2.0.21

Items

  • Added Reflex Sight that can be added to Assault Rifles
Tweaks
  • All assault rifles with scopes have their move and shoot precision decreased by 5%
  • Spiked Chrome Brass Knuckles can now be poisoned, can no longer by used with CACS, and incorrect durability when found has also been fixed
Bugs
  • Fixed a visual glitch with one of the old man sprites when moving with a crossbow
  • Fixed the Vanishing Powder Grenade for real now, truly... for real this time.
  • Fixed the bug that would allow the player to equip quick slot item for free under special circumstances
  • You can no longer use hyperallergenic in caltrops bluerint (it doesn't do anything, it's just wasted that way)
  • Fixed sometimes being able to use the Bullet Time ability without having picked the feat
  • Various minor dialog/zone fixes

I now have to finally do an AR run to see what reflex sights are like. Maybe not Tin-Man because I already did that twice in a row. Full Auto just needs S7 anyway.

Still didn't feel like buffing mini-guns. Oh well, I found a LMG at level 4 and that's what I'm using.

Sir, this is underrail, stealth is half the fun.

Hacking & lockpicking are also necessary, can't bear to miss out on the content. Already feel crippling pain at missing out on stuff due to per 3.

Mandatory skills in Underrail, must be maxed every level:
  • Hacking
  • Lockpicking
  • Pickpocketing
  • All crafting skills
  • All social skills
You can also get some combat shit if you want I guess. I play on ironman dominating btw.

Don't forget all the psi skills and high will to get all the juicy monolith content

And agility to jump over/across obstacles

And and... :negative:

Not a fan of puzzles, usually skip or bruteforce them, but not solving them on your own at least sometimes is lame

The music cipher puzzle is piss easy once you understand what you have to do, but gaining this understanding is the biggest puzzle in itself, especially so as the in-game wording is a bit confusing. Thankfully, Underrail wiki gives a very useful hint that the cipher key should be created in the form of the table, after this everything clicks alright

After you make the key you can actually ignore the octaves with letters and pick only the ones with numbers (octaves 1 and 2 here), the composition titles exist only to make you aware if you got the key right or fucked it up

For the sake of purity I did it old school way, without fancy helpers or exels

Mutagen puzzle was interesting because it was easily explained/worded, this music one was a convoluted mess for non native english speaker who isn't interested in music notation at all. Feels like one of designers play some instrument[if its nerds then its 90% guitar] and went from that point onward.

The most fun I ever had in the game was as a nimble 3 con non-stealth sword build. Theres three kinds of defense in underrail: tanking, avoidance, stealth/high init.

Build with no lockpicking or persuasion, and bad stealth, but does have pickpocketing, not sure how else to get to Todor.
Three grenades, one to get the supervisor out of his room and then bodyblock him out of it. When he wanders around trying to get in through the window, another grenade goes inside the room, so that guards will go inside, then come back out and block him in place as he tries to go inside (I bodyblocked him to slow his approach). This keeps him standing in place outside of his room long enough for the storeroom key to be pickpocketed.

Then a third grenade to unclog them so I can sneak into the room and force vent open with crowbar.

Not sure why bother with this, any solution except for forged evidence blocks you from accessing the Oculus

I don't have persuasion and haven't done the Beast quest (and won't for a while, just out of Junkyard), so I have to sneak my way to speak with Todor, which gives you the info needed to bullshit them into legally freeing him.

I wish there would be a key ring in this game. Something like what Arcanum had. Half of my inventory is keycards and I dont want to let them go because I dont know if any of them are needed anymore. :prosper:
