The Plainsgate/Halfgate situation from the previews actually has two separate choices that determine its state. The village can either be destroyed or not, and you can either be allied with the Scarlet Chorus or not. So four different states altogether.

Brian admits to streamlining, but says they'll make up for it with the magic system. He loves magic systems.

He says the classless system allows reduction of party size, because you don't need to give players the opportunity to use a variety of classes. They can just specialize in whatever they want.

Well they aren't writers, are they? So we literally don't know who wrote this

?

Not the (current) lead writer, but outside of the designers we know Avellone was creative lead initially so the big stuff may have been laid out by him. As far as other writers Paul Kirsch is confirmed and likely Kathryn Megan Starks.

Companions - some of them belong to the various factions of Kyros' army and they may not get along with each other. Others are defeated enemies of Kyros, and you can encourage them to die fighting or convert them fully to your side.

Brian says companions will challenge you on the things you do in the world.

Probaly just reduced reputation so you don't get their awesome button.

Actually, it has been stated that negative reputation also confers a bonus, just a different one, a la Alpha Protocol (which I'm playing at this very moment).

Brian says Paradox are funding the game (in case anybody thought it was some joint Obsidian thing or whatever)

All he said is that they challenge you. The companion approval mechanic wasn't really discussed in this interview.

If it's Chosen One plus prewritten companions, I'm fine with a smaller party size.

If it's RTWP, I'm fine with an eye towards "faster" combat, i.e. getting that crap over with so I can get back to the story/exploration/whatever.

I would rather have full party creation and turn-based combat, but if those elements are out, then yes, let's sideline the parts I'm going to dislike anyway as much as possible.

They should just pull a swap. Let Sawyer work on the classless game focused on exploration/C&C and let someone else work on the IE successor.
